Well we have a treat for you today. All lovers of the sweetie table bow down. Vintage decor lovers stare in awe and classic brides everywhere be inspired. Without further ado, back to Naomi and once again, thanks to Rebecca Honeywell the talented photographer behind todays wedding.

The Decor

We went for a English country garden theme, my parents allowed us to have the perfect English country garden wedding by hosting the wedding in their beautiful garden.
We had a traditional pole marquee, which was decorated with antique cream bird cages on each table and mis-matched teapots on every table filled with flowers.

Our guests had been transported to the church by vintage bus, which was black and cream. My bridesmaids and flower girls were taken in a black and cream Rolls Royce to match the vintage bus.

Becoming Mr and Mrs

My bridesmaids entered the church first, with my flower girls stopping and waving to people they recognised. My dad and I walked into the church to Canon in D -Pachelbel that was played by the string quartet. It was extremely moving, they also played “it must be love” by the Beatles when we signed the register. The pews were decorated with wooden hearts that all had something written on that represented our relationship.

I saw Robin at the end of the aisle looking more handsome than ever, in a navy morning suit, a pale lemon Hackett waistcoat and a navy cream polka dot cravat also from Hackett. With his hair in a side parting, he looked like a true English gent!

We were then picked up by our beautiful horse and carriage and taken for pictures near the river, while our guest enjoyed the string quartet on the lawn while sipping on pimms and lemonade and canapés from our caterers.

The Reception

With perfect blue skies and the sun shining down on us we commenced our line up greeting all our wonderful guests who had travelled far and wide, including one of my bridesmaids that travelled all the way from Sydney and one of Robins ushers who came from Bermuda! It was a global get together, we were truly touched that they made such an effort to be part of our special day.

We had Jack Johnson’s album playing throughout the meal which represented our lives in Australia, and had a very traditional Yorkshire dinner. We choose somebody from each table to carve the meat for the guests on the table, which was a good ice breaker as the carver had to don a big chefs hat and apron and commence carving a big joint of beef!

Sweet as lemondrops

We set up a vintage sweet shop in the middle of the marquee, that Rob and I had sourced from small sweet shops around Yorkshire, filling jars of our favourite sweets for our guest to indulge in.

My lovely chief bridesmaid Helen and one of our ushers Nick who we had both lived with at University did a fabulous job going round all of our guests with a Polaroid camera taking pictures for us to put in our guest book, later that night, guests had to find their picture that we had put in hearts hanging from a vintage coat stand and they would leave us a message with their picture.

We danced the night away to Manchini and the Hitmen, who came from Leeds and we found through Orchestra Live. They were great, they broke the guests into some light acoustic music and then had us all rocking away by the end. We also had a dj who played our first dance which was “Penny Lover” by Lionel Richie. Its all about when a guys meets a girl and he doesn’t want to let her go.

It was the most perfect day, and one we will never forget.

Thank you so much to Naomi for sharing her day with us. It really shows just how beautiful simplicity can be and also how to put a spin on tradition with chic Bridesmaids dresses and a stunning bespoke gown.

All of us at RMW wish you every happiness for the rest of your lives together.

Yours Truly,

Contra

Naomi, what a totally stunning wedding, absolutely gorgeous. I too am doing the joint of meat at each table with a guest nominated as the carver with chefs whites so it’s good to hear from a bride who has done this and to hear it worked well as an ice breaker. Thank you for sharing this with us xxx
