I remember stumbling across Barnsley House when looking at venues for our own W-day, it was completely beautiful. Delicious grounds, stylish interior and the opportunity to have an outdoor ceremony, what’s not to love?
Lauren and Matt certainly thought the same and chose it for their own sophisticated and timeless wedding this summer. This soiree for me is the very epitome of elegance, a clean colour palette, a natural and radiant bride and an abundance of delicate blooms.
Oh and who can resist a small dog with an ivory ribbon collar?

My bridesmaid Lucia and I are both makeup artists for Bobbi Brown in John Lewis Cardiff. I decided to do my own make-up and Lucia made my other bridesmaids and mother in law look their beautiful best. We decided upon fresh pinks on the cheeks and lips and slightly smokey defined eyes, we used all Bobbi Brown products and the makeup stayed looking beautiful even through the speeches!!
I wanted my hair to look simple and classic so I decided on a large bun at the base of my neck. I’m lucky enough to have another very talented Auntie Ros as a hairdresser who created a simple style that I loved! My bridesmaids all did each others hair, beautiful flowing curls pinned back with chiffon peonys.
I Just Knew
My dress was by the spanish designer Pronovias. My bridesmaid Caitlin and I were chilling out looking through their website and I instantly fell in love with it! I loved the unusual one shoulder detail and the simplicity of the design. I organised a trip to London with Cait, my mum and mother in law (a fab day I’ll never forget). As soon as the assistant zipped me up I knew it was the one, it just felt right.
My very talented Auntie Ann (email@example.com) has a business making mother of the bride and wedding gowns. She made a beautiful peony shaped hair piece from the off cuts of my wedding dress and a stunning, Spanish style, silk chiffon veil.
A Subtle Sparkle
I wanted shoes I’d be able to dance the night away in, so I decided on a pair of silver kitten heels from Dune. They were so comfortable and I’ll definitely be able to wear them again!
Bright And Fresh
Natalie (the Barnsley House wedding planner) recommended a fabulous florist Vivienne Nott. I knew I wanted everything to look feally bright and fresh and very relaxed. We decided on all white big bousey blooms of Hydrangea, Peonies and David Austin Roses in clusters of different shaped vases for the table centerpieces.
My bouquet was a mix of the same flowers with a few white sweet peas to break it up a little. The bridesmaids had gorgeous “pom pom” like bouquets of white hydrangea. The Button holes were simple white roses, and the isle chairs were lined with Hydrangia heads tied with silk ribbon. Vivienne did an amazing job, the flowers looked and smelt absolutely Beautiful!!!
Matt looked gorgeous. The relaxed and modern vibe we wanted at the wedding lent itself to simple grey suits, so Matt and his Best Man Rhys splashed out and had they’re simple grey suits made in london. My step dad, grandad and father-in-law all chose their own grey suits that they felt comfortable in. We teamed the suits with crisp white shirts and my Auntie Ann made skinny ties in the same fabric as the bridesmaid dresses.
Inspired By Nature
I was inspired by all the beautiful flowers in the Barnsley House gardens when we visited in the June before the wedding. The predominant colour was a beautiful soft lavender, in various hues. I wanted the Bridesmaid dresses to reflect this, so my auntie designed and made a stunning floaty chiffon gown in a slightly different shade of lavender for each bridesmaid. They looked stunning, especially Anna who was 7months pregnant and lasted in her dune heels all evening! 😉
