North meets Middle East… Part 1

Anyone who has been around here for more than half a second already knows I’m a sucker for florals. So this wedding really really does it for me. Whilst we know not everyone has the budget for show stoppers like these you will see in this wedding there is still inspiration to be had throughout, from the colour palette to the particular blooms used.

Roula & Peter were married in August 2009 at Lennoxlove House in Haddington, Scotland and I shall hand you over to the gorgeous Bride to share all of the planning details . All the beautiful Images are by Nadin Dunnigan Photography.

Thinking Outside The Boutique

My Dress was from Harvey Nichol’s in Dubai, The designer is Akris (Swiss). I was looking for something simple and comfortable and I went all around the wedding shops but even the simplest of dresses felt too ‘heavy’. So I started looking at white/Ivory long evening dresses in regular stores and instantly fell in love with my Akris dress when I tried it on. It was simple, chic and made me feel sexy.

Dressing the Bridal Party

My maid of honor was in a long fushia dress from Jenny Packham. The flower girls were in ivory dresses from Monsoon and they had colourful floral crowns on, while the pageboys had on navy blue casharel outfits. The groomsmen were in traditional Scottish highlandwear that were hired from MossBros.

Do It In Diamonds

I did decide to wear a veil, I bought it from Caroline Castigliano in London a few months after I found the dress. I just knew exactly the kind of veil my dress needed the minute I’d tried it on: a long light veil to flow behind me when I walked down the aisle. As for the jewellery, I wore a diamond necklace and earring set which my mum and I bought from Lebanon for the occasion a month before the wedding.

Perfect Platforms and a Bridal Vision

It was so hard to find the perfect pair of shoes. I had 3 options, but I finally went for a pair of comfortable ivory platforms. I must say that on the day itself I was still hesitant which pair to wear and had to try them all on in front of my family before I settled on the ivory platforms.

I flew in a hairdresser whom I got to know in London through word of mouth. His name is Nagi Atallah and he did a fantastic job. My make-up artist was the lovely Karen Bowen whom I found through searching on the net. She was so professional and pleasant and made me look great.

Dressed To Thrill

My handsome groom looked stunning in his Ralph Lauren navy blue suit. He had an ivory waistcoat and had put on a tie that I had seen before…. I had seen it before because I had actually bought it as a present for his father’s birthday a couple of years earlier! As it turns out, Peter hadn’t tried on the cravatte he was supposed to wear until the day and didn’t feel very comfortable in it… so he borrowed his father’s blue & silver tie which looked perfect with his outfit!

Artistic Photography

We were so lucky to find such a professional photographer in Nadin Dunnigan, who was so easy and fun to work with at the same time. We wanted a photographer who could give us artistic photographs and a special stylish album, and Nadin and her husband Marc gave us just that. We are so happy with our photos and the album looks absolutely perfect!

What a gorgeous last shot?! But ‘where are the flowers’ I raved about, I hear you cry? All coming up tomorrow, along with a whole host of other details to inspire…

Yours Truly,

Rebecca
xoxo
