The Princess Of Paper Pretty

January 26th, 2010 by Charlotte@rockmywedding Leave a reply »

Everyone that read my original “You Rock My World” blog will know what a nightmare I experienced with finding pretty paper for my own Big Day. I am glad to report that since starting Rock My Wedding we have discovered all sorts of stationery loveliness that we will continue to share with you.

This particular paper princess will always have a special place in my heart though, not only did Shari Amos the creator and owner of Bijou Woo design a suite of gorgeousness that was totally “us”, she was also one of the loveliest and sweetest ladies I have had the pleasure of meeting in my wedding industry journey so far.

And she put up with my completely Bridezilla-esque last minute colour tweaks and text changes (!)

It gives me great pleasure to share with you the newest styles from Bijou Woo’s chic, unique and utterly delicious latest collection. Shari has kindly offered to share some of the detail behind her business savvyness and stationery fabulousness………

Over to Madam Amos:

I started Bijou Woo 2 years ago and it is really growing! My sister Kelly is now on board, creating a real family service. Having been in the design industry for ten years, I am still amazed at how excited I get when I see the final results, whether it’s designing wedding invitations, name cards, table plans or silly badges for the best men to wear. Maybe I am just a design geek….

Weddings have become a passion of mine, the diversity and ever changing fashions mean that it’s an area that is constantly evolving. It’s a privilege to be part of such an important event, to be involved right from the beginning and to create designs that mean so much to the couple to be. I love hearing how romances were started, how families get involved with the special day and just how much thought and creativity is part of people’s ceremonies.

Bijou-1

Cupcake Cutie

I was inspired by Anne Marie from the Urban Bakery’s delicious creations! It’s brilliant to have such a vibrant and fun design added to the collection.

Bijou-2

Blooming Lovely

Just to prove that inspiration really does come from anywhere, this design was inspired by an amazing photo of some fairy lights which were hanging over a mirror at home. The shapes and forms were just stunning.

Bijou-3

Seeing Spots

This cute, retro design reflects how weddings are now keeping up with the times, long gone are the invites with bows and dried flowers hooray! Pastel prettiness is where it’s at.

Till Death Do Us Part

Bijou Woo accommodates all tastes and unique styles through their bespoke service. Till Death Do Us Part, was created for a lovely, funky couple who were married recently in Mexico. The bride loved the design so much that she is going to add it to her tattoo collection ….we can’t wait to see where it goes!!

A huge Thanks a million to Shari Amos for her piece ( and generally being a huge supporter of RMW)

Big princess paper pretty love

  1. I’m thinking the retro spot design would be perfect for a summer garden party vintage-retro wedding.

    Very pretty Shari!

I have to say Charlotte that when I read your original report on a certain wedding website, I loved how obsessive you got over your wedding stationary and how you had a particular idea in mind, you just needed someone to create that for you. Based on this I decided that I was going to hunt for someone that would do the same for me and after 2 months of online searching and a “shortlist” of 20 (!) I did find that lovely arty lady who has created stationary for me that is so preddy, it makes me cry and squeal all at the same time!
So thank you, for showing me that you should search for something that you really love, for the day that you will always love! xx

PS. Lovely new designs from Shari.

LOVE the spotty ones and the cupcakes!! I couldn’t find anything I liked either so I went the bespoke route but if I had seen these I would have 100% gone for them. x

As a stationery addict, I naturally wanted some amazing things for my upcoming wedding… and kept finding only American blogs and American paper companies! High street shops and big retailers here in the UK are almost all uninspiring – and so expensive! Buying loose coloured card and envelopes in one of those places seemed crazy once we did the maths (luckily, my fiancee is a mathematician… I was more focused on colour matching the paper to the ribbon!). Anyway, for all these reasons I want to shout loudly about the wonderful paper mill direct (www.papermilldirect.co.uk); although they don’t have a sexy website like the online US luxury stationery shops (paperies… boutique stationery…. mmmm), the prices for good-quality card and envelopes are simply fabulous. I just had a “designer paper box” delivered: about 600 sheets of textured card in my chosen colours for £35, and £5 for 50 matching envelopes! Spread the word – this place is worth knowing about :-)
