The Winters Tale

The light in this afternoon’s inspiration shoot is just perfect. I don’t know about you lovely lot, but I’ve kind of given up on a long hot summer this year…so this snow filled shoot is really appealing to me!

There’s just something so very romantic, magical and a little bit bleak about the images from Jo Bradbury, it’s like a Snow White v Narnia mash up, with stunning florals thrown in for good measure…

The Terry Fox dresses lend themselves perfectly to the fantasy theme too – the off white tones, the elegant way they fall, perfect for a fairytale heroine. One of the gowns even has a perfect little cape, fringed with lace. Oh be still our beating hearts – we’re in L.O.V.E.

Jo The Photographer: I have wanted to shoot a winter styled wedding shoot for some time now as I love the bleak beauty of winter and the romantic light, I also shoot an awful lot of winter weddings and wanted to ‘pay homage’ to the bleaker, cooler months. I took inspiration from Shakespeare’s ‘The Winter’s Tale’, but also wanted to mix in fairytale elements and knew it had to be set in a forest.

I stumbled upon this beautiful forest on my way to photograph a wedding in The High Peak, imagine our delight on the day of the shoot when it had been dusted with a sprinkling of snow!

Teresa at Wild Orchid utilised evergreen foliage, stags horns, winter florals such as hellebores and pine cones to create a stunning bouquet, table garland, foliage filled urn and flower covered gilt frame.

Terry Fox’s wedding dresses (Whisper and Harvey Moon) provided a perfectly ethereal look and I have to say a heartfelt thank you goes out to all the talented folks who collaborated on this shoot and who brought a little bit of magic along with them!

      1. Hi Margaret! I have finally purchased my dress. When I get my swatches through, I’d love to contact you about the possibility of a cape for my wedding! You do truly beautiful work!
