Glam Industrial Meets Botanical

We love discovering new wedding venues and today’s industrial New York loft style space with exposed bricks, open spaces and incredible views of London is a pretty cool place for a wedding. When looking for venues we love beautiful architecture, refurbishment that reflects the surroundings and gorgeous soft furnishing selection – and Sky Loft hits the nail on the head with all three.

This botanical filled shoot not only showcases the venue beautifully, but also brings together some of the UKs leading wedding suppliers too. Photographer Anushé Low has had countless features on RMW over the years, wedding stylist and planner Always Andri works on the most beautiful events in London and the South East, florist Joanne Truby – well I think those blooms speak for themselves!!

Throw in geometric print stationery from the lovely Abigail Warner, cakes from Olofson Design, and sweet treats from RMLtd favourite, Anges De Sucre – and you’ve got yourself a party. Or even a wedding 😉

From The Planner: The Skyloft in London is an urban industrial space with stunning views across the city that provides a great alternative setting to traditional wedding venues for an informal, laid back vibe. The design took inspiration from the venue’s eclectic mix of textures: brick walls, steel girders, concrete artwork, rusty metal detailing and reclaimed gym flooring. With a colour palette of greys and greens with touches of burgundy and coral, we softened the hard edges with rambling foliage and flowers and hints of metallics: glam industrial meets botanical.

The Ceremony Set Up

For the ceremony, our florist Joanne Truby constructed an arch from copper piping adorned with asymmetric floral arrangements of eucalyptus, ruscus, spray fern, coral ranunculus, red roses and burgundy hellebores. A chic drinks area using the venue’s mid century modern sofas provided the perfect location to hang our grey framed gold print table plan by Abigail Warner. To accompany the couples’ Champagne toast we had sweet treats by Anges de Sucre: macarons, marshmallow, teacakes and muffles (chocolate covered marshmallows with a secret soft centre) sitting on zinc fluted trays by Coral & Bone.

The Wedding Breakfast

For our wedding breakfast table we added textural linens from Table To Dine For to go with the shades of grey rough luxe tableware from Coral & Bone; perfectly accompanied by Abigail Warner’s geometric inspired gold print menus and place cards. Flowers were assorted asymmetric arrangements in metallics vases running the length of the long table.

The Cake

The magnificent 5-tiered wedding cake was by Ceri Olofson, who took a rough luxe approach to the design focusing on different textures with an industrial twist: marble and concrete look layers and 24 carat gold leaf to add a luxurious edge. Rambling rice paper flowers added a softer botanical twist.

The Bride

We went with two looks for our bride with dresses from Luella’s’ Boudoir: the first was a softer natural look with the elegant ‘Alma’ dress by Limor Rosen. Our makeup artist Tori wanted to keep the hair & makeup in keeping with the modern feel of the shoot. Our beautiful model reminded us all of J-Lo so for the first look Tori went for big bouncy curls and a soft brown smoky eye. It was sultry and sexy while still being relaxed and bridal.

For the second look we went a bit more glam, with the intricately beaded ‘Rose’ dress by Vicky Rowe and Tori wanted to go for something a bit different with the hairstyle so she opted for a loose, messy ponytail, which is a great alternative from the traditional bridal up do. For makeup Tori wanted to bring out the colours in the dress so worked some silvers and greys into the brown smoky eye and added a slightly brighter lip colour.
