Livi has to be one of the most smiliest Brides we’ve ever featured. Each image captured by Kerry Morgan illuminates off the page with the love and excitement our couple shared on their wedding day and I guarantee you will be smiling too.
It was a dream come true for bride Livi to be able to have her wedding at her parents house, but I bet what she wasn’t expecting was all the helping hands, DIY and personal touches all their family & friends put into making their marquee reception into the beautiful blue haven she’d envisioned. There were Ushers cutting down trees, friends lending props and Mums dabbling in a spot of sewing and floristry. Yep that stunning white peony bridal bouquet was arranged by Livi’s Mum!
SO many touching moments and wonderful sentiment throughout this gorgeous at home wedding, you’re going to love it!
Livi The Bride: I knew straight away when I put the dress on I really wanted it …after trying on almost every dress in London! It was between that and one I had seen locally in Newmarket but in the end in my heart of hearts I knew which one it was!
The emerald ring I wore on my right finger was my Granny’s on my Father’s side, the gold bracelet was also passed down through the family and the pearl and diamond bracelet I wore on my left wrist was given to me by my Mother-in-law when Will and I got engaged, it has been passed down in my Husband’s family so I really wanted to wear something also from his family.
My earrings and wedding band were made by an old friend of mine who is now a jewellery designer, her things are absolutely beautiful. I knew Will was getting my wedding band made from her but I had no idea about the tear drop diamond earrings, they were a surprise he gave me the day before the wedding
I had my shoes already, I’ve worn them a million times before which is not very special but I wanted to wear heels as I’m really short but I wanted to be sure I was really comfortable all day!
I borrowed my Sister-in-law’s veil which was beautiful and lace trimmed, by chance it amazingly matched the lace of my dress perfectly, I was so pleased! We put some cow parsley from the garden in my hair.
I work in menswear and spend my day advising clients on what fabric to use for morning suits, for this reason I knew Will had to have a very special morning suit and look very dapper- we had to get it right! We’re an agent for Sartoria Clad in Italy so we had Will fitted and they made up the most perfect fitting morning suit.
Will had 10 ushers!!! In fact they were all needed, they were all excellent and I think were quite non-stop with jobs even until the very end when they handed out to all our guests a sparkler to line the driveway with and wave us off! They looked very smart in their matching yellow waistcoats which a very good friend of mine from university has has a business called Sir Plus and all their buttercup yellow waistcoats were from there.
It’s always been my dream since being a little girl to get married at my parents house so we put a marquee up in the field next to the garden, we cut a hole into he hedge for the guests to walk through from the garden to the marquee and Angela very cleverly somehow made the gap in the hedge into a beautiful arch and made a real feature out of it with hanging lanterns, candles etc
We got married in the local village Church in Snailwell, it’s only a 5 min walk to my parent’s house from the church and the sun was shining so the guests just strolled up to the house after the service!
I have known the vicar who took our ceremony for about 10 years which was really nice, it helped me feel more relaxed on the day and he had a lovely informal way about him which also helped put will and I at ease.
It was lovely and sunny during the reception so our guests were outside the front of the marquee and we had music playing out of the marquee which has all its sides up! – old gentle classics were playing out from the strange in the marquee
Luckily my Mum has several friends who do flowers professionally so we were very fortunate for them to get together and help us out, Angela Hudson-Evans lives locally in Suffolk and was a great help, from the word go she totally understood my vision for modern, clean, fresh arrangements made up of only white flowers.
My Mum also made my bouquet for me, she had never made one before, it was so special that she had made it and it was absolutely perfect just as I wanted, white peonies with a pale cornflower blue ribbon wrapped around to match the colour scheme in the marquee.
I had the vision of pale cornflower blue and white. Rectangular and square vases, I knew I wanted a lot of twinkly lights in the marquee and for the look to be very clean and fresh and contemporary. We thought that long tables are a bit more sociable than round tables. We sort of did the entire decor ourselves, Will and his Ushers cut down silver birch trees the day before the wedding and attached them to the poles in the marquee, we got all the blue fabric for the tables from Shepherds Bush market and my Mum made the runners in the weeks leading up to the wedding! The light up letters above the dance floor we hired from Doris Loves. We also were very lucky to have several friends who own events and wedding planning companies so they leant us a lot of the vases, lanterns, pretty hanging things, pole and rope up the drive way etc
My Mum also sells and hires globes out for events which can either go on plinths (as we had at the front of our marquee) or on the ground (which we had along the front of our marquee) they look like stone by day and light up by night, they added a great effect to our marquee and also functional as provide atmospheric light by night.
We had a lot of delicious canapés including prawn tempura with a sweet chilli dip as everyone loves it, a soup sit of mushroom and Madeira, beef tournedos with béarnaise sauce, a seared scallop with a pea puree etc. Main course we had a ballotine of chicken stuffed with pine nuts and asparagus, for pudding we knew our friends would move out of their places and chat to others so rather than a plated pudding going o waste if someone was not longer in their place we had a selection of mini desserts a couple included, mini crème brulee, mini banofee pies and a shot glass with vodka jelly!!! Later into he evening we had a cheese table for those who needed a little pick me up/ break from all that dancing. We also made the night before skewers with marshmallows on which the caterers handed round outside for people to toast over the fire pits! Homemade fudge and the mini puddings were also handed round later for those with the munchies!
A friend of my Mothers who lives locally in Newmarket made the cake for us with homemade raspberry jam and butter icing. I’d seen a picture of a cake like that on Pinterest and set on heart on having our wedding cake decorated with fruits and flowers, I was so pleased with how it looked it was identical to the picture!!
We didn’t have a wedding planner but my Mum’s very good friend, Louise, runs a bespoke wedding and events company so she gave us a few pointers. Additionally a friend of mine, Ed, runs an events company so he too gave us a helping hand.
We had our invites made at Gee Brothers, our church service sheets were printed locally in Newmarket, and Will drew by a picture of the village church to go on the front of the service sheets
The band we got through an agency. They were called Get Carter and they were really excellent, they played after dinner and got everyone on the dancefloor!
We got a friend who went to the same school as both Will and I to video it for us, wedding videos are not usually his main thing, he usually does commercials and adverts but he did an excellent job.
We were recommended Kerry Morgan by a few other professional photographers, we were really very pleased with her, and she captured the day perfectly and was a pleasure to have around on the day
Remember it all!!! Try to treasure every moment, I was busy chatting to guests I didn’t see the cheese, I didn’t eat any of the puddings and I didn’t stand back at any point from the marquee and look at the setting and take in quite how beautiful it all looked, I WISH I had done that, I can see from the photos how wonderful it looked but I wish I had taken 5 with Will at some point in the evening to stand back and admire it all and watch all our closest friends and family having an absolute ball.
Lastly a HUGE thank you to my parents who helped do it all, and who let me have my absolute dream day!
