Cry Me A (Pink) River.

What have we here then? a bit of celebrity gossip on RMW?!

Not exactly – it’s certainly not NEW news as it were….but I do have a little Blog Queen soft spot for the Trousersnake (ever since he was dumped by Britters and went from Disney popstrel to man-with-cool-trilby and serious dance manoeuvres.)

Anyways. He recently got married in Italy to the very beautiful Jessica Biel. And as with any A-lister nuptials, there was much hoo-ha and speculation over THE DRESS.

Who was the designer going to be?

What would it look like?

Would she wear a veil?

The gown was by Haute Couture designer Giambattista Valli and was (as you can quite clearly see from the picture) not white, not ivory, not champagne but…..pink.

I love it. I think it makes her look like a princess out of a story book that has a Once-Upon-A-Time beginning and a Happily-Ever-After type ending. I like her very shiny up do with side swept fringe and dazzling beam. I like the fact that out of what I’m sure must be thousands of offers of sexy numbers for W-day she went with something a bit left of field.

Maybe pink is just her favourite colour?

And why not wear your absolute favourite colour?

My favourite colour is blue. My Mum wore it on her big day back in the 70′s…..and you know what? although I say never have any regrets, a little part of me wishes I had maybe taken a leap of faith and swathed myself in layers of chiffon the colour of summer skies.

And as it’s Friday and lunchtime we have an EPIC wedding coming up (seriously – one of my favourites of the year so far) I thought we could have a little discussion about what you think about Jessica’s frock….coloured W-day gowns in general and well….maybe a little bit of celebrity wedding dress worship?

My “on day I might get to wear something like that” number will always be Louise Redknapp’s Dolce And Gabbana with butterfly motifs….

Big Pink (?) Love

I love it. She looks like a dream. My mom had blue bridesmaids at her wedding and she still has one of their dresses in pristine condition. For a few months I was wearing it for the big day…until I tried a corseted dress and fell head over heels. Id love to see more coloured wedding dresses. I think when done right it can be better than ivory/white in a million ways.

One day I’ll wear the gorgeous soft blue, bat winged/caped sleeve beauty that was my moms bridesmaid dress. I will. And it will be immense.

P.s. how amaze does JT look too?! LOVE a tux at a wedding!

    Morning,
My favourite celeb wedding dress also has some pink in it. I loved Gwen Stefani’s ombre pink dress. Mine however is white but I am never elegant enough in real life to pull off wearing a white dress, I’d have a mark on it my lunchtime so I am looking forward to having the perfect excuse. x

  3. Pamela says:

Firstly, my mum is all over this – she loves a bit of Justin and always says he reminds her of when I was 17 and used to dance round the front room to MTV in a pair of hotpants…weird, times haven’t changed much, cause this still happens, I just don’t live with my mum anymore…

Secondly, before I get started on the dress, can we also create some kind of accolade for Biel’s services to the fringe? Her bangs are always perfect and I am well jealous.

Dress is incredible…I read an interview with her fairly recently about how since she has been with Justin he has really encouraged her to push the boat out with style…and that sometimes he dresses her as she can be a bit of a frump! (Her words not mine!). I think her choice of dress is a lovely nod to this and I only wish more boys would ‘get’ girls fashion! Although recently, a man has surprised me, enjoying wide leg, printed palazzo pants, a crop top and a burgundy velvet hair bow(on me, not him)…

    @Sarah – totally agree about Stefani’s dress…

I also was really into Holly Valance’s recent choice – you know what, if I was so beautiful I could pull off a dress that looked like it had been dragged through the mud and carry a bouquet that looks dead…I just might…

I was also very excited by Blake Lively’s character’s Gossip Girl wedding dress – gold – yes please.

    xo

  4. @Becky – That sounds amazing! I wish Mum had kept hers – I would wear that too, we were about the same size as well. I always said to Mr O’Shea that is we ever re-new our vows (Vegas baby!) then I will wear some kind of blue chiffon ombre creation…. ;-)

@Sarah – As per my comment above, I too loved Gwen’s dress. And talking of Gwen – how amazing does she look for 40 odd?!

@Pamela – Yes I too dance around the house in hot pants…still. I also read the bit about Justin giving her style advice – that’s cute. AND a big yes to Holly Valance’s frock – that was HOT.

As much as I love Justin, this photo just makes me CRINGE. Look at J-Biel’s face, like “I’m barely tolerating this idiot behind me, but he’s loaded and he aint called trousersnake for nothing so i’ll smile and bear it”

Gorgeous dress, but I’d love to see a full length pic, im sure it’d look much more flattering on her! xx

  6. Rebecca says:

ha ha @Karen – you crack me up! definitely thinking ‘oh for goodness sake can we not just have 1 normal picture’!!! heehee
But I have to say I really like this pic – but maybe that’s just coz I’m a little immature and would rather be jumping around than trying to look elegant & pretty!!

As for the dress, looks fab – would never have expected her to wear pink, but I think it works!

@Charlotte @Sarah @ Pamela – I absolutely ADORE Gwen Stefani! Ever since Don’t Speak I have been a humungous fan. I even bought a checked dress & bindis to recreate that music video look! (sad, I know!!) and now this talk of her is making me want to find some more bindis….anyone have any ideas on where on earth I get them from – seems Claire’s Accessories have stopped selling them!!! (boo)

  7. Pamela says:

@Charlotte – I think she looked like a very pretty corpse bride and I also was not expecting that from her which means I doubly enjoyed it. I mean, who’d have thought it from her ‘Kiss Kiss’ neighbours days, certainly not me!

@Karen – hahahahahahahaha. You are totally right. I imagine she is thinking, “If that blinking idiot lands on my hem there’s going to be hell to pay. Someone had better be on hand with a comb in case I get so angry and my fringe splits down the midlle. Oh god, oh god.”

  8. Karen says:

@Becca – haha but Jessica IS trying to look elegant and pretty. This is basically my entire life in one picture… Lee trotting around being a clown and me tolerating him!

hahaha can’t believe you rocked a bindhi that’s amazing.

@Pamela – So jealous you can work a crop top!! I look like that time Britney Spears spent all her time at McDonalds at the moment!

@Charlotte – I’ve just gone back and read your back to basics post. This was all before my time as a bride to be so I wont drag up old beef, but wow I AM IN LOVE WITH YOUR PARENTS. It used to be just your Dad, but now I have a full on Mum crush too.

One last thing, just look at you now baby! xxx

  9. Becky says:

@charlotte…I am sending you a pic of the blue beauty. It would fit you a dream. Its like a little bit of floaty heaven x

  10. Karen says:

@Pamela – that fringe aint going nowhere. There is clearly a team of stylists stage left, ready to leap in with a can of Insette and some fresh lip gloss.

Oh God, i’ve just re-looked and focussed in on JT’s weedy ankles by accident. WHY???

It’s one of those days today isnt it? xx

  11. Karen says:

@Becky – Girl, get yourself an avatar so we know it’s you! ;) x

  12. You girls crack me up.

I actually didn’t mind Justin jumping – it made me laugh, although @Karen you are right…I think Jessica looks like she’s putting up with it (!)

@Pamela – Bless you. They are the coolest couple ever. And still majorly in love – even after 42 years together.

  13. Pamela says:

@Karen – hahahaha the crop top was a series of much ‘will she, won’t she’ debate in my apartment last Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To the point where I even missed a bit of Strictly…

I was still unsure, although I was made to feel miles better when I heard the older man on the phone to his mate the next day, (clearly thinking I was still asleep), saying, “Younger women wear crop tops. Like I was actually stood in a bar with a girl who had her navel on show. It was amazing, mate.”

I am now all for a crop top!!!!!!!!!!

  14. Katie says:

I’ve got to say, I also hate the pic… it really reminds me of the hideous Tom Cruise/Oprah moment… *cringe*!

Jessica is a beauty though, I just want to crop JT out!

    xoxo

  15. Pamela says:

@Karen & @Charlotte – oh god, I’ve just read the Back to Basics post and have cried. In the office. They already think I’m mental for reading a wedding blog when I cancelled my wedding and I believe this has now confirmed it in their eyes.

I also have just splattered mascara over my lovely shiny presentation.

  16. Mel says:

Er please how high can JT jump!!! Should have been in the Olympics no?
Still I adore the pink dress – showed the better half and he said “looks like candyfloss… I like candyfloss, so I like the dress” – glad he’ll be easy to please when I start my own search (look for dresses resembling his favourite foods…wine gums, bangers and mash etc…)

  17. @Katie – I never saw that moment in “real life” just clips and you’re right – scary cringe…but then I’m not a Cruise fan either. Apart from maybe Top Gun…it was the Aviators ;-)

@Mel – That comment made me laugh out loud (!) I am going to hold you to a wine gum dress.

@Pamela – But does splattered mascara somehow make it look “arty” ?

  18. Gem says:

Pink is not my fave colour but i love that she broke the mould a little.

@ Dawn porter’s recent nuptials she wore a william vintage sky blue chiffon gown that used to belong to some princess in europe – it was amazing – but im a sucker for vintage!

  19. Rebecca says:

@Karen – his ankles were the first thing I noticed!!!!! they look like my weedy arms could snap them in one go! ha ha (not a great look for a bloke!)

& yup I sure did rock it – much to the dispair/confusion of my family!!! ha ha

@Becky – agree about the tux I am desperately trying to get Dave to agree to wear one for the wedding! (fingers crossed I’ll get my way!!! ;-) )

And meant to comment on the fringe love – GO FRINGED LADIES – we rock! :-D

  20. Pamela says:

@Charlotte, no there is not a hit of ‘artiness’ about it – it just looks contributes to the ‘she’s a manic’ look people give me when they see my desk. Tidiness never was my strongest suit. Unless it comes to my necklaces. They are all very well looked after in tissue paper, bubble wrap and secret boxes.

@Rebecca – yes, yes, yes – fringes do rock. Without mine I look like Matt Lucas when he dressed up as a baby on Shooting Stars…honestly. People always so, “Noooo you can’t”, and then I show them and they’re like “Oh”

  21. Carys says:

I’m not a fan of pink at all but it does give her dress a very angelic, romantic feel and she looks lovely!

This is a slightly random story but when I was 14 I was roped in to help model wedding dresses for a Women’s Institute evening. One dress I wore was the biggest meringue you will ever see and it was a dusky pink. I felt like one of those pink elephants in Dumbo. My 14 year old self found the whole experience rather horrendous. Photos were taken but fortunately they are nowhere to be found!

  22. Tabitha says:

If someone had asked me without seeing this if I would like a pink wedding dress I would have definitely said no…but this is so pretty and such a lovely shade of pink that it’s still really bridal and she looks amazing!

One of my fave weddings on here had a bride with a coloured dress. Ya know the one where the groom wrote the report. This one:

    http://www.rockmywedding.co.uk/dan-the-man-part-1/

It’s such a beautiful shade of blue and perfect for a destination wedding!!

  23. Amy says:

I read Mr Trousersnake had been practicing a tongue-in-cheek dance for lucky Mrs JT. Apparently it was to ‘It’s Gonna Be Me’ a track from his days with NSync, which was a favourite of Jessica’s when she was younger. He had his ushers and best man performing too!
The Sun newspaper reported it, so it must be true…
Oh, what I would have given to choreograph that dance! Here’s a link to the story x

  24. Lou says:

Normally when I hear or read the words ‘pink wedding dress’ my brain immediately goes to Jordan…and then I’m sick in my mouth a tiny bit. But this one is actually quite good isn’t it? Not sure what Trousersnake has sat upon to cause that reaction though!
And I’m off on my hen night starting frommmmmmmmmm….NOW!x

  25. @Carys – I think you are fibbing…those pictures have to be SOMEWHERE.

    ;-)

@Lou – Oh how exciting! have a fabulous time pet.

I didn’t think I was a fan of pink wedding dresses until I saw this: http://iloveswmag.com/2012/09/04/texas-wedding-with-a-pink-wedding-gown/

and then I fell head over heels in love and am thinking about trying it on when I go to the States in December! xxx

  27. Amy R says:

Oh…my…giddy aunt! This dress is a.maz.ing!
I too have loved Gwen’s dress for a long time and always thought I’d have a blush/pink coloured dress as I never wear white because I’m the girl who spills every meal – I already know there will be a bib joke in my dad’s speech!
I fell in head over heels in love with a blush Naomi Neoh dress and travelled a long way to try it on but when I went to try it on I looked like one of those ladies people put over toilet rolls in the 70s/80s: not quite the look I was going for!
However, I’m kind of glad I went for ivory because a few weeks ago whilst watching Don’t Telk The Bride, the h2b saw a blush hued dress and was absolutely horrified by it. I nearly did some sick in my mouth at his reaction and hadn’t even bought it- can you imagine if I had?!
Anyway, I LOVE my dress but there’s still a princess part of me that would like a pink one. Maybe I’ll get some very pink shoes to satisfy the coral cravings…

  28. Amy R says:

Oh, the English teacher in me has spotted lots of mistakes. Damn the small iPhone keypad and Pinot Grigio. Apologies!

  29. Annie says:

Really really not into pink gowns.

If I had to wear a celeb frock I’d totally pick Mossy’s.
