Now this recommendation actually comes from my sister Melissa who is not only an avid RMW reader but also a make-up artist.
As you can imagine she tries all sorts of make-up all of the time so it takes a pretty special product to impress. Luckily this one is low end in terms of price and high end in terms of performance – I bring you 17 Maximum Volume mascara people, just £2.99 at Boots.

Out for my birthday dinner on Saturday Melissa was sporting suspiciously false-looking lashes but upon being questioned by my friend Sarah and I (I say questioned – also see “accosted”…) denied any such flutter fake-age and admitted to discovering this bargain.
I particularly like the bristly brush – I think it catches every last lash.
Anyone use anything else by no.17? Do tell.

Thank you!! I’m going to purchase this on my way home.
I am a Clinque High Impact Mascara girl, but at £17ish can’t always bear to part with the cash. Instead I bought a No.7 mascara which i find totally unusable as it has one of those STUPID rubber wand things that all they do is dump mascara in a big dollop on your lashes. £14 wasted.
I don’t get those rubber wand things, can anyone actually get on with them?????
YESSSSSSS my benefit mascara is just about to run out and being a month away from W-day I am on a serious budget so this could not be better timed!!! thanks!! x
the maybelline one in the yellow tube is amaze! I think it’s called feline or something xx
@Laura – j’agree! The yellow Maybelline is wicked, very dramatic!
I just bought 17 Peep Show in both black and brown and it is amazing!
They do it in brown? I’m off to the shops …..
Oh and yes, I’ve used the Pressed Powder and the Sheer Light Foundation, if I’m very honest two of my fave products, and I also have their blusher, and the short stumpy brush, oh and i like their two tone bronzer compact. And the nail varnishes are good too.
Im a bit of a closet 17 fan, cheap but good quality – I just turned into a bit of a make up bag snob and felt a bit cheapskate when getting my products out, i work in retail in central London so wanted to fit in with the ‘cool girls’!!!
Oh darn it! If only I had read this before I went mascara shopping this afternoon. However, I did only pay £2.99 for a Dior mascara from a discount shop where I live. Fingers crossed, this one will do a good job too.
Best ever mascara (having tried clarins, benefit, Laura Mercier etc) is….Max Factor False Lash effect – think it’s about £10 but so so good. Ooh I do love a good make up discussion!
I’ve recently discovered 17′s Miracle Matte foundation – I’m really pale (my mum calls it ‘English Rose’ but basically I’m a good bit paler than the palest shade MAC makes!) and always have trouble buying foundations without spending a fortune. With Miracle Matte I had 3 possible shades to choose from and it was actually quite a close decision in the end – I’ve ended up with Soft Ivory and it’s LOVELY – goes on really nicely, lasts well and makes my complexion properly genuinely matte so I can carry on rocking my 60s dollybird look. Plus it’s only £6.99 (although I got mine free via the joyful medium of Advantage points, squee!)x
17 eyeshadows are really good, I haven’t brought make-up in a while but when I need to replace something, I’m definitely looking at 17 based on the other comments!
