Right, It’s time for some paper goods. I’m having a moment with Origami right now – all started by my huge fan love for Amy Moss from Eat Drink Chic’s super pretty paper origami heart Surprise Wedding Invitations. Since then Charlotte and I both found another Origami DIY , so get those fingers nimble and enjoy!

Origami Heart Invitations

Swooooooon!

For Amy’s Surprise wedding she didn’t forgoe unique chic when it came to her invites, instead making beautiful origami heart invitations for her guests, inviting them to the pseudo engagement party albi for her planned surprise wedding! I’ve totally lost my heart to these and have actually had a go at making them. They’re actually really easy to do, and I reckon with a little practice they’d be easily knocked out over a bottle of wine with your girls, without any instructions.

You could do so much with these, from invites, to menus to escort cards, you just need a little imagination and some free time. Amy has written two posts about them (the how-to and her experience making them,) on her blog containing some links to a how-to video for those who need a little hand holding thorugh craft projects. You can even download a printable with the text on. Do make sure you go and read the full post.

Origami Flowers

First up, Charlotte’s Paper flowers found on FoldingTrees.com

Paper themed wedding anyone?

I can so see these at each guests place setting as a little bit of table decor or decorating a wishing tree’s branches. Or maybe go the whole hog and make your bouquet and the maids out of paper flowers like these in different sizes and colours to save more than a few pennies too.

Origami Baskets

Next up, these were just too cute for words and I love the idea of having lots of these lined up on a sweetie table in polka dot patterns, preppy stripes or Cath Kidston Florals. Alternatively use them at place settings with little tags for name places and filled with sweets, (super cute with mini-eggs and straw at Easter!) Via Bloomize.

Head over to Bloomize for the whole wider origami baskets tutorial.

Love them! Anyone for an origami invite?!

Yours Truly,

Rebecca

Omg. Those origami hearts just captured MY heart! How lovely are those? The perfect thing is they look so personalized and complicated, and they’re totally DIY.

  3. How cute are those Origami Heart Invitations! So different! I may just have to have a go.

  7. Glad you like girls :)

Those heart invites are a.mazing and super cute.

The images for the other 2 projects don’t do them justice I don’t think… the baskets would be amazing in different colours/patterns as favour baskets or for a sweetie table.

  8. PS… Charlotte, I’ll make you a heart :)

I am soooo going to use the flower origami somewhere in my wedding. I’ve just looked at the website and they’ve made balls out of them- I’m thinking of attempting them and hanging them from trees. Thank you for this post :-)

DIY devotee is my favourite post I think

P.S. I am desperately trying to figure out where to use the hearts too! Think I may save it as a cute note for my fiance if I have no luck

Love love love this post! I recently made some of the paper flowers in translucent metallic grey paper and bright pink paper and they look fab (if I’m allowed to say so) They are quite fiddly but well worth it. My tip would be to use hair grips or paperclips to hold them together when gluing – it worked a treat!

Thanks for the tip Kim!! I’m thinking of giving them a go tonight x
