Inspiration

I'm loving all the deep dark hues on the blog this week. They definitely bring a feeling of warmth and opulence, especially when teamed with oodles of romantic candle light like Sophie & Andy's gorgeous affair. Bride Sophie wanted to bring a touch of London glamour to the country so blacked out all the windows in The Barn at Bury Court, which looks absolutely amazing. I literally don't think we've featured a rustic barn looking so sumptuous and cosy, it's such a welcoming sight to see this approach to styling such a naturally rustic venue. The mix of navy, gold and red colour scheme runs through the gorgeous fashion as well as blooms and decor, with the Bridesmaids rocking gold beaded No1 by Jenny Packham gowns and Sophie looking absolutely stunning in her lace 'Marcel' Pronovias gown with a red lip and bouquet. I'm definitely feeling all fuzzy inside and ready for the weekend after viewing this rustic romance wedding.

The Rings

Sophie The Bride: We had our bespoke rings made by the same independent jewellers that Andy had my engagement ring made by and I went for 2 wedding rings surrounding my pear shaped engagement ring.

Decor/Styling

Even though we chose a barn in the country, we are Londoners born and breed. So we wanted to do things a little differently inside the barn. We went for simple Gold and Navy colours and aimed to create an elegant evening. We moved away from the traditional barn décor and introduced some of our London lifestyle. We wanted a glam evening feel to our wedding breakfast. So opted for a candle light dinner, enhanced by blacking out the windows in the barn. The navy and gold touches were complimented by beautifully deep red and fuchsia flowers. We bought all the brassware for the tables and invested in the beautiful gold votives on the tables. We made the big BAR sign and the gold circular bunting, we also made the glittery table numbers and the table clothes. Caramel under cloth and navy runner. We used deep pink dried flowers for decoration on the tables and the confetti out of the church. We made the message and card table decorations and table cloths. We wanted to make our wedding detail, without it looking ‘homemade and rustic’

Caterer

Our caterers were Jacaranda and the food was sensational. We went all out with a 3 course meal, starting with bass on a bed of asparagus and pea puree to a main of duo of beef including slow cooked beef cheek. Followed by a layered choc chop brioche with chocolate pouring sauce and Chantilly cream The groom chose a bespoke suit by Alexandra Wood of Saville Row and shoes by Russell and Bromley. The morning of the wedding I sent Andy a chest to open. It had 4 boxes inside linking to the old tradition riddle– ‘something, old, something new…’. Each gift meant gift meant something significant, the main gift being ‘something borrowed’. For this I gave Andy my father’s pocket watch (who passed away only a short while ago) to borrow for the day, so he would be with Andy on our big day. I also had one of my Dad’s favourite flowers hidden in my bouquet.

Photographer

What a amazing day we had, captured beautifully by Francesca Secolonovo. Waiting for the pictures to come through is an anxious wait, but we were over the moon when we saw them. On taking a look through the many images, most guests said they didn't even know Fran was around let alone capture the fab natural moments we can now look back on forever. We would recommend Fran's passionate style and naturally discrete nature.
