Maxx it Out…

I love a Maxi dress and fortunately the trend continues this summer. With so many stunning maxi dresses hitting the shops right now, I got pretty excited realizing that they cover just about every wedding related base. The Guest, the Bridesmaid, the Honeymooner and the Marrieds…

So here’s the low down on my top picks in High Street Heaven.

Wedding Fever…

*Butterfly print dress – Ted Baker. Tropical print dress Monsoon and Navy and white Stripe dress – Coast,

If you are a guest at a wedding and it’s not a terribly formal affair why not rock the trend and wear a Maxi? There’s no need to feel informal with heels and some uber glam accessories and in fact I’m thinking of wearing one of these beauties to an upcoming wedding myself!

Boho Bridesmaids

One striking way to echo an empire or more boho feel bridal gown is to dress your girls in a similar style, try these ice cream shades for pretty perfection…. As usual I’m in love with the Yellow and would love to see someone Rocking the yellow trend this year.

Yellow dress – Ted Baker, Aqua dress – Monsoon, Pink dress – Coast.

Every type of Honeymoon

Whether you’re planning a tropical beach get-away, an all out glamour-a-go-go affair or something super relaxed after the stress of planning then something here should fit the bill. The Digitalized print here would work well both dressed up or down and is perfect for those with a larger bust, whilst I’m lusting after the asymmetric number – glamorama! Florals being a big trend, this one from Oasis is perfect for a beach cover up with a raffia cowboy hat to keep your cool.

*Digitalized floral print and Assymetric frill dress both Wallis, Ditsy print dress – Oasis.

Speak Easy…

*Equestrian detail dress – All Saints, Stripe dress – Warehouse.

Just hanging out this summer – bit of shopping? Drinks with friends on a pavement cafe? Chilled out barbeque or just like to rock your frock with a bit of edge? I’m in love with the All Saints number in particular from this little grouping. With all the leather detailing and hard colour… talk about giving a classic idea a cooler edge!

Do tell us if any of these longer numbers catch your eye and where you will be wearing it… there’s a whole Bank holiday to make a purchase! Happy Shopping Ladies…

Yours Truly,

Rebecca
xoxo

I love Ted Baker’s butterfly print! I’m yet to brave trying on a maxi dress though…being only 5ft2 I worry that I will be swamped! Maybe this will inspire me. Happy Bank Holiday weekend RMW xx

  4. Hi ladies

Aisling – I am IN LOVE with the butterfly print from Ted Baker – I think this would suit anyone of any height, it is just so pretty!

JessC – Great choice Pet, it’s a stunner.

Pippypoppy – I am just shy of 5ft 4 and have a ton of maxi’s. I think they look cute and floaty on little people as much as they look chic and elegant on taller folks.

A little trick I have is I often have them slightly pinned in at the waist as this does seem to elongate the silhouette and avoids me looking in the mirror and thinking ” short ar$e in a sack”…..

    Charlotte xxx

Great post, was loving the maxis on honeymoon, living the boho-sexy-wife dream! A tip for anyone with massively wide shoulders like me is to get one with a slightly fuller skirt; means I don’t look like a quarterback in drag. Have a fab long weekend all at RMW (and I include the readers in that team!)

OMG I am going shopping today to get maxi dresses for my honeymoon I have two from last year which I wore to two weddings and they got me through many a summer party. They are just so comfortable and can be dressed up or down. I’m only 5ft 2″ but find if I wear the dress with wedge heels it makes me look like I have lovley long legs. Will be going into ted baker today me thinks! xxx

I’m collecting maxis for festival season, they’re perfect to just pull on when you’re camping.

  10. Lauren says:

I wore a Monsoon maxi to a wedding last year, it was a little more casual, a nice bold floral print, made out of jersey material, so didn’t feel like I was trying to steal a bridesmaid’s thunder!

It’s the first time I’ve ever tried a maxi that actually suited me. I’m 5t8, so have the height to wear it, but I’m rather pear shaped, and feel very self conscious of my hips, so always think I look a little too “hip-py”! Will have to try some more this year!

Please help girls!!!!! I have just bought the ted baker butterfly dress for an upcoming family wedding-love it but now im worried with the cream background! Would it annoy the bride? She is not the type who would appreciate being upstaged please reply xxxx

  13. Personally, I don’t think that can be counted as a ‘white dress at a wedding’ so I wouldn’t worry. The pattern is quite dense.

Have you thought about asking/showing her?

  14. rebekka says:

i really need the butterfly maxi (ted baker) in a size 4 (UK 14) its for my mum (mother of the bride dress) and i’m really struggling, does anyone have any ideas ‘cos i’m pooped!

    thanks so much ladies xx
