Planning

This is one of those styled shoots where every detail is simply beautiful. The sister duo behind Lily & Sage clearly have great taste and a fabulous eye. The whole shoot is utterly elegant, reflecting the Georgian house location to perfection, but there are pops of pink and stylish gowns from LA Bespoke Bride which really make things feel contemporary too. The beautiful images come from Katie Julia whose style I've fallen for and I'm really looking forward to sharing more of her work on RMW in the future. But for now, let's enjoy this dreamy shoot...

The Inspiration

Lily & Sage: As stylists my sister and I are very much influenced by the concept of using the senses to evoke a unique feeling and mood. We wanted to tell a story of romance and tranquility, full of light spaces and simple elements. Set within a stunning Georgian family home in rural England, the organic details, textures and light soft colour palette were captured beautifully through the fine art photography by Katie Julia.

The Mood

The bride wakes up on her wedding day and her house is filled with a sense of peacefulness. Anticipation fills the room yet she remains calm, serene and natural. She is in her element. She is traditional, natural and relatable, and yet she is modern, sophisticated and confident in her style. The groom is relaxed and excited. He is charming and devoted, yet his laughter and sense of humour reflects our desire for a natural environment. They compliment each other entirely.

The Location

We were drawn to this location because of its contradictions; a typically English and character filled Georgian house with a mixture of contemporary and antique pieces throughout. It tied in beautifully with the vision for our shoot. Its large windows and high ceilings created a calm, light atmosphere.

The Flowers

The flowers by Westwood Design created a dramatic, undone and effortless mood. We kept them to a simple palette using silver toned green foliage and white flowers; with hints of colour through velvet and plant dyed silk ribbons supplied by Kate Cullen Styling and Silk & Willow.

The Tablescapes

Indoors we created an elegant and intimate setting, which focused around a stunning foliage table runner. The beautiful contrast of the lace embroidery, crisp white linens and ethereal draped chiffon created a luxurious experience of textures. The outdoor tablescape was influenced by the property’s lightly structured gardens, giving a sense of unforced romance and fresh light. Textures played an important role here. We adored the contrast of the marble stone table against the foliage, stationery and tableware.

The Dresses

We absolutely fell in love with the dresses supplied by La Bespoke Bride. Their classic yet modern styles were detailed and unique without being too heavy. The stunning Suzanne Harward textural dress had a sophisticated, architectural silhouette with feminine sheer detailing. The Anais Anette design was clean, contemporary and oozed modern luxe with its subtly jewelled sleeves. One of our favourites was the Odylyne The Ceremony gown; evoking a dreamy ethereal mood with its lace detailing and floaty sheer fabric which pooled beautifully. We are passionate about infusing our couples stories into their wedding. Using the stunning coral gown by Belle & Bunty, our shoot began with the bride’s engagement. Our photographer Katie Julia helped us to bring this to life. The dress added a pop of colour and looked effortlessly feminine.

The Stationery

The stationery suites designed by Ever After Press and By Moon & Tide were selected to reflect our bride’s natural and relaxed style. The delicate calligraphy and colours evoked a romantic mood, and the textured paper reflected the organic feel of the shoot. We love the way the stationery pairs with the stone floors, foliage and ribbons.
