The Friday Treasure Hunt.

As you can imagine we receive lots of emails at Rock My Wedding HQ, lots and lots and lots…..

Recently I have noticed that there are many brides requesting advice from Team RMW on accessories and fashion for W-day that fit into a small to moderate budget. We are certainly not blind to the fact that we post a whole lot of delicious on these blue polka dot pages and that more often than not, that delicious comes with a hefty price tag.

So I’ve been on a little mission these last few days lovelies, I’ve been looking for the prettiest March buys that come in ( at least) under a hundred english pounds. As we all know, weddings are expensive, and often the budget can spiral completely out of control and there is simply no option but to reign it in. Unless of course you fancy selling a kidney, or for a pair of nude patent Laboutins perhaps even your soul….. ( I was tempted, VERY tempted folks)

And the answer is yes. We take it on the chin that us Blog Queens are often to blame for making you want to splash the ( not always available) cash.

Charlottes’ Treasure Hunt For Statement Jewels

I am ALL about the chunky cuff at the moment. Whether it’s beachy and bohemian like the Hedy from Coast £28.00 or the glamorous vintage inspired Mega Leaf from Mikey £40.00

And as much as I am all about the cuff I can’t resist a pair of “look at me” lobe candy. These Antique Heirloom bobby dazzlers from Glitzy Secrets look very fancy for £38.00 and Rebecca and I have been in raptures over these Art Deco numbers by Stephanie Brown at Liberty in Love for months. If someone buys them and wears them for W-day we will die. £90.00

Charlottes’ Treasure Hunt For Fancy Frocks

There are lots of lovely gowns out there. Thousands…… Millions even. But this one is my current favourite for maids. Its floaty, it’s feminine, it’s flattering and it comes in my colour palette of the moment – yellow and royal blue. Yours for the bargain price of £45.00 from Topshop.

Oh and if you decide to purchase one for your best girls then I want to be one of your best girls.

Charlottes’ Treasure Hunt For Very Sexy Veils

I wore a cathedral length veil for the ceremony and my Dad trampled on it the whole way up the ailse. Wasn’t the best way to make an entrance to be honest.

So, to avoid fathers with big feet and a distinct lack of spacial awareness…. pick a sexy short one instead. They rock.

And you can’t find more bargainous Bridal headwear than you can on Etsy, whether it be birdcage, fingertip or fabulous in feathers, this is the place to go. All of the above are under $100 including P & P to the UK.

We Have Plenty Of Pretty To Give Away…..for like FREE!!!!

You may or may not remember this beautiful little lady from last summer when we posted her wedding on RMW, I think you’ll agree that bride Becky was cute as a button in her gorgeous grecian gown, flawless make-up and DELICIOUS headpiece.

Ban.do Beautiful

So, it would seem that we are all about the hair accessories just recently… can’t imagine why that would be… ;)

After the rather formal but very glamorous Louis Mariette taking over our pages on Sunday with glittering jewel like pieces, we now have a post of still glamourous but completely different pieces by one of my favourite ever accessory designers… ban.do.

As I write this I’m actually feeling rather guilty for this gaping omission so far on our pages of pretty, for ban.do surely has some of the most whimsical, perfectly delicious and sweet as sugar creations for a bridal head to be decorated with, but if we always shared everything in our heads there wouldn’t be anything left to blog about. I’m mighty glad today is the earmarked day for us to share ban.do with you. Sure makes a Tuesday special!

The ULTIMATE Fairytale Fantasy.

Imagine some of the most decadent, luxurious and lavish jewellery and accessories on the planet. Then imagine those pieces of pretty being photographed by a world-renowned wedding photographer and styled by some of the most in-demand industry professionals in the business.

The ultimate fantasy right?

Well then lovelies, let us make your fantasy a reality as the uber talented Julia Boggio has sent Rock My Wedding an exclusive on the recent summer photoshoot at Hengrave Hall of the most beautiful Magpie Vintage pieces EVER.

With make-up by Kaz Fernando, styling by Kate Barbour and hair by Severin Hubert from the Hepburn Collection this is the kind of inspirational eye-candy that makes Rebecca and I literally jump up and down with girly excitement and glee…..

And not only do we get to share the romantic eighteenth century opulence of Marie-Antoinette but also a fresh modern take on incorporating an ice-cream dream of a colour palette into your Big Day with insight from both photographer Julia Boggio and Magpie Vintage’s very own Lisa Harris.

So then folks, may we suggest you take a few moments to sit down, relax, get comfortable and enjoy the show…. who knew Tuesdays could turn out to be such a feast for the eyes?

Lisa Harris – Magpie Vintage: For the Marie Antoinette hair shots we used our Bespoke necklaces which Sev pinned throughout the hair to create a draping soft look. We wanted to show the versatility of our pieces, they can be worn with jeans, a wedding dress and even in the hair!

We teamed with a 1920′s fresh water pearl encrusted ostrich feather for ultimate drama!

Lisa Harris – Magpie Vintage: Our Hollywood collection is a Labyrinth of beautiful rhinestone jewels worked into head bands, necklaces and bracelets. It doesn’t take much to show off the glamour and uniqueness of each piece which can literally be sitting around the studio awaiting complimenting pieces for years until we find the perfect match!

Julia Boggio – The Lowdown. Julia Boggio is well-known for her fun, quirky and colourful wedding photography, as well as her world-famous Vintage Boudoir (TM) photography. She has just been given the You & Your Wedding Bride’s Choice award for 2010 and won Entrepreneur of the Year at the Merton Business Awards.

Julia is also famous for having recreated the dance from Dirty Dancing at her wedding. The resulting You Tube video has had over 8 million views, with Julia and James appearing on Richard & Judy, BBC Breakfast, GMTV, Sunrise TV in Australia and The Oprah Winfrey Show in the US, where Julia danced with Patrick Swayze.

Aside from shooting glamorous weddings, Julia and James run a successful portrait studio in Wimbledon.


Julia Boggio: I leapt at the chance to work at Hengrave Hall when asked by Magpie Vintage to photograph their new range of jewellery. I’d been wanting to do a Marie Antoinette-style shoot for a while, so decided to start the day with this. Of course, I had to ask Severin Hubert to do the hair. I’ve been working with him almost since I started out and knew that he’d be able to handle the complicated updos.

Also, the fabulous Terry Fox is located nearby, so they leant us a wonderful range of dresses that were perfect for the style of shoot.


Julia Boggio: I wanted to get as many images out of the day as possible, so I decided to photograph two completely different sets of models: one as a single model and one as the couple. The blonde model brought her boyfriend along to play groom; he was such a good sport on the day and really got into it, despite me forcing him to play with a pink guitar!!.

There were a lot of different looks needed for make-up, so Kaz Fernando, who I work with on a regular basis and who does the make-up at many of my weddings, came along to tackle the job.

Kate, our trusty stylist, asked Marc Wallace to lend us the suits. We wanted a very summery outdoorsy sort of look and Marc’s colourful suits were ideal for this style. Last but not least, Magpie Vintage, as always, brought an amazing array of their bespoke antique pieces to the shoot.

Afterwards, the lovely people at Hengrave Hall let us all stay the night in one of their gorgeous cottages. I’m not going to lie to you; there was champagne involved….

Lisa Harris – Magpie Vintage: For the outdoorsy fun shots we focused on our Secret garden necklaces which are a host of original vintage finds. With our love of the soft French colour hues, and inspiration from the country garden the pieces are worked together to create a soft English Rose influence with a dash of quirkiness!

If The Shoe Fits.

So then…..

Let’s talk about one of woman kinds most delectable obsessions. Because let’s face it folks, what was it that led Prince Charming to the most beautiful bride in all of story book fiction?

Her flowing golden locks? Her pouffy swishy ballgown? Her ability to cook a mean Sunday roast?

No, Nope and triple Nada.

What lured his royal handsomeness to our favourite fairytale heroine was in fact the most perfectly fitted high-heeled SHOE.

And because the RMW team like to give you what you want, we have searched the United Kingdom far and wide for the prettiest soled fancy available. You lovelies have been asking and asking for this particular inspiration so we hope there is at least one pair here that makes your heart skip a beat ( and your Bank Manager not have an actual heart attack)

Usually I like to finish these style savvy pieces with my favourite, this time however I’m going to start with the one I love the most – variety being the spice of life and all that.

The ANA peep toe court by Ted Baker, made from a sexy shiny textured leather. I can’t imagine anything more glamorous poking out from beneath your bridal gown. £140.

Charlotte’s “Go With Everything” Picks

If you really want a colour pop but are concerned about a potential W-day frock clash then you can’t go wrong with soft greys and muted neutrals, they work with both bright white and ivory.

Dune have come up trumps with this seasons glitzy toe-detail selection that could just as easily be worn to the office Christmas party ( if you even need “another wear occasion” to justify a purchase that is)

Attention Grabbing Metallics

I have never owned a gold shoe. But I would VERY much like too – especially if they were as gorgeous as the diamante studded Gisella platform from French Connection. £95.

Subtle And Sophisticated Satin

If I were to take a genuine guess as to what shoes Madam ‘Rella actually wore to dance the night away with her ultimate fantasy man then I would simply say this: Crystal Encrusted.

Because seriously – if you were allocated a fairy godmother that could deliver ANYTHING you desired you just would wouldn’t you?
