It’s a quick pretty idea for your tables this week guys and something that I’m seeing popping up everywhere…. DIY Milk glass.
Milk glass is, as with all things vintage, becoming quite fashionable again, but sourcing original vintage pieces can be time consuming and expensive. Why not have a go at recycling charity shop finds and using interesting jam and sauce jars from your own kitchen cupboard to recreate these pretty tablescapes. Best of all the idea works with so many schemes. Keep it simple and all white with white glass and white flowers or make the vases the theme using pastel shades as per the DIY instructions. Mixed up white vases make a perfect backdrop for a brighter flower scheme as in the photos below or mix with mercuried silver and clear glass for a whimsical ethereal look by candle light.
I. LOVE.

If you’re not fancying your hand at being creative (and shame on you for not trying
, ) milk glass can be purchased from ebay and often pops up in charity shops. Ikea also sells lots of small white vases. If you are feeling creative, find interesting thrift pieces to do this with, pressed and cut glass look all the better for it.
Will you be trying out this weeks DIY project?
Yours Truly,
Rebecca

Oh you’ve read my mind Rebecca. I’m helping to organise a dear friend’s big birthday this weekend and….
I’ve been collecting jam jars, (herb bottles are pretty good too) and inspired my Aisling’s wedding I have tim cans. And some Cox and Cox in the sale votives. As we speak my kitchen table is full of white flowers and I’m about to buy some more.
We also have white personalised paper napkins inspired by your DIY Devotee post the other week.
Happy Friday x
Um, hello adorable milk vases! I love these because they’re classic with a vintage feel, and the white makes the bright colored flowers just pop.
got 63 jam jars all lined up in the bathroom ready to be painted white and some grey…i was hoping to get some unusual charity shop finds, like weird little ornaments i could spray paint but i trawled through about 10 charity shops this week and found nothing at all! whats happening?!….
They’re great aren’t they?
I actually had designs on doing this (white vases from ikea, plus DIY milk glass plus mercuried votives and vases) for my own big day but changed my mind. It would be perfect for anyone contemplating DIY florals as it’s super easy to fill all the little vases with bunches of the same flower the day before and just have someone lay them out.
Loving the grey and white idea Linzi! Grey is so fab for weddings. Charity shops can be so hit and miss though, it’s annoying.
Very Happy Friday everyone.

Seeing the words ‘Inspired by Aisling’s wedding’ has just turned my crappy 13 hour work day into a lovely shiny Friday! Yay Rachel! I hope you have a fabulous time at your friend’s party!
Supermarkets are great for cost effective cute little vases too- Tescos and Morrisons especially so!
