Accessory love for Anthropologie

June 6th, 2010

As you all know, Rock My Wedding is all about making your wedding unique, chic and personal to you so we are always looking for ways to infuse some individuality into your day. Neither Charlotte or I’s weddings were groundbreaking in terms of the style or content, but they were both full of individual details that made them a little bit different and very much ‘us’.

One of the easiest ways to put the style into your wedding is with accessories and standout jewellery was something that Charlotte and I both used to make the Bridal ‘look’ ours. I also allowed my Bridesmaids free reign in the accessory department, so they could feel like ‘them’ and also look like individuals instead of accessories themselves.

Judicious use of stylish accessories can be the easiest and a very cost effective way of putting your stamp on the day and with this in mind I went to one of my favourite shops for unique chic. Now situated on Regent Street, but with an online shop too, you can make a day trip of going to Anthropologie to choose some items or order a pile and have a very fun trying on party with your girls and some bubbles at home.

And don’t forget any of these could make prefect presents or accessories for your maids.

Seriously, why don’t more people wear long necklaces to rock the vintage vibe on W-Day?

*R-L: Condensation Necklace, £28.00, Tousled Web Necklace 48.00, Chiseled Drop Necklace £34.00.

Floral Fancies

I couldn’t help but include these, when looking for some belts to add to a bridal-gown-with-attitude, I stumbled across these perfect-for-maids floral sashes. For a print-tastic affair that Charlotte would swoon over or to jazz up a neutral Bridesmaids dress, this 3 colour-way sash is so definitely unique and still chic.

How cute is the little Bow? Stream Bank Sash – reduced to £14.95 – Budget chic too!

Heavenly Hair

The Bridal Market is full of headbands and accessories for both you and your maids, but few are as purse friendly as these. And, for the Bride who chose the sash above for her maids, why not add in the pin wheel hair clip below?

R-L: Gleaming Loops Headband, £28.00, Pinwheel Clip £16.00, Laureate Headband, reduced to £14.95.

So what do you think girls? Bridal Beauty? Honeymoon heaven or just Summer time lovin’, there’s something for you all on Anthropologie.

Make like a Magpie and go Vintage

May 28th, 2010

With Vintage being such a huge movement in weddings right now it’s hard to find a wedding that doesn’t have some vintage flavour to it. Whether you’re going all out vintage glamour or just want to give a nod to the past with whimsical accessories there’s one accessory designer that I have been saving to share with you all and I happen to think totally Rock a Wedding.

Magpie Vintage were a company that I actually looked at for my own wedding accessories as I loved their chunky signature necklaces – each one unique and made up of original vintage pieces reworked and restored to make stunning heirlooms of the future. And one of the best things about Magpie Vintage? You can add in any of your own family heirlooms or pieces to create something completely personal to you.

Lisa and Tania, the very lovely ladies behind Magpie Vintage just keep adding to the range of stunning pieces they create with headpieces, combs and fascinators in several ranges encapsulating hollywood glamour, fairytale and woodland whimsy and a helping of summer florals inspired pretty. The collection just seems to be going from strength to strength and I just can’t get over the perfectly styled details of each individual accessory.

Magpie Vintage has also successfully teamed up with Edwina Ibbotson to create a stunning collection of beautiful unique bridal head pieces. Created from deconstructed antique jewellery and accessories, vintage feathers, flowers and diamante and pearl buckles and broaches, all the pieces are individually designed by renowned milliner Edwina Ibbotson. Combining couture craftsmanship and the history behind each of Magpie Vintage’s wonderful finds these timeless creations are the perfect marriage between old and new. For the bride looking for something completely timeless with vintage credentials but modern elegance the Edwina Ibbotson for Magpie Vintage range should not be missed. Really, it’s quite something ladies.

In fact, so in demand are Magpie Vintage that you can find them in all the very best Bridal stores including Jenny Packham Accesories, Luellas Boudoir and in high profile Bridal Boutiques such as Sassi Holford, Phillipa Lepley and Nicki MacFarlane Bridesmaids. You can look for a Magpie Vintage stockist near you on the website or buy online.

Magpie Vintage has gone from strength to strength in the couple of years I have been watching them and I would love to see a few more Brides on the Rock My Wedding pages Rocking some vintage courtesy of these very talented magpies.

So can we tempt you or have you bought some Magpie Vintage to wear come W-day?

Yours Truly,

Rebecca

Vintage Shoe Love….

May 25th, 2010

We do get a little bit shoe obsessed at times behind the scenes at Rock My Wedding and when we started planning Va Va Vintage week as while back we had just met the lovely Jo from Emmy shoes, at Julia Boggio’s studio launch. Another wedding industry Pro that I have been wanting to share for some time, but have been waiting for the perfect occasion, Emmy shoes are vintage inspired beauties made with the most beautiful materials.

The lovely Emmy herself agreed to answer a few questions for us so lets start with finding out exactly what goes into the Emmy experience…

Can you talk us through the process a Bride goes through when purchasing an Emmy shoe?

The Emmy experience starts with a visit to a our gorgeously girly studio for a one on one appointment. We ask you bring along a swatch of your dress and a picture so we can help narrow down your choices from the vast range of possiblilties!

You will try on lots of different shoes to get a feel for what is comfortable and what suits you and your look, and then we will talk through the options to tailor the style you like to your personal vision. We can do this by making the shoe on different heel heights, so even if you need to go for a low heel there is no need to compromise on the glam factor, we also have lots of gorgeous materials to choose from, we work a lot in suede which is really soft and comfortable as well as looking and feeling luxurious.

Most brides find the most exciting part of the appointment looking at the different embellishments, we have lots of beautiful details in crystal, pearl, silk and beading, we are particularly excited at the moment about our new milk glass based trims which are going to be part of the new ‘Secret Garden’ collection. We also custom make hair decorations to match the shoes, or your dress, and these don’t take as long as the shoes, so lots of girls who don’t have 12-14 weeks left come to us for the perfect vintage style finishing touch.

Once you have designed your dream shoes they take 12-14 weeks to make and then we call you back for another appointment to try on your creations, check everything is perfect and take them away with you.

Can you recommend a particular shoe in the collection for each popular vintage era our brides might be channelling?

Many of the shoes in the collection are inspired by real vintage designs so we have lots of shoes really appropriate for creating a vintage look.

For the twenties look a shoe with a jewelled t-bar such as ‘Eva’ is perfect, especially if you go for the fan jewelling as this a classic twenties design shape. I’ve also designed some gorgeous art deco inspired hair decorations to complete the look, the fan and feather comb would be perfect for a flapper style dress.

*’Emmy’ and ‘Eva’.

I had a thirties style wedding dress myself, and designed the ‘Emmy’ shoe with some glamourous thirties style pearl and crystal beading round the topline to complement it perfectly.

For the forties look shoes tend to have a bolder shape, something with a platform such as our new ‘Hannah’ shoe would be gorgeous with a shorter forties style dress. There are a few option for a fifties style dress, a pointed sling back is a classic fifties shape, but for a slightly more glam look a peep toe court shoe is a fantastic option, I love the ‘Rose’ style with satin sash and crystal buckle with fifties dresses.

*’Hannah’ and ‘Rose’.

When you are creating a vintage look it is also worth considering softer colours such as blush, oyster or grey rather than white or ivory for the shoes, not only does this complement vintage style dresses, but you are left with a much more wearable pair of shoes you can treasure for years to come.

When you’re not wearing Emmy, which shoe designer is your absolute favourite to splurge on?

Apart from Emmy my shoe passion is for vintage finds, I love to browse flea markets in the hope of finding that hidden gem. I am lucky to have Camden Passage very close to my studio, which not only has a great market on Wednesdays and Saturdays but has the gorgeous Annie’s for a selection of very special pieces.

Emmy Accessories

Aside from all the beautiful shoe creations, Emmy also make a stunning range of vintage inspired accessories with head bands, combs and even a matching handbag for the Bride who can’t live without one!

Will you be wearing Emmy shoes for your big day?

Yours Truly,

Rebecca

Rock My Honeymoon Wardrobe….part 2

May 14th, 2010

So glad you all enjoyed part 1 and that so many of you lovelies have spied something potentially packable for your ‘Moon.

We love fashion here at Rock My Wedding and it makes us very happy bloggers indeed when we can share our fabulous finds with you gorgeous lot.

Without futher ado then…..onto part 2.

Evening Glamour

It’s my favourite colour for summer season again….this amazing aqua scoop neck shift would look stunning with a pair of silver sandals. £75.00 at Warehouse.

Every girl needs a summer LBD and Oasis is rocking it with this embroidered chiffon tunic -’tis the loveliest I’ve seen. I’m thinking big chunky bangles and gold peep toes to really up the sexy stakes.

Also over at Oasis is the dress I have fallen head over hells in love with. A soft grey one shoulder number with FEATHERS….

Dreamy. £150.00

Is it me or is French Connection really having a moment right now? This flirty 50’s style hot pink chiffon halter makes me go all a bit giddy with glee £130.00 ….and this quirky print is just so pretty – in queenie pink as shown here or phantom grey ( equally as delicious) £75.00

For the teeny tiny ladies amongst you this Hawaiian print puff ball is from the Miss Selfridge petites range – two words. SUPER. CUTE. £45.00

Essential Beach Basics

There are a lot of cheap and chic kaftans out there and at £55.00 from Warehouse this one is somewhat of a luxury. That doesn’t stop me wanting it though.

Due to their versatility I tend to buy long line vest tops every summer in a myriad of colours. My favourite for a flattering fit and still looking relatively pristine after a few rolling around in the sand/ subsequent washing sessions are these ribbed beauties again from Warehouse, only £8.00 each. The mint green ( featured) is particularly lovely.

For bargain short shorts you can’t beat these black poplin pair at £10.00 and if it’s a little less thigh flashing you’re after then these navy stripe numbers are PERFECTION. £20.00. Both from Dotty P’s.

Summer Flats

Make like Sienna Miller at a festival with these studded gladiator inspired flats £30.00 or continue the spring nautical theme with these “toepost” pair. £22.00. Both at Oasis.

I won’t apologise for the damage these Kurt Geiger “knowles” may have on your wallet. Your fashion concious feet will certainly thank you for it – even if your bank manager doesn’t. £195.00.

Anything you like?

Want to see some more?

I have a ton of ideas – just let me know what items you need and I’ll have a mooch.

Big I’m quite possibly going to go over the recommended 10KG weight restriction Love

Charlotte xxx

P.S Quite a lot of recommended Oasis pieces in todays post…. Good job they have 20% off then. Type in SS10OASIS at the checkout.

P.S.S Um, I don’t like to beg as a rule but can someone please have the feather dress for their bridesmaids? Would make me unbelievably happy so it would.

Rock My Honeymoon Wardrobe…..part 1

May 12th, 2010

Ok so honeymoon season is officially upon us and the shops are full to the brim with delectable delights to ensure you look pretty darn HOT on your first holiday as a Mrs.

Question is….

What to chose?

Well here’s where we come in, the RMW team ( yep we even flashed a few frocks at Adam to make sure they got the male seal of approval)….have searched high and low to find pieces that we think are absolute pack-it-now perfection and ended up finding so many that we will have to do it in two parts!

We’re not complaining however – ANY excuse to look at clothes ;-)

The Super Cute Sundress

There is no better way to show off a tan than to wear white and this little French Connection number is frilly, feminine and oh-so-pretty £75.00.

Karen Millen pulls out all the stops with this coral broderie frock, not terribly cheap but certainly very chic £135.00.

One of the most popular prints this season? why Paisley of course….and aren’t we lucky that Warehouse have designed a stunner. £60.00

Go girly in gingham with a strappy blue knee length or a shoulder bearing pink mini, both from Oasis £40.00 each.

Feeling fruity? then add some citrus floral brights, yours for only £25.00 at Topshop

The Pretty Playsuit

Ideal for throwing over your bikini before you hit the beach and as an alternative to the shorts/vest combo the playsuit is absolutely EVERYWHERE.

Chose from fancy flowers at Oasis £40.00 Bridget Bardot inspired pale blue polka dot at Warehouse £45.00 or stripy bandeau bunny girl at Topshop £25.00

The Turquoise Bikini

If you buy just one new bikini this summer make sure it’s a divine suits all shade of blue/green.

Pop over to Figleaves and find this gorgeous Seafolly nautical look beauty, bust enhancing retro lovely courtesy of Freya Swim and a reversible ( yes really – it can be colour block navy too!) halter neck treat from Moontide. From £22.00.

And another reason I selected these particular 3? the briefs cover your bum properly, none of this exposing the majority of each peachy cheek when you happen to get up off the lounger lark.

So then ladies, what and where from are you purchasing your honeymoon wardrobe?

Coming up soon in part 2, evening splendor, shoe candy, hot one-piece’s and whole lot of other fabulousness for the greatest holiday of your life.

Big “I’ve Got A Big Suitcase Full Of High Street Fashion” Love
