Smooth Operator.

Charlotte: You know how the majority of the population have some weird quirk or phobia or whatever? (every inch of me at this point is hoping and praying that a lot of you are waving your hands about saying yes! me! me!)….well mine is hair. As in hair on your body anywhere. On your bonce, your brows and your lash line absolutely fine (in most cases the more the better in those areas) but everywhere else? nope, nada, not-if-I-can-help-it-thank-you-very-much.
I couldn’t tell you what my under arm hair looks like because I’ve never seen it. As soon as I hit my mid-teens I was like the Boudicca of the Bic, a modern day warrior hosting a private daily war against my unyielding follicles – the razor being my ultimate weapon of choice.
Thank God I am naturally fair.
And it hasn’t ever changed. Every shower out comes the four-blade and the Waitrose vegetable soap (I’ve tried everything and this gives the best glide/silky results I’ve found), so practiced am I that I swear I can do a total body overhaul in under sixty seconds. I reckon I could even achieve 100% (and nick-free) smoothness blind-folded if the situation ever arose.
Now then, I missed out one teeny weeny detail (look away now as this may be frankly TMI*)…..
Apart from a small and very neat razored landing strip my entire bikini area gets waxed. All of it. Always have done, ever since I was seventeen and one of my best girls (she of dragon tattoo fame as it happens) told me about “Michelle”.… View the full post.
Blonde Ambition.

Charlotte: Do blondes have more fun? I’m afraid I wouldn’t know, I have only ever been a blondie so have nothing to compare the experience to. And that got me thinking, it seems all the RMW girls (and the one boy sort of) have fair hair so we got a talkin’ about the shade of each others locks, if it has ever changed, as a result of changing if there had been an effect on your personality/the way you feel about your appearance as a whole and what hue was chosen for the “most important to have an ace barnet” day of your life – i.e. W-day…
Please do join in with your current hair colour, any experiments you have embarked upon and what colour you will be donning whilst saying “I do” in the comments box below lovelies!
As I said before, I have only ever been blonde. I was born with a mass of platinum fluff that my Mum thought would be just hilarious to style in a mohican until I turned two when she then cut it into a rather unattractive bowl. When you have a head like the moon this is possibly the most unflattering style in the whole of the world.
I still haven’t forgiven her.
As I got older my blonde (as I guess is mandatory) became gradually darker, to a kind of golden honey in my teens and then a dirtier shade as I hit my early twenties. I had a few highlights, even a couple of reddish streaks when I was feeling particularly erm…daring but figured as my brows and lashes were so pale, blonde was the only option for me.… View the full post.
Big Day Flawless.
There is one thing that I would love to be able to walk around with all day and that’s a giant airbrush. Imagine lovelies, no more dark shadows, no more blotches, no more uneven skintone….
Make-Up artist and Love/Lust member Mariam Jensen specialises in the airbrush technique and has made literally hundreds of brides completely flawless for W-day. Mariam is going to share with us how airbrushing works both professionally and in the comfort of your own abode as well as giving us the lowdown on some of her favourite products for eyes and lips.
My favourite bit of a beauty feature? When the expert does exactly that – because they must have tried a lot of stuff right?!
Of course that’s not always a good thing. It just means I want to go out and buy everything they recommend….

Mariam Jensen: Airbrush makeup is very different to most retail products on the market. The makeup comes in a wide variety of bases and my personal favourite is silicone – it’s long- lasting and extremely durable. The product is applied with an airbrush that is fed by an air compressor, creating the finest and lightest application of makeup. Try Airbase for a great foundation that can be used with or without airbrush.
The benefit of airbrush makeup is that it delivers lightweight, long-lasting makeup that is able to stand up to the scrutiny of HD for film/TV and also high resolutions in digital photography, making it an ideal choice for brides-to-be.… View the full post.
Eve Lom v Liz Earle: The Verdict
Everybody knows I’m a massive Eve Lom Fan. I’ve been hooked on the cleanser, the moisturiser, the rescue mask, the eye cream… (the list goes on) since a few months before my own wedding and have used it religiously ever since.
However there has always been a niggling thought at the back of my mind – at £50 a pot it’s not cheap and there are several other ‘hot cloth’ cleansers on the market these days that also receive rave reviews for a fraction of the price. So on a budget drive recently I decided to purchase Liz Earles Cleanse and Polish cleanser and I thought I would share the results with you all, so you can make your own minds up.
The Champion
The Product – Eve Lom Cleanser
The Price – 100mls for £50 with a complimentary cloth from Space NK
The Hype – Described by Vogue as ‘the best cleanser in the world.‘
Looking like a very beautifully packaged tub of vaseline, Eve Lom Cleanser has quite a medicated smell. Packed full of herbs to sooth, deep cleanse and regulate your natural oil balance, (hence also managing spots) this is a smooth-on, massage-in cleanser, which melts into your skin before you buff it off with the muslin cloth soaked in piping hot water.
In fact, it’s not that easy and fans of a bedtime ritual will love the Eve Lom 6 step cleansing regime. Yes. SIX steps. If you’re a wash and go girl then it’s not for you.… View the full post.
The Naked Truth.

Let me start by saying I can only write from personal experience here. I’m not consulting any experts or offering advice as such – I’m just starting what I hope will be a useful and beneficial discussion you lovelies may embark on to make us all feel that little bit more normal about well…..being normal. And by that I mean spending a good majority of the time worrying about what we look like – size/weight in particular.
Firstly I guess I better give you the lowdown on me then eh?
Well I’m maybe what you would class as “petite”, 5″ 4 and a UK size 8. I have a small waist but a bum that sticks out like a shelf. I don’t have any hips ( I would very much like some please – would maybe balance out the shelf-like backside) and a rather long torso in comparison to my short stumpy legs.
I spend most days thinking I should lose a few pounds and picking fault with just about every part of my body. When I was in my late teens/early twenties it was much worse and I would obsess over everything I ate and exercise at any available opportunity. David Lloyd gym was my second home.
There was never a day I would get up in the morning and think “Gee I’m happy with my lot”. I wish there was but sadly….. there wasn’t.
Of course I am now far older and wiser in that I know how much exercise I need to do to keep my weight to what is for me healthy and stable and doesn’t make me want to go on some OTT crash diet (been there done that won’t be doing it again thank you very much).… View the full post.
