DIY Small Rustic Crate Table Centrepiece.

I’ve been beyond excited to be able to share this afternoon’s DIY with you because it is so darn pretty and I’m extraordinarily confident that you will think the same too. Simple and super easy to recreate at home I can see this finished centrepiece accessorising a barn or vintage wedding perfectly.

What’s more you can tailor this DIY to suit your budget and your colour scheme accordingly. Want to splash out? Why not choose more extravagant blooms to fill your crate. If blue isn’t your colour theme of choice then opt for pinky blooms such as blush peonies or peachy snapdragons.

And lastly please all the grannies and great aunts in your life by gifting them their own special crate once the big day is over. They’ll be over the moon to receive such a gorgeous gift and you won’t have to worry about hundreds of flowers going to waste as you jet off on honeymoon.

DIY Small Rustic Table Centrepiece – What You Will Need

Pink Wax Flower
Pittosporum garnetti
Dahlia Cafe au Lait
Sweet Avalanche
Dill
Blue Veronica
Delphinium
Blue Hydrangea
Small wooden crate 30cm x 20 cm used here

The Steps

1. Line the wooden crate with cellophane or even a plastic bin bag.
2. Cut the oasis to size and soak it in a bucket until it is soaked through.
3. Place the oasis inside the crate on a plastic oasis tray.
4. Edge the box with foliage and Wax Flower.
5. Position your key flowers in the oasis.
6. Remember when cutting the stems to length, to cut them on a diagonal to increase their surface area to drink the water.
7. Fill in the spaces in the oasis with other flowers.
8. As this is going in the centre of a table make sure it looks good from all sides. Look at it from above as well as the height you would view it from when sitting at a table and fill in any gaps.
9. This centrepiece is perfect for a rustic wedding, perhaps in a barn or tepee and can also be used as a welcome on your card or gift table.

How beautiful is this centrepiece then – perfect for those of you planning a rustic outdoors affair. If you’re on the hunt for a rustic crate just like the one used in this DIY then I heartily recommend that you pop along to the website of The Wedding Of My Dreams where we sourced many of the props used in this Floral DIY series; you can find all the wonderful bits and pieces by clicking here.
