Everything I Ever Wanted And More.

Yellow makes me smile. It’s the colour of sunshine and buttercups and joy and hope.

How lucky am I then that not only did Louise and Dean incorporate lots of this happy hue throughout W-day but Louise also donned one of my all time favourite frocks (found right here on these very pages)….

Oh and there is heaps of dove grey. And pink. And an abundance of beautiful blooms…..not to mention an irresistibly cute cheese cake topper.

Louise and Dean were married at Winter Barns in Canterbury, RMW Sponsor Julia and You was there to capture every moving moment.

Enjoy lovelies.

Shades Of Grey

The bridesmaids wore grey one shoulder, asymmetric dresses from Lipsy. I wanted them to wear dresses they felt comfortable in and hopefully they will wear them again. We accessorised the dresses with nude shoes, a pink clutch bag and yellow and white flowers in their hair.

Mellow Yellow

For the groomsmen we purchased grey suits which worked out almost as cheap as hiring them. The best men wore pink ties, the dads wore lilac ties and Dean wore a yellow tie to tie in with the flowers and the rest of the colour scheme.

Dean wore a grey three piece suit from Ben Sherman on Saville Row which I didn’t see until the moment I walked up the aisle to become his wife. He looked so handsome in his suit.

A RMW Gown

I actually found my dress on Rock My Wedding two years before our wedding. During a regular blog browsing session, I came across the gorgeous Justin Alexander 8483 and fell in love. As I wasn’t actively dress shopping so early on I stupidly showed the dress to Dean on screen before realising that I wanted to try it on. Luckily he didn’t remember me showing it to him so the dress was still a surprise on the day.

After searching for Justin Alexander stockists in Kent, I made an appointment at Bell Amore in Bexleyheath. I tried on a handful of dresses in different styles including the Justin Alexander number. As soon as I came out and saw my mum crying, I knew it was definitely the one.

Less Is More

Choosing my jewellery was easy; I opted for simple pearl studs, bracelet and necklace from Dutch Pearl on Etsy. My hair accessories were a different matter. I must have purchased about 6 different pieces and in the end kept three. On the day I decided that I didn’t want to wear any of them….oops!

Exceeding Expectations

My vision for the wedding was to keep the majority of the styling white and to use the flowers for that pop of colour. Laura from The Little Flower Studio did a fantastic job of bringing that to life and the flowers exceeded expectations. In fact, my first teary moment of the day was when Laura showed me the ceremony room on the morning of wedding. It looked so beautiful and was everything I wanted and more.

When it came to choosing what flowers I wanted I was quite specific with my choices. We had garden roses, ranunculus, billy balls, lavender, silver brunia and succulent heads.

Keepsakes

As soon as we met with Julia one evening for coffee we both knew that she would be the one to capture the moments that we would keep for ever. We both loved Julia’s informal style.

Colour Me Pretty

Winters Barns is such a stunning venue that it didn’t need lots of decorating. However, being a wedding planner and stylist myself, I couldn’t not at least decorate it slightly… The day before the wedding we loaded up two cars and headed to the venue along with friends and family to decorate.

We kept the ceremony room simple with white hired chairs, jam jars filled with a single garden rose for the pew ends and rose petals either side of the aisle.

In the wedding breakfast room the tables were decorated with hessian runners, wooden logs and a selection of vases for the centrepieces. To fit with the afternoon tea, we both along with friends and family collected vintage trios from charity shops and boot fairs.

Napkins were tied with jute twine and a single lavender stem placed on each one.

I designed all the stationery from the Save the Dates to the Invitations to the Table Plan and Order of Services and had them printed by a local printer.

For Lovers

Dean and I both love music so our ideal would have been to have a band. Unfortunately our budget didn’t stretch so the next best thing was to have a DJ who allowed us to choose the songs we wanted played.

Our first dance was For Lovers by Pete Doherty and Wolfman. I’m not sure how but this came to be our song during the first few years of our relationship so it didn’t seem right to have anything else.

The Best Day Of Our Lives

Our wedding day was the best day of our lives and as long as Dean and I were married at the end of it, nothing else could have changed that.

One of my favourite memories of the day is when we took 5 minutes in the evening whilst our guests were eating, drinking and dancing and just took it all in. Your wedding day goes by so quickly that I believe it is really important to take those 5 minutes out with your new husband.

Towers Of Cheese

For our wedding breakfast we served afternoon tea so it seemed silly to have a wedding cake also. Instead we had a cheese tower from The Cheese Shed which we served in the evening alongside the hog roast. Unfortunately I didn’t get to try any cheese but it went down well with our guests.

Do It Your Way

Another piece of advice is to be true to yourself and do it your way. There were people throughout the planning that told us afternoon tea wouldn’t be filling (it was) and people who laughed at us when we said we were having a cake made out of cheese (they loved it). Yes you should listen to your friends and families opinions but if you really want something then have it – it’s your day after all.

Aw thanks! The log slices were made my my husbands uncle who is a gardener. Your best bet is to ask around and see if anyone knows someone who can cut some for you.

Hiya! Beautiful wedding. You look amazing in your dress :-) We were going to have an afternoon tea for the wedding breakfast and everyone including the caterers told us it was a no go – as people would not be full afterwards… but to heck with them! 15. Sam B – My mum told me all through the wedding planning process that Afternoon Tea wouldn’t be filling so I took her out for Afternoon Tea one afternoon and proved her wrong :) I say go for it!

Karen – We donated the table numbers to the venue but bought them from ebay and spray painted them. We aren’t selling the LOVE mugs but they are from Anthropologie http://www.anthropologie.eu/en/uk/cups+mugs/monogrammed-mug/invt/7544402420002/&bklist=icat,6,shop,forhome,shopbyhome,tabletopandlinens,cupsmugs

Love the use of scrabble letters, been dying to do that for our wedding but don’t know where to source enough wooden scrabble tiles!

Oh and I adore the little heart cheese – I NEED one of those for our cheese stack! :-)
    xx

  18. Karen says:

@Louise! Thanks :) I’ve had my eye on them after seeing them a few times so glad to have tracked them down! x

  19. Pamela says:

@Sam B – we’re totally doing an afternoon tea as that is what our venue is famous for! They did offer us the option of a three course meal but we decided against it as we thought we had best play to the venue’s strengths….

And, seeing as I have sampled said afternoon tea way too many times (sorry, lovely wedding dress, I probably wont look like Shakira) I can officially confirm they are very filling!

  20. Philippa says:

Thanks Louise. We live in a forest so it shouldn’t be too hard – I was just wondering if there were any just a click away!

  21. Kitty says:

Those bridesmaid dresses are lovely – grey and yellow are winning colours! :-)
