The Orient meets English Eccentric… Part 1

Well, it’s a corker of a week here on Rock My Wedding. With 2 weddings from the lovely Lisa Devlin, we’ll be sharing the story of 2 best friends who were married and bridesmaids to each other, within a month! First up Claire and Gary, married on 19th September last year with the ceremony at The Royal Pavilion, Brighton followed by the reception at Bartholomew Barn, Kirdford in the Sussex countryside.

Claire works for the very talented photographer Lisa Devlin, and having visited many venues, these two stood out as being ideal for the relaxed atmosphere that she was looking for. It was these venues that inspired our theme of English Eccentric meets the Orient.

Relaxed elegance in Lace

My dress was from a shop in Brighton called Blessing, I had heard lots of good things about the bridal shop and they didn’t disappoint. We were going for a relaxed and informal day so I needed a dress to suit.

I have to say that I loved the way the corset made me feel and the overlay of lace gave me the floaty element I wanted. I knew it was something that Gary would like too!

I had very simple jewellery for the day; a few hairpins that a friend had lent me, a pair of drop earrings and a bracelet that my mum had made for me. My dress had lots of detail in the lace and little lace capped sleeves so it needed something simple.

My shoes were fairly modest in terms of heel height as Gary isn’t much taller than me! I had a pair of comfy flats for the evening… which were much needed.

My hair and makeup were kept natural. Judy worked her magic using this amazing airbrush tool for applying my foundation. It looked so natural and lasted all day. I don’t normally wear much makeup so it was perfect for me. The majority of my hair was down with a few hairpins. I went for something that would be comfortable and I wanted to still look like me.

A Splash of Aqua

My adult bridesmaid, Leanne wore a gorgeous, to the floor, empire line dress from Monsoon that fitted in with our colour scheme.

My three beautiful flowergirl’s wore dresses that my mum had made. The clever lady that she is had made little ivory dresses with a lace overlay (to match my dress) and a sash that matched perfectly with Leanne’s dress. For our groomsmen, we hired simple grey suits from Moss Bros, with a white shirt.

Casual, Groom Style

Gary went for a light grey suit, which he brought from Hugo Boss. He wore it simply with a white shirt and no tie, to kept it relaxed.

Sigh. This is all just sooo pretty and I’m loving the theme – what a clever spin on the venue and chosen details!

Come back tomorrow for the rest – it’s a corker!

Yours Truly,

Rebecca
xoxo

  8. I LOVE this wedding, and Rebecca you are right that dress is a stunner. We will try and find out the brand for you.

Amy – thanks for pointing that out, we as a rule don’t tend to edit the brides text as it is their write up of their own wedding so it’s important to keep it as is.

However we have updated the text as I assume “didn’t disappoint” was what was meant.
