Purples And Gleam…..part 1

May 10th, 2010 by Charlotte@rockmywedding Leave a reply »

Oh how I do love a tulip, a brightly coloured shoe, some D.I.Y accessorising and a bride who looks like she is having the time of her life.

I must be extremely lucky then lovelies as the wedding of Anna and Andrew that took place earlier this year in Chelsea has all of the above and is captured to perfection by the uber talented Rock My Wedding sponsor Crash Taylor.

And although this affair may have taken place on a cold and crisp January day the skies were blue, everybody was smiling and you just can’t help but feel all warm inside.

Promise.

Simple Sparkle

My dress was from Pronovias. It was one of the first ones that I tried on and I loved it straight away, but as with all dress shopping and continued looking and in the end, went back for it. It is called Haiti, quite simple in design, but just so elegant. They added a small belt under the bust to give it a bit of sparkle!

Hepburn Hair

My hair was done by the wonderful Sev from the Hepburn Collection He and his wife Roz were fantastic, we had such a giggle and he is a master hairdresser! My make-up was by Lina Cameron who made us all look stunning!

Purples And Cream

The flowers were from Ultraviolet which is our local florist. I’d often bought bouquets and arrangements from them and was continuously impressed, so was so pleased when they agreed to do the wedding flowers.

Gary was a star! I wanted simple bouquets and table arrangements with spring flowers and he made them look perfect.

He was so patient and put up with my ever changing ideas for colours, flowers and styling. My bouquet was made of purple tulips and cream anenomies and the bridesmaids in a contrasting cream tulips and cream anenomies.

Hand Made Pretty

I chose a wonderful piece of hair jewellery from Jo Thorne . I’d decided against a classic tiara and had my hair in a bun to the side and the piece sat just above it. It looked beautiful shimmering through the veil. In fact, it was my Mum who made the veil and it was perfect!! She literally spent hours and hours making it and it is ever so special…. Thanks Mum!!!

We’ve now decided that it’s going to become a family heirloom! I love pearls and wore pearl earings and my mother-in-law’s vintage pearl necklace.

Kitten Cool

The shoes were a tricky decision. I love killer heels and am already quite tall at 5’ 8”, however, my now husband is just a couple of inches taller than me and I decided that I didn’t want to tower over him on our wedding day, so restricted myself to a kitten heel. It was so difficult finding a typical wedding shoe with a low heel.

Being a massive shoe fan, I couldn’t wear something that I didn’t love!! In the end, I went for a purple pair from LK Bennett and then I accessorised them myself with ribbons, veiling and a brooch! And I do love them!!

Winter Chill

Our wedding was on 30th January 2010 and we were so lucky, the day was beautiful – cold, crisp & sunny blue skies. The service was held in Chelsea Old Church, SW4 and the reception was in Chandos House, W1.

I actually went and purchased a huge bunch of purple tulips after these images were submitted and placed them in jugs all around the house. They are just gorgeous.

Come back tomorrow for the reception details and some fantastic “couple in the city” shots courtesy of Crash Taylor.

Big Tulip Love
