Inspiration

I've been really excited to blog this wedding, as the Bridesmaids are wearing Rewritten, one of our brands to watch from last year. Rewritten design Bridesmaids dresses that are stylish, beautifully made and so wearable, that your girls will turn to them again and again. These gorgeous cold shoulder dresses fit all of Hannah's maids perfectly. Deep red is a classic colour, but the slinky crepe fabric and cut of the dresses adds a modern twist. Hannah herself looks beautiful in French designer Laure De Sagazan. ALL of the girls hair was done by Victoria Ralph, one of our recommended List suppliers. She's an absolute pro, all of the ladies look gorgeous and that's a lot of hair for one person to style! Enjoy this wedding lovely ones, Sussex Barn is a magical venue and it has been captured beautifully by Benjamin Wheeler. There's a mirror reflection shot of some festoon lights that I'm dying over...keep an eye out for it!

Our Wedding

Hannah the Bride: Guy and I got married on the 19th November 2016 in our favourite place, Norfolk. We both have a connection to Norfolk so it made picking our location for the wedding very easy.

The Bride

I got my dress from The Mews in Notting Hill. They specialise in Boho Styled dresses. I fell in love with two outfits so ended up getting one for the day and one for the evening, they were both from the designer Laure De Sagazan who I was completely obsessed with. I went for a low back lace dress and a skirt and top combo, I even wore the top with jeans the next day at our post wedding lunch. I had such a brilliant hair stylist who did my hair called Victoria Ralph. She’s based in London so I went for a few hair trials down with her. I’ve naturally got wavey hair so didn’t want a traditional hair do as it’s so not me. She did a really natural half up half down style which I totally loved. She also did all my bridesmaid hair which looked gorgeous. My make up was done by someone local to us, Kirstie, who was such a lovely lady and gave me and my bridesmaids such a natural look which we all loved. I wore my family earrings which had been inherited from my great grandmother who got them as her wedding present from her mother.

The Groom

We both love the traditional look so Guy went for a morning suit jacket from Hackett. We then had grey waistcoats for him and the Ushers. As our bridesmaids were quite a vibrant colour we just wanted something soft to compliment them.

The Venue

We got married in a church in Holme-Next-The-Sea which has a huge amount of meaning to me as my darling mother and grandparents are buried there. The reception was held at Sussex Barn, which is a stunning barn conversion. We also filled the ceiling with fairy lights which made it so magical and was perfect for the vibe we were after. We also had such an amazing wedding coordinator Emma who manages the barn and helped us through the whole planning process.

The Decor

Being a November wedding we were very conscious about the wedding becoming a Christmas theme which we didn’t really want so we kept to really fresh pastel colours and lots of greenery. We had the most amazing florist call Bramble and Berry who were based locally in Norwich, Norfolk. We had quite a specific brief and she totally got it. We had beautiful antique roses, hydrangeas surrounded by lots of eucalyptus.

The Bridesmaids

It was so hard to find our bridesmaid dresses. I looked for ages and just couldn’t find anything I liked. Luckily a very good friend of mine had had the same issue when she was getting married and decided to set up a bridesmaid dress company with a friend of hers. I saw the first sketches and fell in love straight away. We got to see the dresses being made from start to finish and they came out perfectly. The company is called Rewritten and I couldn’t recommend the dresses enough. They were such an affordable price point at around £150 and the girls can definitely wear them again.

The Food

We were totally spoilt with our caterers, The North Norfolk Catering Company. Not only were the two owners such great guys but they were also such talented Chef’s. Jack and Adam's aim is to bring fine dining to the masses and they did the most incredible job. We had Norfolk crab to started followed by Norfolk lamb three ways with a chocolate nemesis to finish. Our cake was made by the incredible Dani who owns and runs The Icing On The Cake, they are actually based in Reigate and specialise in High Tea events but kindly agreed to help us. Dani made a carrot cake and coffee cake for our wedding cake which was so delicious. It got polished off very quickly. Dani also did all of the calligraphy for the wedding and supplied the soft drinks stand. Dani also helped us set up on the day which was amazing.

The Photography

Our photographer was Benjamin Wheeler. I’d followed his Instagram for years and knew that when I got married that I wanted Ben to shoot our wedding. We love his beautiful natural style and the light he captures in all of his shots. He certainly didn’t disappoint and he did the most amazing job at capturing our wedding for us. Not only is he a great photographer but he also is such a nice guy and totally takes the awkwardness of having your photo away.

Our Wedding Film

We didn’t actually have a videographer and instead we got all of the guests at the wedding to download an app called Road Movies which let you take 30 second videos and edit them together for you. It meant we got loads of videos from so many different angles which was so fun. We are planning to edit them all together.

Final Thoughts

The whole day was special from start to finish and we were so happy with how all the different elements came together. in-post-rmw-reader-survey
