Planning

Today's images come from a recent workshop hosted by the lovely Amber of Liberty Pearl Photography, Renate of Wit Photography and our Wedding Stylist favourite, Elle of Inspire Hire. The concept of the shoot was to show that it's possible to recreate the gorgeous scenes we often find of coastal weddings on Pinterest right here on UK shores. And the St Moritz Hotel made the perfect backdrop. The ladies have also shown how you can take the ideas found in styled shoots and incorporate them into your own big day - you'll find two sets of images below, one with an editorial vibe and one that very much feels like a real wedding. Enjoy the escapism lovelies, the styling and scenery will transport you to sandy shores and gently lapping seas...

The Workshop

Elle at Inspire Hire: This inspirational shoot was designed for a Photography workshop, but as with all shoots I design I am really thinking about inspiration for brides and grooms to take away for their own celebration styling. With the massive world of Pinterest inspiration available to us now, our Pinterest boards are full of weddings from all over the world, we are often looking at beautiful images from Marrakesh, to the Greek, or Balearic Islands, beautiful images from Spanish and Italian weddings, not to mention sunny affairs from across the pond and Australia and New Zealand. Sometimes recreating these details for a wedding in dear old Blighty might seem unlikely, and unachievable! For this shoot I wanted to show how you can inject your English wedding with some of those lovely exotic influences from around the globe, right hear on British soil – or in the case of our shoot – the sand!

The Styling

Our styling takes influence from the Mediterranean and Morocco with an exotic pallet of blues, aqua and green finished of with brass details. I used these seaside jewel colours to design our table scape. I shared my inspiration with our stationery designers and cake artists, as well as a jewellery so that every element of the styling reflects these influences and colours. Obviously our shoot location was on the beach, but any of these styling ideas would bring the same exotic feel to a marquee or indoor wedding venue. Whatever the weather! Pattern and texture are very important when designing a look for your big day, think about injecting colour with your linen, or your glassware and china. Add a warm luxurious feel by using brass accessories such as candlesticks and vases. Finally think about your stationery, and even your cake as part of the décor, both of these elements are as much a part of your design scheme as your flowers!

The Fashion & Beauty

Our beautiful dresses were chosen to be suitable for an English coastal wedding, they are light, comfortable and have lots of movement and texture, whilst still being easy to pick up and carry if you fancy dipping your toes in the ocean or running along in the surf! I am a huge fan of the wedding jumpsuit we have featured, how perfect for a beach wedding, at home or abroad! Our hair and make up choices were relaxed and natural, if you are planning a coastal wedding be prepared for the British weather, its often windy at the beach, so going for something more natural will be much more practical than having a do that should look immaculate. One of the fabulous things about creating styling for a photography workshop is watching how different photographers capture similar elements in their own individual style. I love how Amber (below) and Michelle (above) each tell a different story with their images!
