Well, Happy Monday to all you lovely Bridal folk, from me, Contra. I’ve got to say it, you guys are in for a real treat this week. While we are lucky enough here at RMW to get loads of stunning weddings sent in from our readers, we always want to go that extra mile to bring the best bridal inspiration to your desktop. We spend hours every week trawling the web for the most jaw-droppingly gorgeous and stylish affairs to share with you. So you can imagine my joy when I stumbled across this little beauty shot by the ridiculously talented Lawson Photography.
And my jaw was agape.
I mean really, wide open.
The colours, the details, the absolute joy and pure unadulterated sense of FUN that comes across in each and every one of these images are my idea of heaven. Over the rest of the week we will be showcasing the entire stylish affair and we will kick off with a little intro from one half of the photographer-extraordinaire couple that shot the whole thing so beautifully, Laura Lawson, with some shots from the night before. So with out further ado, introducing the fun-filled couple themselves, Rachel and Julian.

From Laura Lawson @ Lawson Photography
There were so many elements to this wedding which made it a total gem to photograph. Marrakech has been on my ‘places to visit’ list for years, so when Rachel and Juls asked us to cover their big day we were blown away and couldn’t wait!
Having a wedding abroad is obviously completely different to being in the UK, and the best difference in my opinion was the intimate atmosphere and the celebrations spilling over to the days before and days after the big event. What is more amazing than your friends and family travelling across the world to witness you getting married?! Rachel and Julian’s guests were amazing, and all so warm and welcoming to us that we really didn’t feel like outsiders.
Rachel and Julian are fun and uber relaxed, and that’s exactly what they wanted for their wedding. The key to achieving this was the amazingly talented coordinators Rosena and Fred of Boutique Souk who were literally running around all week making sure everything was perfect. This meant Rachel and Julian could relax by the pool and look forward to the wedding without having to worry about anything – fabulous!

The night before the wedding was magical and will stick in my mind whenever I think of Marrakech. Rosena and Fred arranged a wonderful evening to welcome all of the guests and we tagged along with our cameras to capture the action! As the sun set the guests ate, drank and were merry – it was perfect!

Let me hand you over to Rosena from Boutique Souk to tell you about what the couple had in store for their guests before the big day took place…
Thursday Evening
Welcome dinner – cocktails and dinner at hip Moroccan restaurant – Le Comptoir. Boys enjoyed the after dinner cabaret of sexy Moroccan belly dancers and girls checked out the garden boutique stuffed full of bags, bangles and kaftans! Everyone danced and chatted the night away in the upstairs chill-out lounge.
Friday Evening
All guests met on Marrakech’s famous Place Djeema el fna for a guided visit and mint tea, surrounded by storytellers, henna tatooists, snake charmers, acrobats and open air foodstalls selling sheep’s heads, snails and kebabs! Everyone looked pretty relieved to be heading off for dinner, especially when they were whisked off by a procession of horse and carriage to the beautiful Palmerie area just outside of the hustle and bustle of the city.
Here they had their first view of the couple’s stunning Kasbah style villa. Guests enjoyed the sunset as they dined under the stars on the rooftop of the villa on Moroccan carpets, poofs and cushions, surrounded by candles. They had a feast of Cous Cous, the traditional meal on Friday’s in Morocco washed down with Rose wine and mint tea of course!
Now lots of you might be wondering, why oh why are we featuring a wedding in exotic Marrakech, on a UK wedding blog? Well, firstly we are all for a destination wedding, especially when it means that a couple can really create the wedding of their dreams, completely free of the restraints of UK wedding-dom. And secondly, this is a bride-school exercise in how to create a wedding that’s personal to you and your groom. Full of beautiful details to wow your guests and brimming with personality.
Check back soon to hear the refreshingly different planning story from the lovely Bride herself.
Yours truly,
Contra
