Rock My Wedding LOVES a piece of relaxed country chic, and I don’t mean a little piece, I mean a great big huge chunk of W-day garden florals, in the bouquets, in the table centres…..adorning hairstyles….
And what may I ask would you chose as transport to such a stylish rural affair?
Why a tractor of course!
Sarah married Simon in June 2009 at Ardeley church followed by a reception in Simon’s Dad’s field complete with an abundance of rustic charm and lots and lots of pretty…..

D.I.Y Beauty
I wanted my hair and make-up to be very simple – and I wanted to make sure I definitely looked like myself on the day. My make-up was very “healthy” and simple -I did both the make-up and hair myself.
The hair part could have been very stressful, but I’d had a couple of practice goes and was armed with plenty of hair-grips and hair spray! I was really pleased with the result and loved the rose hair slides which were fab, without having the stress of having to work with real flowers.
Vintage Jewels
My jewellery got a lot of people talking – lots of the guests wanted to know where I had got the necklace from. I found it on the internet, by a designer who sadly doesn’t have her business anymore. The necklace is made from vintage 1950s beads and I adore it. It was exactly what I was looking for, as I tend to wear chunkier jewellery normally and roses were a big feature of the flowers on the day.
Otherwise, I wore just a simple silver bangle, and I made silk roses, attached to hair slides, to go in my hair (which I did myself). I wanted the look to be fairly simple, and one which would go along with our relaxed country wedding. I decided against a tiara/veil as they really aren’t me and in my mind didn’t work with the general feel we were trying to achieve.
Hot Pink And Rosy
The groomsmen hired (or wore their own) morning suits. The Groom and the 2 best men had matching ties and everyone else just wore whatever tie they wanted – it was fairly relaxed. The matching ties were pale blue with little pink roses on, which went with the theme of country/roses.
The bridesmaids wore off the peg dresses from Debenhams which were a bargain. We all went shopping for the day and they were our favorite. I knew I wanted them all to wear bright pink, but was otherwise quite relaxed about how the dresses would look. The slight challenge was that one of my bridemaids was due to be 24 weeks pregnant on our wedding day, so the dress had to accomodate her bump! That was one of the reasons we left buying the dresses until fairly late in the day – so she would know roughly what size she would be. I loved how girly the dresses were in the end and the colour was awesome!
Once In A Lifetime Manhattan
My dress was ‘Manhattan’ by Suzanne Neville. I bought it from a shop in Milton Keynes called ‘Once in a Lifetime‘. I love the simplicity and elegance of her designs and the subtle fishtail design stopped it being ‘too much’. I was lucky enough to get the dress in a sample sale.
My shoes were from John Lewis and were a brilliant find as they were the most comfortable I came across. The were ivory, open-toe, with a bit of sparkle, and had an ankle strap which meant I had half a chance of walking in them. The heels were a couple of inches and very do-able. I would thouroughly recommend the John lewis range as they are much more reasonably priced than a lot of wedding shoes, which can be horrendously expensive.
Despite their apparent comfort it didn’t stop me from changing into a pair of gold flip-flops later on in the evening when the dancing really got going!

Bloomin’ lovely.
And even more gorgeousness on the way tomorrow – so you can all have an eye candy filled weekend too…..
We aim to please.

I love those flower hair pins – both the bride and the bridesmaids, where can I get them?!
Bridesmaids look gorgeous, am a big fan of hot pink, I actually tried on Manhattan but it didn’t suit me at all, looks stunning on Sarah though, especially with the hair and jewellery.
Oh wow- if the beautiful bride is reading this please tell me how you made those gorgeous silk roses! Lovely!

Thank you for your lovely comments!
I made the clips…the basic clip was from ‘Accessorise’, I took off the flower which was originally attached (as I specifically wanted roses) and I superglued on a silk rose bought from a shop selling artificial flowers (the silk roses came in sprigs of pink and cream, which was perfect for what I wanted). So the roses weren’t designed to be worn as hair accesories, but worked well in the end!
