Message In A Bottle.

message

We love sharing inspirational Bridal shoots with you lovely lot and today’s is a corker.

The theme captures the sense of longing we all feel when parted from our loved one…waiting for them to return. Minutes feel like hours…hours feel like days.

It’s a throwback to times when you had to wait weeks for a letter from your lover to arrive…when people were still hopeful and romantic enough to put a message in a bottle and watch it drift out to sea.

I don’t know about you, but I think Tuesday afternoons are definitely lacking in a bit of romance – so this shoot from Light & Lace Photography is very welcome.

Right, I’m off to braid my hair, find a pink feather shrug and send a love note out into the ocean.

Jo from Light & Lace Photography:Our Bridal inspiration shoot featured wedding couture by Sparklewren, intricate layered lace embellishment to the bust and shoulders of the dress named ‘PURE’ with white silk tulle and georgette skirt pleated into a charmeuse waistband.

The design was created as an ethereal showpiece and is a little risqué however it can be combined with a silk slip or lining in order to create modest coverage for the contemporary bride. Jenni of Sparklewren is so artistic; her designs are completely unique and can be customised to each individual bride.

This shoot was so much fun, the dress, as its title suggests, is so pure and I wanted to shoot it against a romantic backdrop evoking feelings of yearning for a loved one. I was originally inspired after reading the poem ‘Annabel Lee’ by Edgar Allan Poe who is considered part of the American Romantic Movement. His short stories and poems are so profound and I wanted to explore the idea of being in love and that feeling of ‘nothing else matters’.

A homage to 16th Century war veterans who would send messages in bottles to their loved ones. A maiden waiting for her beloved to return. A fantasy concept but inspirational nonetheless.

  1. already pinned nearly all of these images and attempting to buy that beautiful pink feather cape!! So dreamy 🙂

    1. Becca a girl can NEVER have enough feather capes in her life…it’s just like you can never have enough red lippies in your make-up bag!

  2. What an amazing inspirational shoot. I love this hair!. will be pinning this as soon as I get home from work. Beautiful photographs and such a warm holiday feeling to the shoot!
I want a big bird of prey at my wedding now just so I can reenact THAT photo!

    Love!

    1. There’s something completely awe-inspiring and majestic about birds of prey isn’t there. I remember seeing an inspiration shoot on the wilds of Scotland with them in once and I just knew one day that I’d love to be photographed in my finery holding a fearsome bird – it just makes for the most awesome portraits.

P.S. you should so have a bird of prey on your big day!

      1. It’s a gorgeous shoot – I’m in love with the hair too Nichola!!

Although I’m terrified of birds…I always think that they are going to swoop down out of the sky and attack me, so no birds of prey for me!

          1. I do have a slight fear of pigeons and most birds… It’s the flapping of their wings but for beautiful pictures I am considering it. My mums friend owns a few birds of prey and owls so this may have just become more possible than I thought 🙂

  3. Oh my god, this is gorgeous! Those colours, that warm light, the dress flowing in the wind… And I could stare for ages at that close-up/portrait. Gorgeous! I might have a girl crush!

  4. Oh my gosh, this is so beautiful!! We are huge fans of Jenni’s dresses and were fortunate enough to work with her on a shoot at the beginning of this year. Well done also to Jo for the gorgeous photography, I am going to have go and have another look 😀

    xxx

  5. Thanks guys for your lovely comments! I felt like I was in my own little fantasy world shooting this – something a little different from the run of the mill but hopefully inspiring. All weddings should feature a bird of prey! xx
