So it’s nearly your wedding day.
You’ve more than likely sorted your frock, your barnet and your sexy shoe candy.
But what about your nails?
French manicure by any chance?
Don’t get me wrong folks I happen to think a classic french looks polished and chic….
But….what about if you just fancy something a little bit different?
Hmmmm?
The one thing I got the most emails about after writing my original “You Rock My World” blog was surprisingly my bright coral pink nail polish ( which in true Charlotte style I only decided on the day before W-day as my lovely manicurist Julie was applying….( Yup you guessed it)….. the pink base white tip effect)
So what alternatives are on offer exactly?
Well I would highly recommend Bio-Sculpture gel which is a totally non-chip polish alternative that has no nasty chemicals and is available in a myriad of knock-your-socks-off colours ( I had shade 75 Tutti Frutti)

Bio-sculpture also offer the “eternal pedicure” which is perfect if you are planning on donning a pair of toe bearing strappy sky-scraper heels.
Quite new to the scene but fast becoming incredibly popular is “Minx Nails” a revolutionary adhesive film which is applied to the nail using a heat activator. Minx promise to “bring fashion to your fingertips” and offer a whole range of patterns and dark vampy shades that can last up to two weeks ( would LOVE to see a winter bride rock a deep purple)

Already hugely popular with a whole host of A-listers including Rhianna and Beyonce – maybe it’s time we all got minxed
And if a paler hue tickles your fancy then how about a gold metallic or a hot pink with silver bling effect?

From left Beyonce wearing Minx nails in Gold Lightening and a bold but supremely feminine magenta – perfect for wrapping around your bouquet ( or your man for that matter )
So what we want to know is – what will grace your bridal fingertips come the Big Day?
Yours Hot Coral and Fancy

I’m going to ask a really stupid question, but can you get bio-sculpture gel when you’ve got incredibly biten short real nails? do they do a nail extension as well?
Thanks
Liv x
Hi Liv
Bio-sculpture gel applies like a thick polish so can go over any type of nail bed. It also makes them feel stronger and will encourage you not to bite them!
I have ridiculously small skinny eczema ridden fingers ( my husband affectionately calls them my “Granny” hands) so on me short nails actually look better ( longer and I think I look like a witch!)
I especially like the bright bold or darker shades on shorter than short nails – I have mine filed right down to the skin
To answer your question yes you can have tips applied, they seal them with glue and then the gel goes over your natural nail and the tip to blend them together.
Do let us know what you decide on Pet!

I had a foxy Jezebel-esque vampish red on my tootsies (mostly because I’d been surrounded by whites and creams and “bridal” colours and was gasping for something racy and I was convinced no-one would see them, little did I know I’d be posing for photos in a fountain, feet out for all to see!). On my fingernails I had a slightly-more-virginal-but-still-a-bit-saucy pinky coral. Loving the block colour. My sister rocked a midnight blue polish to match her dress – it looked sexy as hell!
“My name is Victoria and I’m a nail varnish addict.”
I had a racy red on my toes called “Daring” and a shimmery gold on my fingers called “Silk Nightie”… I think I picked them for the names more than anything! I wanted my toes to look like that picture of Marilyn leaning forward on the chair in a big pouffy white dress. Glam, glam, glam!
Though my mum did have a hissy fit that my red toenails clashed with my cerise shoes. We had to educate her on “clashing brights”.
I’m really torn. I’m going for a vintage Hollywood/Art Deco look. I’m having the old wave hair style and red lippy. So, I’m not sure whether to go for red nails (Dior Coquelicot Poppy) or the traditional Frenchie. Ah decisions, decisions!
I must admit I really admired your nails on your original YAYW blog Charlotte – the colour was gorgeous. If you have the bio-sculpture gel applied, do you have to have it taken off professionally? H xx
HI ladies!
More nail lovers I see – yay!
Steph – sounds A.mazing. GO WITH THE DIOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
H – thanks Pet, I have gel every 3 weeks and every 6 weeks of those I have them soaked off and re-applied ( to many layers on top of layers and it begins to look a bit scruffy)
You can buy the acetone solution from Boots to do it yourself but I prefer going to the salon – a much more pampering experience!

I had the bio gel nails applied when I was bridesmaid to my best friend back in August and my nails did look stunning after about two weeks they did start to grow out and I was told I could have the regrowth filled in. I decided to give my nails a bit of a break as I always worry about damage. I took them off at home using a kit although I dont think I did it properly and found that my nails were really weak afterwards so I would definitley recommend having them removed at a salon. I will be having the bio gel for my wedding just what colour to decide…… xxx
Ooh, thanks for your reply Charlotte, I always just ignore my biten to the skin nails but this info has actually got me really excited. Might pop into town later and book a trial.
Thanks again

Yes Steph definitely go for the red, it’ll look great! Coloured nails look so much more fun.
Charlotte, do you mind saying how much the bio sculpture costs?
x
Hi axm237
I pay £33 for a soak off and new set and then £28 for infills, the place I go to is quite reasonable, I did go somewhere cheaper to try it and they just didn’t last as long ( That was Calgel though not Biosculpture)
For Xmas I am having a really deep metallic midnight blue – looks gorgeous!

I love this article! I am getting married this august and as a qualified bio sculpture technician, i’ve been struggling on what colour nails to have, everyone has french but i LOVE coloured nails the best!!!!
My wedding theme is black and ivory so i’ve pretty much decided I am going to go for a dramatic very dark red – pinotage is my fave !!
I reckon you can have any colour as long as its properly applied and gleaming, so there!
