Prints Charming

October 22nd, 2009

I promised though didn’t I? That I would find some cool funky brights and eye-catching prints for wedding guest attire, potential bridesmaid loveliness or just because you want to buy yourself a new little something.

Well today ladies it’s prints – and because I have been a little bit neutral-swayed in the past I am going to make up for it today by posting six beauties instead of my usual four.

Have been most thrilled to receive lovely emails from Brides saying RMW has helped them find perfect dresses – even if it has meant changing their entire colour scheme!!!! ( sorry Clara)

All these gorgeous dresses are from one of my most visited on-line stores – www.asos.com, a treasure trove of fashion fabulousness….

Prints-Final

A slouchy tunic jersey courtesy of Miss Sixty, an asymmetric oversized shift dress from Vera Moda…..and how about a big bold tulip print? loving the colour combination on this Warehouse number.

Prints-2

Oriental scoop neck silk at Mango and electric brights from ASOS own brand …..and my personal “so cute it kills me” favourite – this blue cotton piece of slash-necked sunshine.

And no it’s not because it’s got a cherry print.

It is a RADISH print.

Yup you heard me correctly – radish, as in the salad variety.

Do go take a trip to As Seen On Screen this evening if you fancy indulging in a spot of retail therapy, ’tis positively brimming with party-worthy items.

Why Miss Millen……

October 19th, 2009

You are rocking some mighty fine dresses this week I see.

Now I have two winter weddings to attend this year – both in the Cheshire area, both undoubtedly fancy.

So the question is – what on earth to wear to such sumptuous affairs? Don’t want to get chilly, don’t want to look like a librarian either……

….tried on what I thought was a cute wool number last week – looked like I should be peering over a pair of Deirdre Barlow type spectacles and saying “Quiet Please”.

So not a good look.

Hmmm.

I’ve began my search on-line and am already really quite impressed with a few of the frocks on offer over at Madam Karen Millen:

karen-1

Am loving the twinkly bits and one-shoulder bow detail ( would LOVE to see some winter bridesmaids in this) and this slinky pleated extravaganza comes in this gorgeous gun metal grey, a chic navy and a bold beautiful purple hue.

karen-2

A bit “office” admittedly but I adore the asymmetric hemline and how about perhaps adding a wide red belt and red bag for a flash of colour? HOT me thinks. Stud embroidery seems to be everywhere at the moment but I particularly like the different block neutral shades combined with the soft feminine georgette on this design.

So then…. what on earth shall I wear??

Have sent desperate email to Lady Luxe already today – am hoping she will come up with some inspired choices for little me ASAP.

Love

P.S Am aware that I have a habit of not picking the bright, the colourful or the prints as yet – will make it my mission to do so over the next week or so. Promise.

The Perfect LBD

October 9th, 2009

It’s that time of year people – dare I say it?

Christmas is a comin’ and party season is just around the corner.

And what should Mr Posty kindly put through our letterbox just this morning? non other than the new French Connection catalogue and my oh my are there some real pieces of perfection between those glossy pages.

In particular I am loving the range of LBD’s – all a little bit different and all a hell of a lot cool.

And I’m not just saying they are only suitable for shaking your stuff amongst the tinsel ( or any other festive frolicks under the mistletoe you may have planned) I’m actually thinking GORGEOUS options for winter wedding bridesmaids and guests alike.

FC-LBD-2

From left: Lovin’ the layered feminine frilliness and the flash of colour-pop pink is just divine…..

FC-LBD-1

From left: All over sequins for maximum sparkle and a simple pretty “pair with A.mazing shoes” style that you can wear again and again.

Check out www.frenchconnection.co.uk

It’s freakin’ frockalicious.

P.S Ok so maybe the all over sequin number is a bit much for Maid attire but I caved and ordered it for my own little piece of glitzy Xmas cheer ( I know – just can’t help myself)

Dolly Rockin’

October 1st, 2009

Have discovered a cool, kitsch and totally rock n roll on-line store today for your ultimate viewing pleasure – must share!

Full to the brim with stylish jewellery, clothing and all things retro DollyDagger may just be my favourite ever find – there are so many things I want to purchase…..

Am thinking great gifts for maids or even perhaps consider some of the flirty 40′s and 50′s inspired dresses for their big day attire? there are lots of designs in different colour ways and shapes and styles to suit just about anyone – I am officially in love.

On the “make your wardrobe rock” front perhaps consider one of these pieces of loveliness:

From left: The gingham sweetheart halterneck top, The 40′s shirt dress and The sweetheart polka-dot swing dress – all exclusively for DollyDagger

And who can resist these cuter than cute lobe enhancers? Hmmmm am thinking may have to get all three pairs in fact…

From left: Teapot earrings, Barbie heart earrings (by Tarina Tarantino) and….possibly my favourite of all……The “key to my heart” earrings

Lots more to see, admire and buy at www.dollydagger.co.uk

Lots of Dolly Love

All Hail The High Street

September 30th, 2009

Now I may be a tad biased here but I think there are some fantastic potential bridesmaids dresses available right on our very own high street.

I am especially loving all the shorter styles and neutral colours that are very “now” and as a neutral works well with any other colour scheme, flower selection or decor choice there will be plenty of scope to have a whole host of lovely things on your Big Day.

Here are a few of my favourites from Warehouse – you don’t even need to leave your sofa to order these beauties!

From left: I particularly like the prom feel of this little number and the layers on dress number two are both feminine and super-cute……

Warehouse-ivory-1

From left: This is a very classic “suit everyone” shape which would look great with some serious statement jewellery and I adore the lace scoop neck/sleeves of dress two – not at all revealing but a little bit sexy…..you know?

Happy on-line hunting!
