Hi Everyone!
I thought we would try demonstrating some eye-make-up “How To” today…..
I love all shades of green for eyes from emerald to jade and I think it suits most colourings. Use the right green for you and it will instantly make you look really fresh and pretty.
My Brush Kit for This Look:

1) Eyelash Curlers
2) MAC 219 Pencil brush
3) MAC 239 Eye Shader brush
4) Estee Lauder concealer brush
5) Estee Lauder large shadow brush
6) Ruby and Millie Eyelash comb
The Make-up Essentials:

1) Benefit Bad Lash Mascara
2) Estee Lauder Disappear concealer
3) Lorac eyeshadow in crystal ( to highlight)
4) MAC eyeshadow in Juxt ( pale yellow/green)
5) MAC eyeshadow in Steamy (emerald green)
6) MAC eye Kohl in Rosemary and Thyme ( brown/green)
The “How To”

1) Apply a little dab of the concealer all over the lid and socket with the concealer brush, this evens skintone and helps shadow stay crease free.
2) Apply the yellow/green eyeshadow all over the lid using the large shadow brush
3) Using the eye shader brush apply the emerald shadow into the socket line, blend well and sweep into outer corners and then bring round to the upper lash line up to the centre of the eye.

4) Now there is no risk of shadow fall-out apply concealer to any dark shadows using the brush, take right into the inner corners of the eye to really open them up.
5) Apply the green/brown kohl pencil to the upper lash line and underneath the bottom lashes. To give a softer look I blended with the MAC 219 pencil brush and a touch of the yellow/green shadow.
6) Curl lashes ( I hold for 10 seconds) and apply mascara. I used two coats here, allowing to dry and combing through in between applications to give a natural flutter.
7) To finish apply a highlight shadow to the eyebrow arch and inner eye corners to really make them “pop”
Hope you like it…..
Please let me know what other looks you would like to see and we’ll get on and create them for you

Thank you so much for this, I generally never wear eyeshadow as I tend to put too much on and it looks caked on! Nice to see step by step pics too, will have to invest in some ‘tools’! x
I have bright green eyes and thick black hair. Im getting married in December and my scheme is red and silver. What would you recommend for make up colours. Red seems to be very harsh on me due to my pale skin. THanks L x
Great advice very easy to follow. I would love to see some looks for very pale skin as I have pale skin and find it hard to do the smokey eye evening look without looking like morticia adams on the eyes or aunty sally with the blusher.
Hey Melissa,
Great advice thank you, could you please do a smokey eyes step by step, I have tried to follow them in magazines before and always end up looking like a panda!
Also I would love to wear red lipstick but just can’t find a shade to suit me, I have olivey toned skin and green eyes. What would you recommend? xXx
Hi Ladies! Lovely to hear from you.
Lucy – Glad you like it! MAC brushes are great and looked after they last forever.
Laura I would suggest soft greys and muted silvers for your eyes and a natural lip. A pinky- red gloss would look great -Nars do one in a pot called “Baby Doll” both my sister and I wear it.
Stacey and Alex, right I will certainly do a smokey eyes post ASAP. I was doing the make-up at the Glam show in Earls Court at the weekend (hosted by Nikki Hamilton-Jones) and we did a LOT of smokey eye looks using purples, greys, browns and even black.
The difference was rather than using a powder shadow we used a lot of powder pencils …REALLY easy to use.
Leave the red lip with me – I’ll investigate what is best for your skintone and come straight back!

Hi Melissa,
Loving the make up step by steps – always very useful!
I don’t know whether you’ve seen them but my best friend and I am addicted to the bourjois (spelling?) “smoky eye” collections, I have just bought the purple set, and it is amazing and really easy to get smoky eyes.
Can you please do a post on the best concealers, and how to apply them, I have massive under eye circles and I can never find a good concealer, and cannot apply it to save my life!
Also cannot cover spotages, they refuse to blend in, but I think its probably my lack of ability than their stubbornness!
Thanks
Lora
Melissa – Love the green eyes, very natural yet funky at the same time!
Lora I am the queen of concealors, i am prone to purple dark circles under my eyes and have tried everything, I have Mac studio sculpt, clarins instant light eclat minute, ysl touche eclaat and the best by far, would you beleive it is good old Loreal Touche Magique from Boots! it comes in a click pen applicator with a brush on the end, and is the best by miles i cannot rave about this concealer enough! It’s about £7 too, an absolute bargain! xx
Thanks Melissa looking forward to the smokey eyes and red lippy!
Sorry to Hijack – but Lora I had a mini make over at Laura Mercier the other day and they have a special concealer just for under eyes with a fab lightening powder as well. Maybe pop into your local John Lewis and ask for a trial. xxx
I’d never think of using green eyeshadow but love this look. I’m so going to invest this weekend!
Melissa – I’d love to know how to apply eyeliner. I’m usually at it and it always ends up being about an inch think, which really isn’t a good look! Any tips? And what’s easier for a complete beginner – a pencil or liquid eyeliner? xxx
Right then will check out some of those concealers! I like the Laura Mercier secret camouflage for spots and Estee Lauder Disappear for eyes – I use YSL touche eclat on top of this if shadows are really blue.
My sister swears by the Christian Dior version of YSL – skinflash for under eye circles as her skin is very dry and this seems to be quite moisturising.
H – it really depends what look you are after. I prefer pencils as they can create a fine dense line or can be smudged for a softer effect. For a fine line always sharpen well – I rate MAC kohl and the 24/7 pencils from Urban Decay ( great selection of colours, available at larger Boots stores)
Charlotte nearly always wears liquid right at the base of her lashes as it really doesn’t move and she likes that whole 60’s look. It’s not the easiest to apply but practice makes perfect! (She uses Lancome and bourjois)
I’ll do some tutorials on eyeliner ASAP

Thanks everyone,
I am building up a christmas wish list which is now as long as my arm!
I shall go out and try them all… wonder how many mini makeovers I can get away with!
