I have to say folks, this is one of the loveliest dresses I have seen on a RMW bride. Catheryne’s “re-made” frock was unique, simple and a beautifully flattering shape. Oh and of course the buttons – have a small obsession going on with down-the-back buttons…..oh and the big dusky pink flower……..LOVE that……*sigh*
And as much as I loved the fashion I adored the decor and the whole relaxed backyard vibe this Big Day had going on. Perfection.

Something Old
We used an old school blackboard my sisters and I used to play with when we were little for the table plan, it needed a little sanding and re-painting.

Small But Perfectly Formed
Matthew: The wedding car was a little un-traditional. Catheryne’s grandfather had given her a car quite a few years ago. It’s a 1995 fiat cinquecento which has seen better days, but Catheryne absolutely loves it and she was driven to the church in it and I drove us back to the reception in it. All the girls decorated the car with a massive cream bow and hydrangeas stuck all over it.

Chocoholic
Matthew’s lovely aunty and cousin made our cake, it was a delicious chocolate sponge with beautiful blue icing and hundreds of little piped dots all over it. I picked some flowers to sit of top, unfortunately they were a bit sad looking by the time we came to cut the cake, I think the heat got the better of them!

Our Favourite Photo’s
Matthew: We found out about Kelly Green from our flatmate. She had photgraphed his best friend Adam’s wedding. We had seen Adam and Nat’s wedding online, so when we met Kelly we were already almost certain that we wanted her to photograph our wedding.
The photos are absolutely amazing, we couldn’t be happier. With digital camera’s so abundant we did wonder at the beginning whether it was worth having a professional – everyone can take a photo can’t they?! – but the difference is so obvious when you look at them, the shots all over the church, to the ones in the wood shed and by the rusty old container are my particular favourites!

Evening Entertainment
We didn’t have any music during the drink or wedding breakfast, we forgot to turn it on! In the evening one of my brothers in law, Steve, did the disco for us.

Sharing The Night Together
Matthew: We spent ages arguing (nicely!) over our first dance, there were a few songs in contention, and it did get to the point where we thought we might break with tradition and not have one, but we hadn’t reckoned on the reaction of the rest of our guests who thought that was a heinous crime!
We went with Dr Hook – Sharing the night together. Dr Hook was a band that both our sets of parents loved and it was one of the first things we knew we had in common when we got together. We’ve spent many a drunken night with our parents listening to Dr Hook.

Divine Decor
The bunting we had in the marquee came from Children’s Monsoon, I’d seen it in the window and thought I’d ask what happens to it when the display’s taken down. I was told that they had plenty in the store room that could be mine for a small donation.

Clever And Effective D.I.Y
I broke up slate tiles, which had come from the roof of a house my Dad is doing up, and wrote on them in silver pen for the place names.

What Makes It Special
Catheryne: I think we feel like every other married couple, that we had a truly special day. The fact that it was in the garden I grew up in was very special.
Matthew: The garden itself is a wonderful location, there’s so much to it and some lovely features like the wood shed and the summer house.
The food we chose was all Greek influenced as we’ve spent time in Greece and loved the food, we didn’t want a wedding breakfast wasn’t something we would normally eat, and both our families absolutely love a bbq so that’s what we went with.
A lot of our guests commented on the relaxed feel to our wedding and we’re so pleased because that’s exactly what we wanted. A stilted and formal wedding would not have suited us, we’re easy going and laid back (Unless planning a wedding!) as are our families and we wanted to keep the wedding that way.

As you probably guessed I am a little bit in love with the blue polka dot cake
With thanks to Catheryne, Matthew and Kelly Green for sharing the garden gorgeous with Rock My Wedding

The cake is chic and SO pretty – love it! And how gorgeous is Catheryne’s hair? It looks like this was such a fun wedding – congratulations to the happy couple!
This is so lovely. Love the DIY details like the blackboard and the slate tiles
Gorgeous flowers too!
Rachie xo
So happy that the gorgeous shoe boots have made another appearance
Love the photos beside the rusty container, the colours are such a great contrast.
Fabulous!
P.S. And the cake is definitely a winner
There is so much I love about this wedding.
The decorations are sublime. That cake looks amazing.
I am still in complete love with the shoeboots – so so much.
The blackboard – genius and has a bit of history to it.
And I LOVE the car!
Most of all – you look so happy, as do your guests.
Looked like a fabulous day!
This has definitely cheered up my ‘snot-filled, tissues everywhere, cough-every-second, feeling pants’ day!
Charlotte – I am soooo with you on the whole buttons things, I heart buttons. Unfortunately, one of my sisters is afraid of buttons (yes really!) so I can’t have them all down the back of my dress!!
Boo!
Also, check out Catheryne rocking that dark nail varnish – brill!
r.now x x
PS I am also hearting the spotty cake in a big way!
Even more gorgeous is part 2, beautiful cake and decor x
Looks like a really fun wedding – Great photos!
LOVE IT!! The photography is awesome!! I love all the shots that play with the dof but that’s the camera geek in me
Love the relaxed vibe, the bargain bunting, the hydrangeas (I heart hydrangeas in a major way!!), the shoes, the dress, the relaxed vibe everything! Beautifully done!!
This part totally lived up to my expectation! Fabulous!
I love the car and the sneaky little window display tactic… must try that. Just like Erica said… it looks like it was so much fun!
What a brilliant set of pics! Well done Kelly xx
Damn those shoe boots are A.MAZING! I want a pair! xoxo
The slate table settings are a great idea, then all the guests have something to keep aswell!
I read that each button on the back of the dress symbolises a year of happy marriage (complete bollocks). But by that time I’d tried a buttoned dress and realised it did fabulous things for my bottom.
I love the bunting on the trees, totally fabulous. And the pictures by the shed and the CAR.
So wonderfully personal.
SO what I needed after a 16 hour working day. Can I go to sleep now?
How much do I love the hydrangea-mobile!?!?
Lucy x
PS. Can’t help wondering how they stuck the hydrangea heads onto the car. Surely not with glue…blue tack maybe? What?! Please find out and then tell me!
Lucy – they stuck the hydrangeas on the car with selotape!!
Oooh! Good to know, thanks Kelly! x
