I had met Polly Alexandre at the Designer Wedding show and we discussed showcasing her work on Rock My Wedding sometime in the future. Of course I knew she was an amazing photographer……I just don’t think I realised quite how amazing until I went and had a sneaky peak through her gallery.
Polly’s images literally blew me away and this sunshine filled affair in particular well…… so all encompassing was it of all the things that I ADORE in a wedding that the actual idea for “All About The Pretty” week came from this total knock-out- beautiful Big Day.
Laura and Tim were married on Saturday 22nd August 2009 at St Margaret’s Church, Bethesden, Kent. Followed by a reception at St. Augustine’s Priory in Bilsington.
It’s about Summer. It’s about Love. It’s about the Happily Ever After.
And most importantly it’s about capturing all of the above to absolute perfection.
I had two pairs of shoes, a high heel for the day and a lower heeled pair for dancing in the evening. The ones I wore for the day were Gina and were pink! I liked the idea of wearing a shoe that tied in with the colour scheme. I got them from ebay for about a quarter of the price in the shop and the pair I had for the evening where from BHS.
Finding The One
I knew my dress was the one as soon as I tried it on I cried. I tried on lots of styles and dresses that were £500 to £12,000! I was so happy with my dress as I felt the style really suited me and what I wanted for our wedding. It was made of layers of chiffon and lace and it had beautiful beaded flowers with scalloped edges.
The dress had an amazing train which from the back looked stunning in the church. I thought my dress was reasonably priced but looked a great deal more expensive than it was, it by Pronovias from Bridal Gowns at Jodi, Maidstone, Kent.
Jewels, Flowers and Horseshoes
I also wore a three layer Veil by Bridal Gowns at Jodi, Maidstone, Kent, after the church I wore flowers in my hair by H&M. As my something old I had a sliver horseshoe that my grandmother passed down to my mother which she had sewn into her wedding dress so that was special. I also had a Bag by BHS, Earrings by Accessorize and Bracelet by Mikey.
Pretty, Loose and Natural
My hair and make-up was done by Carla Beever. I decided I wanted my hair down as I feel prettier wearing it that way and I didn’t want a stiff up do. I had clip in extensions which I had my hair coloured to match. I asked Carla to do my make-up in the colours I usual wear as that is what I’m used to, we did lots of trials with eye lashes though.
I spent many a lunchtime shopping for the right fragrance. I wanted something that represented the feel of the day. I wanted something floral but not too sweet or heavy. I found the prefect fragrance that really summed up the day Bvlgari Rose.
Dressing The Groom
I thought it was unfair to make Tim to wear a girlie colour so before we decided the colour scheme for the wedding I asked him to choose what he wanted to wear first and then we could base the colour on what he chose. Luckily he chose ivory so we were free to pick any colour scheme.
Just so darn pretty.
And you haven’t even seen what is in store for part two. I’m talking polka dot bridesmaids dresses, beyond gorgeous couple shots and a whole heap of the most beautiful blooms.
Big Summer Love
