The RMW Real Bride Search, GROUP 1:4 – Kitty & Al.

April 18th, 2012

Hello folks….This is real RMW bride group 1 number 4!

Have a good read and a butchers at the mood board and then please cast your vote for your favourite. You have now seen all 4 entires for group one and voting is now open. Good luck everyone!

I’m Kitty, and my fiancé is Al. We’ve been together for just over 3 and a half years, and engaged for 2 and a half of those! Our wedding is on Thursday 30 May 2013 – so we’ll have had quite a long engagement! We’re both quite laid back, and have the same silly sense of humour. The first time I met Al’s friends they apparently said I was like the female version of him, as we share a lot of interests, get each other’s weird little jokes and can be pretty geeky! We’re both into design and like quirky, pretty things and I really like anything that I can make (especially baked goods!).

We don’t really have set styles – we just tend to like what we like. Wedding dress wise, the princess styles I was drawn to online and in magazines turned out not to suit me when trying them on so I’ve got quite an open mind on that front. Although I do still love looking at them, which is probably something to do with my almighty love of Disney classics!

Although we didn’t really set out with a specific theme, we quickly started to notice things we didn’t like or didn’t want. The fact that we are working on a fairly strict budget has meant that we’ve decided to create a lot of things ourselves, which lends itself to a homemade feel. Our Georgian town house hotel venue is beautiful and means that we don’t have to go overboard with decor details because the setting is already stunning! We’ve decided to use different shades of pink to tie everything together, as it’s one of my favourite colours and doesn’t limit us too much.

One of the hardest things about being engaged for a while is having to wait to plan/book certain things. As a result of my enthusiasm/excitement, we’ve already got what we feel are important things (venue, photographer/videographer) booked – but we’ve now got to the stage where we’re starting to work with them a bit more on menu choices, engagement shoots etc etc. With just over a year to go, I’m just desperate to start doing all the PRETTY things, like looking at florists and sampling yummy cakes – and can’t wait to get stuck into some DIY stationery and table decor!

The RMW Real Bride Search, GROUP 1:3 – Rebecca & Dave.

April 18th, 2012

Hello folks….This is real RMW bride group 1 number 3!

Have a good read and a butchers at the mood board and then please cast your vote for your favourite from 4pm – there will be four brides to choose from in this group and they will be posted on the hour, every hour from 1pm.

Well, on the First of December 2010 Mr David Moore took his then girlfriend of nearly eight years to a restaurant in London for her 28th Birthday (an absolutely gorgeous restaurant, I may add) and after tucking into their wonderful first course he gave her one last present for the day, and after much blubbing and giggling and blubbing and more giggling Miss Rebecca Whitney said yes!

So Dave & I began our journey into ‘weddingland’, and after searching high and low had found the perfect venue, a field. But this was not just any field; this place had a treehouse bridal suite (I know!)We booked the field and started planning our wedding festival….sack races, coconut shys, camping and marshmallows around the campfire. Unfortunately there was a hitch with the venue and so after much discussion we sadly decided the field, with the treehouse bridal suite, would not be the place for us. Over a year after the proposal we were still searching for a venue, desperately seeking what we thought would be our dream wedding in the great outdoors, when we stumbled across something completely different, something even better…

The Gatsby is a 1930s inspired cocktail bar and restaurant that used to be the entrance to a one screen cinema. It may not be the field we were dreaming of, but as soon as we both entered the bar we knew we wanted our wedding reception there. It also didn’t hurt that the cocktails were yummy (well I had to test a couple, didn’t  I?!). Dave and I will be married in a small church in Hertfordshire on Saturday 22nd June 2013 and then we, along with our guests obviously, will spend the rest of the day and evening sipping cocktails in Art Deco heaven.

We are still in the early stages of planning our slightly 1930s inspired wedding and as with many couples we have a limited budget.  I am thoroughly looking forward to getting my hands dirty and making many elements of the wedding. Not only do I plan on making all the stationary, but I am also hoping to make my own fabric and brooch bouquet, thanks to RMW I have just made my first fabric flower hair clip, so a fabric bouquet should be no trouble, right?! Oh and being a cupcake addict I will be making cakepops for all! We have also discovered a new found love for charity shop hunting, we currently have 5 champagne glasses, 6 gold goblets and a wedding day handbag for me!

Ultimately we want to our day to be a true reflection of us; a couple who love nothing more than a night in with friends, drinking and eating cheese. Although this is usually accompanied by Singstar on the PS3 and I’m not sure how that will fit in…Suggestions on a postcard please…

Good luck everyone!

The RMW Real Bride Search, GROUP 1:1 – Sarah & Angus.

April 18th, 2012

Hello folks….This is real RMW bride group 1 number 1!

Have a good read and a butchers at the mood board and then please cast your vote for your favourite from 4pm – there will be four brides to choose from in this group and they will be posted on the hour, every hour from 1pm.

You are my mountain, you are my sea

I’m Sarah aka One Jolly Girl aka RMW addict and kilt fan, leading nicely on to Angus, my dude, my lover, my Scotsman. Together we are Team A&S. He produced the 1920s aquamarine rock in September 2011, the night before my 4 week holiday to Australia without him….  He makes the World’s best Vodka, and I make the World’s best cakes. (My claim is personally biased, his however is fact).

I’ll marry my lover in a place to admire

We have no *booked* venue but by the end of April we will have the deal done & THE DATE. We are pencilled in for August 2013.

Our top choice Venue is in Argyll, Scotland – We would have exclusivity of the whole venue and 20 acres of grounds – including indoor swimming pool, 3 hot tubs and a bouncy castle. Hopefully our ceremony shall be on the nearby beach (this would be our absolute dream come true) we’re planning a roaring ceilidh and late night disco as the venue has no curfew.

I’ve got buttons for my coat & sails for my boat

With 16 months to the wedding still to go I am sure it is no surprise that I’ve found my dress – priorities. But I’m holding off the purchase until we’ve got that date.

I love this year’s ice cream palette which we have borrowed as the wedding colours for the maids and decorations. We want things to coordinate but not matchy matchy. There will be flurries of tartanous colour from the man guests – and maybe a cheeky naked bottom.

Sucking up alert : up to 2009 if you’d asked me about my imaginary wedding it was pretty standard, church, hotel, speeches, food, ceilidh & someone taking a few cheesy posed pics. Then someone told me about RMW and well I LOVED it, I quickly became addicted to it. I started collecting pictures and ideas (before Pinterest!) as I started to realise there was so much to choose from.

Our friends seem impressed with the amount of ideas we have for the wedding so here is an attempted summary: a super sized house party, no church, lots of games, streamers, vintage china, bright pastel table clothes, hand tied flowers, lacey pretty, beautiful branded stationary, a gallery of cake, a barefoot bride, teal typewriter, dancing & bouncing, musical laughter, a pimped up campervan, a white dress change, a Team Quiz, & our closest friends & family.

I feel like a RMW inspired bride – and whether I am one of your real brides or not I am majorly grateful for the inspirational pretty.

Giggling on the ground, I’ll pick you up and spin you around

Sunday Swoon.

March 4th, 2012

As in – here’s something for you gorgeous lot to swoon over.

This is the wedding of Jonathan and Emma by Kissing Gate Video – lots of pretty and just well…..love really.

And the dress? Vera Wang folks – it is all kinds of immense.

Emma The Bride: It is definitely a life changing moment when someone asks you to marry them -even if it is enevitable – but I was still so surprised how much it meant to me to suddenly want a big white wedding with all of the traditional elements with family and friends, even my beautiful Vera Wang was a dress so different from what I thought I would wear (more meringue than slinky!).

I knew that I wanted a theme and being a winter wedding which I have always wanted and the fact it was just the other side of Christmas, we decided on stars… You would think that would be easy but it was incredibly hard to find star themed anything that I liked but I had set my heart on it and so persevered.

Our colours were easy, silver for stars and winter and midnight blue, Jonathan didn’t want to wear a black suit (I quite fancied black bridesmaid dresses) so it was navy/midnight blue instead and I think that was the best decision. The colours worked really well especially as we had an evening wedding so the silver added a bit of glitz to the day and midnight blue beautifully captured the sky as it turned to evening.

My sister and I made the table plan over the Christmas break at our parents which was great fun and I felt so happy to have created something personally for our wedding.

Choosing our photographer and videographer was absolutely crucial as these are the memories that live with you forever, photos and video is something that we can revisit for the rest of our lives so we chose very carefully. The photographer, Jay Rowden, is a long time friend who creates the most beautiful and contemporary photos and when he recommended Ben at Kissing Gate I knew that together they would make the perfect memories… And together they have.

We have the most amazing photos and video footage and not forgetting what a fabulous day we had with them, they are hilarious and created such a fun and relaxing atmosphere whilst I got ready and during the day… In fact if Ben was single he would have had a few propositions from the single ladies at our wedding!

We had the most perfect wedding for us, very laid back, lots of Northern love (I’m from Leeds) and the most wonderful venue and staff, our smiles say it all, A Perfect Day.

A perfect day indeed.

Have a lovely Sunday RMW’ers

Charlotte xxx
