When Mariam Jensen came over to the O’Shea residence for a bit of retro 60′s siren beauty she also created a more subtle summery look using easy breezy bronzes and pretty pinks. Uber natural if you have a darker skin-tone or perfect to perk up a pale winter pallor.
Bronze eyeshadow also makes blue eyes pop (as you will witness on our Vix here) and a blue-based pink lip colour will make your teeth appear significantly whiter. Basically this is a sure fire way to give you a glow for Spring and you never know, once you try it it may even make it to your “must-do” for W-day.

Mariam’s Beauty Bag:
- Doctor Lewins instant beauty (moisturiser)
- Airbase Primer and Temptu 2 foundation
- MAC select cover concealer in NW25
- My face Lady Monaco blush, with Urban Decay X on top
- Nars Laguna Bronzing powder
- Eyeshadow Base – Jemma kidd firming eye silk in Antique
- Urban decay Baked eyeshadow on the lid, Mac Mulch in the socket, MAC Shroom on the brow bone.
- Eyebrow pencil in seal brown by Shu Uemura
- Inner eye rim and inner corners – MAC power point eye pencil Hand-Forged (pale gold)
- Jemma Kidd mascara in Carbon black
- Mac fluid line eyeliner in Dipdown (warm brown)
- Shu Uemura lipstick in Pink 313S
- Shu Uemura Lipliner in pink 340

Step 1 – The perfect base. Mariam likes to use a light moisturiser, allows to sink in and follows with a primer base. Mariam uses the airbrush range for foundation as we have probably mentioned before but if you don’t happen to have one um…hanging around then a similar satin finish can be achieved with Chanel Vitalumiere. Mariam covered dark circles and redness using a light quid concealer blended with a brush and finished off with a generous sweeping of bronzing powder (Mariam LOVES the Nars range for bronzers as they blend seamlessly and don’t look muddy).

Step 2 - Eye Base. Mariam used a liquid fix eyeshadow as a base and blended a soft shimmery mid-bronze across the entire lid.

Step 3 – Definition. To define Mariam used a darker brown shade in the socket line and lined the upper and lower lid with a soft warm bronze gel eyeliner that imparts a subtle sparkle. For brows Mariam used a pencil to fill in any gaps and highlighted the brow bones with a pale champagne. Mariam just used one coat of mascara to keep the look au naturel but of course feel free to use as many layers as you like (for me personally it’s 3 – at the bare minimum)

Step 4 – Blush and glow. Mariam swept a pinky blush on the apples of Vix’s cheeks up to the hairline and blended in a shimmering bronze apricot on top to create a glowing peachy pink hue.

Step 5 – Lipsmackingly awesome. Mariam defined lips with a pencil liner and filled in with a blue-based pink shiny lipstick using a brush.

Ta Da!

I’ll be honest I was a bit scared of bronzer until Mariam Jensen created this look on Vix and now especially for a night out I give myself a subtle sweep.
Anyone a big fan of the pink/bronze? got any products similar to the ones listed above you would like to recommend?

I always found Estee Lauder bronzer to be beaut…bit expensive but always pretty
I love this look, so pretty, perfect for a summers glow.
I’ll be honest, make up scares me! I wear it daily, but stick with the usually bit of foundation, powder, bronze eyeshadow and nude lippy. All rimmel stuff- if I can’t create masterpieces then I don’t buy the expensive stuff!
I have found a blusher, which I adore and have had so many lovely comments on. Avon True Colour Blush in Soft Plum. It’s a gorgeous colour.
That’s all I can think to recommend. As you can tell by my wimpyness of make-up experimenting, I’m hiring a genius to transform me on W day!
However if you asked me about nail varnish, i could go on all day. We’re car shopping at the mo and I decided yesterday Mr B had to buy me a cute Fiat 500 in grey, as it currently matches the nail varnish i’m wearing. Co-ordination is the way forward

This is a gorgeous look! I never wear bronzer, because I’m really quite pale, and like you Charlotte, I’ve always been a bit scared of it! I wear a very bright pink blusher – http://www.bobbibrown.co.uk/images/products/E4PE_l/Blush.jpg – but that’s about all the pink I do really. I tend to stick to a heathery mauve colour on my eyes, but feel I should branch out. I love the look of the bronze, but not sure it’s any good for dark brown eyes?
I love a bronze eye, it is my everyday look. Never thought of pairing it with this kind of pink though so I might give it a try!
I am just about to run out of my bobbi brown bronzer so I may give this Nars a try
X
Hello lovelies!
@Lauren – matching your car to your nail varnish? loves
@Lauren A – I too wear a bright pink, in fact I’ve just discovered Nars in Gaity ( a new one) and love it. I can do subtle bronze but literally just a light sweeping otherwise I look odd, especially with my white/purple hair (!) I think bronzes really bring out every eye colour to be honest – green and brown included. The Nars baked is a great colour for you to experiment with.

This is a gorgeous look. I do love bronzer, but even though I wear it everyday, I am not entirely sure how I should be applying it. I kind of sweep it on in the shape of a three from brow bone, to cheeks, to jaw line, but I wondering if there might be a better way?
I have never tried bronze, I am either a really smoky or nothing girl! I do like this look though so I think it’s time for a change. I’m with Charlotte on the mascara though, at least 5 coats!!
Great look and can I just say Vix, you have flawless skin! Well Jel xx
Vix – you look super-pretty!
I’m still scared of bronzer as I’m very, very pale but I might try it on my eyes after seeing this though.
Nars Laguna is my absolute favourite, I use it every day
@Sarah – I do more or less the same, I sweep it on the bits that *would* catch the sun

Hello all,
I love this look and like some of you, have always been a bit scared of bronzer but now I’m not!!!!
I am a massive black mascara fan and its quite strange to see myself with
A – brown and
B – hardly any on
I like the overall look though, its nice and warm looking-perfect for holidays and nice spring/summer nights out.
I need to play around and see if I can do it myself as good as Mariam did (I don’t think I have a cat in hells chance but worth a ruddy good go) YES!!!! and excuse to buy some MORE make-up YAY!!!!
EmilyLouisa – thank you, I have a VERY strict routine so hopefully it pays off
Lucy – thanks hun – very kind

ooohhh it all looks so pretty. Vix, I defo reckon you should have this ‘look’ on your own wedding day, your skin looks so amazing I want to stroke it!
Off to investigate the Nars bronzers now. What are you doing to me RMW?! xxx
I love the bronze smokey eye! It’s very wearable. Great tips!
Kelly Reds – lol!!
Nars bronzer was lovely I am defo getting one too!
xx
@Kelly Reds – I too have to resist the urge to start poking Vix’s cheeks just to see if her skin is actually real and not some super realistic flawless coating. Honestly it is just perfect – not an open pore in sight.
Vix = hottie!
Mariam = genius!
’tis all!
MrsA-to-be – you have made my day/evening
Mariam IS a pure genius and so so lovely too. Very talented lady.
xx
Vix you have such a good face for making up.
More of the same please!!
xo
I never responded to all these lovely comments, thanks ladies! The “3″ technique is great for bronzer, however maybe we can do an advanced makeup post sometime on face sculpting/highlighting Charlotte for the more makeup savy brides. Thanks again for all the lovely comments! x
