When we first started DIY Devotee I asked for you guys to send your own wants and needs for inspiration and it would appear the Winter brides are feeling a little bit neglected. Now that is the last thing we want, and although we’re trying to desperately cling on to this sorry excuse for summer we’re having, I’m already longing for a little chill in the air, winter scarves, fresh frosty morning smells and morning mist hailing clear Autumn days.
So when I spotted this cute as a button DIY project over on Blue Light Bride I was mentally jumping right on to December and planning my Christmas table already! It has to be said however, if you’ve a little imagination this would make a stunning cake topper for any season and I have a MASSIVE thing for birds – if that’s a theme idea that floats your boat!
If you’re an Autumn bride how about making this with a cranberry garland to incorporate the seasonal berry look and tinting the base a warm champagne colour? Or for a Spring/Summer look maybe little pink or yellow love birds would finish off your cake?
For the full DIY post head on over to Blue Light Bride!
Fancy a little love bird winging it’s way to your wedding?
Yours Truly,
Rebecca

love the birds they are very cute, very pretty and doesnt look difficult to make xx
Hoorah for winter weddings!! Anyone else getting married in winter but not really want a wintery theme? Think bright pink cardy rather than white fur stol
So how are you keeping it non-wintery Alice?
I’m thinking bright pink and gunmetal gray….

Actually we don’t have a colour scheme but the boy is wearing grey and I will get pink in my outfit somewhere (I do that everyday). Its more what I’m not doing no fur no red no gold no ivy (especially no ivy sprayed gold thanks mum) and no velvet dresses for me or the bridesmaids (thanks mother in law to be) All the colours and fun of a summer wedding but just just with thermals. I have found when you mention winter wedding people are automatically thinking winter wonderland. I don’t dislike the theme its just not me. I am hoping it will snow though!
Perfect – I m having a winter wedding and as much as I love the website and all your posts I would love more winter wedding posts, please can you have a look at doing some DIY on wedding wreaths and winter wedding garlands, would love to see a diy tutorial on making crystal trees too. My colour theme is aubergine and silver – thank you for making me even happier than usual on a friday xxxx
Ah, these are SO cute! Too bad I’m already married

Alice- LOVE those ideas! It has made me think of a Gap campaign a few years back. All the models looked gorgeous bundled up in wintry stuff but in bright colours and without it being too twee. Desperate to see a moodboard now!
