Sweet Favours

I have a real sweet tooth and am always the one who has wolfed down any edible favours before the wedding breakfast has begun. I’m not fussy, it can be chocolates, sweets or any combination of the two. I also love a good sweet table. We had one at our wedding (many moons ago!) and it went down a storm with a constant crowd around it. It is possible we bought a few too many but it definitely sustained plenty of epic dance floor moves.

There is something so nostalgic about tucking in to a few of your childhood favourites as you reminisce about the time you gave your first crush a packet of love hearts on valentines day aged eight or when your gran used to give you parma violets as a treat.

If you love a sweet treat as much as I do then read on for your chance to WIN a whole heap of tasty goodies for your big day.

When you tie the knot the wedding ceremony is for you and your partner the most important part of the day. All roads lead to the moment your eyes meet at the altar, rings are exchanged and a kiss seals your union. However, it’s most likely to be the reception that your guests are most looking forward to, where the celebrations really begin and everyone can let their hair down. We think it’s the little touches that make all the difference, injecting character and individuality into your big day with your wedding favours and table decorations is one of simplest ways you can do this.

Swizzels Matlow have been making confectionary in Great Britain since 1928 and our colourful array of sweets have been delighting young and old for generations. Our much-loved sweets including Drumstick Lollies, Parma Violets and Love Hearts in their iconic packaging are instantly recognisable and of course delicious! Not only do they make a nice little treat when your sweet tooth calls, but they also make for wonderfully whimsical little wedding favours that will bring a smile to the faces of all your guests no matter their age. Nearly all of us will have childhood memories of eating a packet of Love Heart Sweets, each one embellished with a cute message that read I Love You, Hug Me, Cuddle Me and many more sweet nothings. A lot of us will have also coyly given one to our childhood sweetheart as a sign of our affection!

Did you know Swizzels Matlow now also offer white Wedding Love Hearts that read ‘Just Married’? They still come in their traditional and instantly recognisable hot pink and white packaging, but you can now have them personalised with your names and wedding date. Each packet can also come in their own little white box with ‘Just Married’ embossed on the front, making perfect little favours for your guests. For those of you whose wedding is still a distant dream, you can even sweeten your proposal with our ‘Marry Me’ Love Hearts in a gorgeous little silver trinket box!

You could also use our Love Heart Sweets as lovely little edible table decorations, they look gorgeous sprinkled playfully across the tables, intertwined with pastel ribbons and flowers or overflowing out of heavy glass jars. You could also use the Love Hearts along with our other colourful iconic sweets to make statement centrepieces, think traditional big glass Victorian sweet jars filled to the brim with Drumstick Lollies, Refreshers, Parma Violets and Love Hearts – Or why not go the whole hog and have a candy buffet!

There are countless ways to use Swizzels Matlow sweets to brighten up your wedding reception, our website is full of inspiration and ideas for how you could use our Love Heart Sweets and other confectionaries on your big day. From sweet hampers to candy buffets – The options are endless!

    1. I’m a sucker for the messages that didn’t quite stand the test of time – “Fax Me” is a personal favourite! The idea of receiving a romantic fax makes me giggle…

    2. Be mine! I’m pretty sure there used to be that said “Top boy” as well…the old school ones are the best!

    3. Dream girl! My OH gave me one that said that really early on in our relationship, it’s so cringe that it made me melt! ❤

    4. ‘Marry Me?’
Gosh why didn’t he think of that for the proposal? Haha!
TBH, they taste so good I must confess I probably only read the first and last of each packet!
Oh I just love them! 😍
