Look Lively…WIN THIS LOOK!

Blake Lively – she’s HOT isn’t she?

I’m not sure I’ve seen a blonde work a red lip as well as she can. I guess the flawless sun kissed skin and super white teeth help a wee bit….

Well if you’ve ever fancied working this red-carpet Hollywood siren look then not only does Mariam Jensen show you how, you can also WIN ALL OF THE PRODUCTS USED IN THE FEATURE so you can literally re-create this A-lister lovely in the comfort of your own home…FOR FREE.

I know. We are so generous sometimes it kills me – literally. Those cosmetics are sat on my desk practically begging me to open them and have a go myself…

Ahem. Anyways – I do have some self restraint, so I’ll hand you over to make-up artist Mariam Jensen.

Oh, but before I do….all you need to do to be in with a chance of winning is to leave a comment naming your favourite celebrity and why you want to steal their sexy beauty secrets.

Ok? we will then put together more of these features and even more delicious bags of cosmetic goodies for you to win.

Mariam Jensen: I love this makeup look Blake wore to a premier over the summer, the skin was gorgeous and radiant, yet the eyes and lips channelled the screen-sirens of the old Hollywood films. I think this look is beautiful and coupled with the long-waves and strapless dress – Blake looks perfect!

To recreate the look I chose products from Bourjois, a brand that I love everyone needs to try! I love how the products are beautifully pigmented and long-lasting, yet are reasonably priced, so you won’t have to lie to your fiancé about how much you’ve spent!

To Get The Blake Lively Red Carpet Look

Mariam Jensen: Start with prepped skin; make sure skin is well hydrated and supple, as perfect makeup needs skin that is well cared for. I am a big fan of Avene’s skincare range and love this lightweight, anti-ageing emulsion which sits beautifully under makeup. After you’ve prepped your skin, follow with applying Bourjois Flower Perfection Primer with your finger tips – this beautiful primer will create the perfect base for your foundation and ensure it stays on throughout the day!

Blake’s glowing skin is one of my favourite parts of this makeup look, to recreate this look apply a light-weight foundation such as Bourjois’ Healthy Mix Serum which is a gel-textured foundation that is light, yet provides a gorgeous even finish to the skin. I often wear this foundation myself and love it because your skin glows and looks so natural. I really like to apply with a foundation brush, try The look is all about a dewy finish, so keep powder to a minimum, perhaps just a touch of Healthy Balance Powder in the T-Zone and on the chin to take down the shine, this will also be good to keep in your bag for touch ups.

Blake has a beautiful sun-kissed complexion and you can recreate the look of holiday skin with Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder which is a perfect golden brown tone, which a light sheen. To apply try a fan brush to give a light application, focusing on the highpoints of the face such as the top of forehead, cheeks and jawline) . I really like this brush from Japonesque. I would finish off the complexion with a gorgeous neutral-pink blush on the apples of the cheek such as Bourjois #16 Blushin in Love-Struck Rose (isn’t the name sweet?!), using a nice full blush brush such as the PRO Blush Brush from Japonesque.

For the eyes I would keep the brows natural and fill in any gaps with a soft brow pencil. Then I would sweep the Little Round Pot Eyeshadow in #16 all over the lids to add a beautiful neutral sheen to the eye, using a large brush, such as Japonesque’s Pro Eye Shadow Fluff – medium.

Next I would use the Khol & Contour Pencil and use the “Light” side to on the waterline of the eye to brighten and neutralize any pinky tones in the inside on the eye line. Then using the other side of the pencil take the “Shadow” side into the top lash line and on the bottom of the lash line to create more definition of the eyes. Be sure to get the liner smudged in between the top lashes so there are no gaps. Take a soft brown shade of eye shadow over the bottom lash liner to soften the look if you feel the liner is too dark. Then take Liner Feutra, a gorgeous long-lasting felt tip eyeliner on the top lash line, keeping it close to the base of the lashes. Have fun with the shape of the liquid liner, maybe creating a little flick at the ends to add some drama to the look. Lastly, curl the lashes and finish the eyes with a few coats of Mascara Volumizer which has the most amazing brush that coats each and every lash, adding volume and length.

Lastly, define and fill in lips with #20 Rouge Soyeux Lip Pencil, this will help the lip colour last longer. Finally, take Colorissimo Lip Palette in #1 Rouges Collection using the top red shade to colour in lips. This palette comes with three red shades that can be worn on their own or mixed to create your own custom shade.

Have you ever tried to re-create a similar look? I did once – ended up resembling a drag queen. Maybe it’s about time I attempted the red lip look again though….I do have a big “girls night out” tomorrow.

Oh and I promise not to rob the Bourjois.

PROMISE.

Big Lively Love

    As for the celeb.

I have to say, it’s got to the the lovely lady in your picture – Blake Lively.

She is an absolute knockout – so effortlessly glamourous with a gorgeous husband to boot!

Blake is definitely my girl crush ;-)

    xoxo

  6. LadyFushia says:

I often end up looking like a vampire or something when I try the red lip thing but keep persisting – one day I’ll get it right!

I would love to steal Mila Kunis’ make-up bag – she always looks so gorgeous whether she goes for the natural look, or something a littler smokier and sultry. I’d also like her glossy locks.

Also love our lovely Duchess of Cambridge. She always looks beautiful, and I love that she didn’t ditch her usual eyeliner for her wedding – I love a touch of a smokey eye for the bride :)

    xx

  7. Eleanor says:

I always feel a little bit “special” in red lipstick, not in a good way. One day i will master it.

For curves and glamour its got to be Christina Hendricks, LOVE her!! She’s just luscious.

  8. Mrs H says:

I’m a bit a fan of Lauren Conrads look. She has amazing skin and such a wonderful natural look but with a flick of black eyeliner and some red lips she can vamp it up.

  9. McDuff says:

@stephanie completely agree ref Natalie. In fact she’s my wedding day make inspiration…. :o )

  10. Siân says:

I love the post, Charlotte, and thank you Mariam for the tips and competition prize. RMW brightening up my day as usual.
The first time I tried to do a red lip look, it was so bold compared to my usual look, I thought I looked like a clown! Most of my clobber is spots or stripes/monochrome classics with hints (and I mean hints!) of colour via accessories. So much red seemed so scary. Being a classic glam fan, I tend to focus on big sultry peepers. It just takes awhile to get used to a new look, especially if a little on the bold side. Keep trying though ladies. I’m even considering a red lippy for my wedding day. However, I need to convince the boy red lipstick kisses on the groom is a good look!
I have such a girl crush on Anne Hathaway. She makes every look she tries so effortless and classic it looks natural, dare I say like she might wake up looking that way! I would love to steal her look. For me, she’s a master class in how to look like you’re not wearing make-up, as it just enhances what it is there all along and thats what makes you pretty. Who wouldn’t want to look like that?!

  11. Emily says:

I would have to go with Emma Stone. Her make up is always flawless and, as a girl with a million and one freckles myself, she is a constant source of inspiration. (:

  12. Pauline says:

It has to be Scarlett Johansson for me, she can do glamour, she can do au naturel and she always looks gorgeous!

  13. Lulu says:

Ah! I used to use that bronzer, and can’t think why I stopped, it’s fab! Great post too, what a pretty lady…

I have to say, I always think Kate Winslet gets it pretty right in the make up stakes – just a good slick lippy, or some smokey eyes. Always manages to just bring out the right thing for the right outfit.

    Have a great weekend all!

  14. Pamela says:

Aside from the fact that the new Mrs Renolds has the face and body of a goddess, she is also the queen of accessories in my eyes and her statement cuffs make my heart bleed. She’s also married a hottie. I salute you.

  15. Pamela says:

Oh and girl crush right now…all Strictly inspired I’m afraid…the Winkleman for services to tanning and a nude lip (as well as a lovely black shift dress and statement heels)…

Kimberley Walsh – for the best smile in the business and killer abs. She also has the dreaded Coleen legs so we love her even more…

And Flavia…for the shiniest barnet I have ever seen.

  16. Kitty Westhorp says:

Oh it has to be Natalie Portman – she is so beautiful, especially in that perfume advert.

Her make-up looks so fresh and dewy and I have a bit of a girl crush on her because she’s naturally beautiful.

  17. Alex Stickland says:

I’d love to steal the beauty secrets of Scarlett Johansson, she always looks stunning but never over-done.

  18. Natalie Lipscombe says:

Ooooh très bien! I love a bit of Bourjois me.

I have a small obsession with Rihanna at the moment. Not only is she a beaut, she is effortlessly stylish and sexy. A flash of red lippy and some mascara and that girl is shmokin’! If only we could all ooze that level of sex appeal *sigh*

  19. Helen says:

I love red lipstick and am trying to pluck up the courage to wear it on the big day!!!

My fave celeb beauty and ultimate girl crush is Rachel Weisz. Her makeup looks so natural and elegant. I share this crush with my future husband we obviously have the same taste in women :-)

  20. Amy Johnstone says:

I love Karen Gillan showing us pale girls how to rock our complexion with dark eyes and daring red lippy!

  21. Eve says:

I have to say Megan fox always looks flawless, but may have to move Blake up the list – I have a strong desire to dye my hair blonde and book the veneers now!!!

  22. @McDuff @Kitty @Stephanie – Mr O’Shea’s favourite of all time is Madame Portman – and mine too. We clearly have the same taste in women (!!)

@Pamela – I have not watched one episode of Strictly…does that make me a bad person? it makes me a bit sad you see – I used to do that kind of dancing for over a decade and I miss the sequins like air.

    Dramatic but true.

I need to check out this Flavia’s barnet.

  23. Carys says:

@ Kitty I am actually taking a picture of that perfume advert with Natalie Portman to my make up artist and simply saying ‘Do this on me!’ It’s just perfect. And the fact that my other half regards her as one of his ‘wives’ means he will almost certainly approve of the look!

  24. @LynseyB – And yes to Del Rey. I still want to know how to do that eyeliner, unless I do “thin” liquid I get one thicker than the other and look wonky.

Not wonky in a good way either.

  25. Nicolla says:

Its got to be the gorgeous Elizabeth Taylor for me, she did porcelain skin and a smoky eye so well but looked totally amazing tanned, She’s my beauty inspiration (def not my marriage inspiration I’ll give it that though-Just the one for me hopefully-still she did all her weddings so well) x

  26. jen says:

Penelope Cruz, she is so beautiful. So beautiful and she looks like she just wakes up like that – a natural stunner! She is definitely my wedding day inspiration. I dream that on W day I will wake up looking like her xx

  27. Ali says:

I’m quite into Rachel McAdams just now. She can really rock a 50s look. I am not sure how brave I will be on the W day to go all out rockabilly so something like some of her looks in the Notebook might help me find my way. (Might snag myself a Gosling in the process – bonus) And if I can master red lips without looking like a clown they will definitely feature! I certainly needed this guidance so thanks!

  28. Melissa says:

As this is a wedding blog I’m going with a favourite celebrity wedding style…mainly for the hair. Of course it has to be Jennifer Aniston when she married Brad, for me. We all know how that ended but, as soon as I saw that photo of them on their wedding day I knew all those years ago that was the dream hair I’d have at my wedding. I’m under no illusions that my hair actually will look like that, but aren’t all our weddings based on our hopes & dreams :-)

(Oh and Blake Lively is just gorgeous. Few blondes can carry a red lippy like that girl can! I certainly can’t). x

  29. Jolene says:

For me it would have to be Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis – they are so beautiful and their hair/makeup always looks amazing! I was enamoured when they were in Black Swan together.

  30. Jane says:

Jolene, I’m with you on the Portman – Kunis melange! I love the smokey eye look and I’m never without my smudgy kohl. Despite a lot of effort (& many pounds spent), I’ve yet to find a single lipstick that suits me! I always end up looking like I’m a middle aged lady. Not what I’m after on my wedding day. The crowd feet are already getting hard to disguise… X

  31. Jane says:

Err blooming autocorrect! *crows feet! X

  32. Heather says:

If I could have anyone’s look, it would be Kristen Stewart’s. I’ve pretty much got my own day make up look perfected, but I would love to learn how to do Kristen’s dramatic evening looks. I’m not a vampire fan, but I think she’s beautiful and I definitely have a girl crush on her.

  33. Jill says:

I love mila kunis-I used a photo of her to explain to the make up artist at my wedding what I wanted!! However think I confused her by repeatedly saying I realised I didn’t look like her!! Needless to say I looked nothing like ms kunis but very happy anyway!!

  34. Davina says:

Zooey Deschanel is my ultimate pin up! Unfortunately I can’t change my eye colour – however I would kill for her perfect make up/hair/clothes! Swoon!

  35. Kelly says:

My girl crush definitely has to be Kate Hudson. I would love to steal her style. She always manages to look so effortlessly gorgeous, glammed up or dressed down…and whilst pregnant! Which gives me hope!

  36. Helen Greenwood says:

Kristin Stewart. Her make-up is always cool and effortless <3

  37. Mazzimaz says:

I LOVE Jennifer Aniston’s laid back but super sexy look, like she’s been on the beach all day but thrown on some slinky sandals and a slim fitting dress and WOW! I think her makeup looks effortless and love that she knows what suits her and sticks to it. She is the epitome of laid back glamour. A close second is Natalie Portman in that perfume ad with the feline-like eye makeup!

  38. jen westwood says:

I’d definitely say Blake Lively too, recently been re-watching my Gossip Girl boxset and have a major crush – she always looks stunning, both in and out of the series. I’m using her as my hair inspiration for the big day- messy relaxed side fish-tail plait. Laid back but glamourous.

  39. Anja says:

Always and always Natalie Portman! She is just timeless and simply gorgeous! The hair, the Skin, everything about her!
