Pretty Penny Perfection……..part 2

And on to part two of the gorgeous wedding of Penny and Ben captured by the amazing photographer Julia Boggio.

I love how everyone looks like they are having a truly fantastic day and the fact everything is just so darn pretty.

And the bride Penny? sophisticated, sexy and oh-so lovely.

Big Day PERFECTION.

Capturing The Spirit

We decided pretty early on that we wanted really special photographs that captured the day and also our personalities. After numerous research on the internet and various wedding forums I came across Julia Boggio’s work and knew that she was the one for us! I think she really caught the spirit of the day and we are absolutely thrilled with the results.

Castles and Candles

Flowers were pretty much the main decor for us, we also bought hundreds of candles which the catering staff very kindly dotted around the castle for us and lit up in the evening. It looked so pretty against the rough stone walls.

Sweets and Cake

We filled mini sweetie jars with sugared almonds and mini eggs as favours and just dotted a few around the tables.

As much as i would have loved to splurge on a designer cake fit for the stars, i could half imagine Ben and i still trying to finish it 5 years later! I’m not a massive cake person, neither is Ben so we opted for something a bit different and a bit funkier. We ordered out cupcakes from a lovely place called Primrose Bakery we had plain old vanilla and butter cream, all cream with a hint of green – and they were delicious!

The Music Festival

Ben and I are real music people, we love it. We decided on a live band to play in the evening – we wanted to get the party started without the cliche “opps there it is” style cheese. After a bit of research we discovered Aldephi Rhode who were based in Clapham. Perfect for our friends to go and see them. After getting the thumbs up from our music loving best friends we booked them on the spot.

Being such an amazing day we ended up moving the whole of the evening outside on the lawn, the band set up outside, everyone kicked off their shoes and danced the night away to our favourite songs from Razorlight to the counting crows. People later said it was like being at a music festival!

One of my fondest memories is one of the (very hot swedish catering staff) on the shoulders of one of the ushers pouring Havana rum into various guests mouths. (Very Ben and Penny haha!)

Forgoing Tradition

Believe it or not we didn’t have a first dance! We couldn’t think of anything funny enough that hadn’t already been done on you tube or other friends weddings and to shuffle around to a love song while our friends gathered round just wasn’t very us, so we broke tradition and just danced with our guests instead!

Make It Your Own

Our wedding was so special and unique to us because it represented us as a couple, we didnt do a lot of the traditional things that you would expect from a wedding, like a first dance or cutting of the cake because it just didn’t feel right for us.

Everything from the flowers to the band and the food (even our entrance music which included songs from The Script and Snow Patrol) we really thought about so carefully so i would just advise other brides to have a really good think about what they want for their day and to go for it.

Every time i look at our pictures and wedding video it makes me smile, it was worth all of the 18 months it took to plan and i would not change a thing about our special day.

Thanks so much to Penny and Ben for sharing their special day with us and Julia Boggio for the ultimate eye candy.

Big Happy Ever After Love
