Bridal Beauty Portraits

We’ve got a treat for you this morning – a feature from Love Lust List recommended photographer Katy & Co that showcases just three simple Bridal beauty looks. The team behind the shoot wanted to create inspiration for you that wasn’t focussed on the dress, and showed achievable make up looks as well as seriously gorgeous floral accessories.

All of the make up products used are listed below and the blooms too – just incase you see any you’d love to include in your big day but don’t know the name. I’m terrible for this!! Apart from roses and peonies, I have no clue!

As well as the beautiful, soft images of the models, we’ve also included some behind-the-scenes images of the flowers, because sometimes it’s nice to see the ‘real’ side of the industry, not just the shiny finished product, and also, who doesn’t want to see more images of pretty blooms?!? Enjoy!!

The Inspiration

Katy The Photographer: As part of a collaboration between wedding vendors, we wanted to create three looks for brides to be inspired by. These beauty portraits focus on how make-up, hair and flowers and clothing other then a wedding dress, can help give a bride her unique look.

The Make Up

Alexa – Blonde Hair

Foundation – Illamasqua Skin Base a favorite of mine as it gives a fresh finish
Brows – HD brow palette great to use if you need a range of colours.
Eyes – Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette ‘Buzz’ Popular with brides as it has a range of natural colours.
Lashes – Benefit They’re Real Mascara for the false lash effect.
Lips – Kryolan Mini rouge palette. This palette is another great one for brides as there’s so many natural ones to choose from.
Cheeks – Ben Nye Fashion Rouge palette.

Emily – Red Hair

Foundation – Illamasqua Skin base.
Brows – HD Brow Palette
Eyes – Urban decay Naked 3 palette using ‘Nooner and Liar’ This time
Lashes – Benefit They’re real mascara
Lips – Mac Ruby Woo another popular shade for brides who want a more bold look.
Cheeks – Makeup forever contour palette, Ben Nye fashion rouge palette and Famous shimmer brick for highlight a combination of 3 is great to make your cheeks stand out.

Marta – Dark Curly Hair

Foundation – Illamasqua Rich liquid foundation.
Brows – HD brow palette
Eyes – Famous shimmer brick & Makeup forever gold glitter to make the eyes stand out.
Lashes – Benefit They’re real mascara
Lips – Kryolan mini rouge palette
Cheeks – Sleek blusher in Flamingo, Famous shimmer brick for highlight & Illamasqua bronzer

You can find all the products used above at John Lewis.

The Flowers

Rebecca At Ivy Pip & Rose: As Katy just wanted head shots with neutral clothing – the flowers needed to stand out.

I decided to focus on pastel colours and to create some unfussy headdresses. The oversized pink rose was the key to the floral crown with the rest of it being muted with the occasional anemone and hydrangea flower.

A string of spring flowers using mimosa and paper whites can be easily be adapted for any season by using small bud flowers like wax flower, bouvardia or rose buds.

The buttery yellow ranunculus work well with the mauve tones and really stand our against the model’s fabulous hair.

String Of Flowers – Mimosa (fuzzy yellow balls) and Jasmine (but on the shoot I used narcissus)

Clip – Ranunculus (cream papery flowers) & Anemone (blue flowers with black centre)

Floral Crown – Roses, Anemones & Pom Pom Chrysanthemums (held in front of model)

  1. These are beautiful portraits, and are sure to be treasured forever. A bridal portrait session before the big day is a great way to try out your look and change anything you want to. It’s also a great time to get to know your photographer and find the style of photos you like
