Pretty Perfect… Part 2

April 20th, 2010 by Rebecca@rockmywedding Leave a reply »

It’s Part 2 of the first of our prettiest wedding this week and with a blush colour palette, a vintage style to the photography, plus gorgeous flowers by the Bride herself who is a florist (check out Florian) and a stunning venue, this was an easy pick for All about the Pretty week…

All the stunning photography was by Lisa Devlin – thanks so much for submitting a wedding that makes me love this blog even more! :)

The Prettiest Blooms

Again, all of the flowers were done by myself with some willing helpers, as I own my own florists, Florian. The ceremony room was in the Orangery and so was full of light, So I wanted to keep it all soft and pretty. I had a birdcage filled with flowers spilling out with butterflies hovering over the top on our ceremony table and two large displays in vases as a backdop to the room. I also run a length of rose petals down the aisle which on the grey stone floor- really stood out.

For our wedding breakfast I wanted something wow as well as something I hadn’t done before( it wouldn’t be the same If I had something I had done lots of times.) I took the chandliers which run through the house and which was on our invites as my inspiration and wanted to create centrepieces that almost looked like the chandliers themselves.

I arranged compact domes of flowers on top of martini vases which were filled with a crushed glass effect. I then sourced lengths of crystal like garlands and droplets which I looped around the edge of the vase. I was thrilled with the finished design. Oh and to top them off I put a led light into the base of the vase so they lit up too!

A Dapper Groom

Daniel had a 3 piece suit tailor made for him at D2K (Dress to kill) in the Cut, waterloo. It was Navy blue with details like flashes of lining, stitched around buttonholes etc he also had D Crush D2K sewn into the lining in hot pink (nice touch) He wore a white tie and hugo boss cuff links and dark brown Armani brogues. Gorgeous! The groomsmen all had blush pink roses with diamonte studds. All the groomsmen and dads wore navy blue slim cut suits from Next with navy blue ties.

To my surprise as I began to walk down the aisle he got really choked and by the time I got next to him- he was fighting back the tears! He only just managed to say his vows and was a side to him that no one had seen before! And one that I adore.

The Prettiest Photography

We chose Lisa Devlin as our photographer. We met her at Buxted and knew straight away that she was for us. The edgy look about all her work, but with a natural unstaged elegance was just what we wanted.

After talking with Lisa for a bit I thought she had a really creative eye and clearly loved what she does. This rubs off onto you and makes you feel like she genuinely wants to spend the day with you at your wedding.

The Prettiest Cake

Cake was not top on our priority list and so we went for 3 tier plain white iced sponge, from Waitrose.

I was going to dress it with flowers to make it different and I found a pair of shoes that were xmas decorations from Gisela Graham, they looked like mini versions of my shoes and decided they had to go on the top tier. The cake was yummy and by adding personal touches looked really expensive- I would recommend this route all the way.

The Prettiest Favours and Paper

I made our favours by ordering simple elements boxes, ribbon and diamonte buckles and ribbon on line from diy favour boxes and the handcrafted card company and making them myself.

It takes time, patience and attention to detail which is something I love doing, so for me was great doing with the girls (no wine though) as you need steady hands. Being so close to Easter I filled the boxes with white and mocha coloured mini eggs and a note saying “ Happy Easter, love Mr and Mrs Crush”

I arranged a few other touches like chair covers and hired candle lanterns that went along the walkway to the ceremony room. From Pollen in Hove.

Pretty Stress Free

Our wedding was laid back and reflected both of our personalities and therefore felt completely natural and stress free. The small details are what make things stand out as being different and therefore memorable. I made cones for rose petal confetti for the girl guests with the same ribbon diamontes etc. My advise would be spend time shopping around for small details and do as much as you can to match everything up. There is so much choice out there but only pick what you love, love, love and what means the most to you.

Huge Congratulations to Nicola and Daniel and thank you so much for letting us kick off All about the Pretty week in such splendid style. And thank you once again to Lisa Devlin for taking such beautiful pictures – definitely go check out her work!

Yours Truly,

Rebecca
xoxo

Emma, the hotel had that umbrella kicking around, so just have a word with your planner and the drawing of the hotel is standard on the menus that they provide. Hope your wedding goes well.
