This is not the Luxe List. It’s the Love Lust List… Part 1

The wait is over, it’s Monday (boo) and we have very exciting news… Woo! Our post about Advertising on Rock My Wedding was certainly the point of some debate but it was actually written to support this one. As I wrote this I realised there were basic messages to be conveyed on our policies before we shared the news. Thank you to all of you for being patient while we share our latest venture in what is not strictly wedding eye candy, but something that we hope will make both your wedding planning easier and help you to totally Rock your day, in whichever way you choose!

So what have we been doing that prevented us from sharing the survey findings thus far? Well, there’s the thing. You see one thing stuck out like a sore thumb from the survey responses. Something loads of you, (the most important people around here) wanted and I’m pleased to say, something we had already started developing. Great minds eh? In fact, it’s something that Charlotte had in mind right from the very start of the blog and we have been slowly but surely designing, (Thanks Adam ;) , ) tweaking, promoting and perfecting for what feels like forever now. And it’s almost ready.

Before I share the news, here are some of the responses we received from our survey when we asked you what would help you the most with sourcing suppliers for your wedding…

‘It would be easier sometimes knowing where the supplier is based, looking for suppliers is so stressful and then finding what you think is your, (for example) perfect cake supplier, to only find they are based at the other end of the country is just heartbreaking!’

‘I would want suppliers specific to my area, and often the adverts aren’t.’

‘…either already booked or they are things that I want to source locally.’

‘…None in Scotland (that I’ve seen).’

‘…Although I live in London, I am originally from Scotland and am getting married up there. I do find that most or your advertisers are England based, so not convenient for me.’

‘…I have clicked on them but would only really use local companies.’

‘…Usually looking for someone local’

Hmmm. I see a theme here ladies.

So what exactly are you saying you want readers?

‘I did find it a struggle to find certain suppliers when I started looking and I think it would be good to have a directory of them all in one place.’

Suppliers ‘divided into local area sections perhaps so they are easier to see.’

‘Regional listings i.e.grouping recommended suppliers by geographic location’

‘I think separating them out into sections somehow would really help. So it is really clear what the advertisements are about.’

Love Lust is born…

So that’s what you’re getting ladies and gentlemen, The Love Lust List.

The Love List List will be a regional directory of suppliers that we think Rock. They will be personally invited by us to apply and there will be exceptionally high standards. In the interests of continuing transparency, there will be a nominal fee, but lets just say it’s less than we all probably spend in Starbucks in a week or so ;) (insert any other vice you may have here!) so certainly won’t be enough to sway us into including anyone that is in anyway less than completely A.mazing.

And fear not, ‘amazing’ is not code for a bl*^dy rip off. Members will be chosen for the innovation, creativity and professionalism and it’s a sad truth of consumerism that as demand for a product (person) rises so does the price but we will be working our backsides off to source budget but still beautiful products and professionals.

The list will be divided up region by region so you can look for suppliers in your area and will also be divided into supplier type categories so you can search for either people who work nationally or online based companies. And it’s not going to be an endless list. It will be highly edited with a limit on the members in each area taking the leg work out of finding Rock My Wedding endorsed, like minded, super cool people who genuinely want to Rock your wedding. Aside from relying on our growing (combined) expertise in the UK wedding market we will also be heavily investigating Brides recommendations from their own experience, starting with over 250 recommendations left in our survey by you, our readers.

Next week, Charlotte will be talking you all through it and sharing some sneaky screen shots of Adams genius :) but in the mean time, to keep you all happy, here is our brand spanking new Love Lust Logo… you like?

Seriously, Adam is a genius (and a very patient one at that, putting up with all our tweaks and guiding us through the design process, he deserves a medal!)

One last thing, an apology that this hasn’t come sooner for those of you it is too late for, but we hope each and every new Bride finding the site and still to book suppliers will find this a stress saving, useful, reliable and just all round wicked resource.

Yours Truly,

(a very nervous) Rebecca
xoxo

PS! Just in case you were wondering, this isn’t the sister site we have mentioned, that remains under development, just waiting to pop out and wow you all! ;)

Guys what a great idea, I love having a wee look at your sponsors but being up in Scotland not that many apply to me. Having a list like this would be great for the things I haven’t yet booked or indeed the things I didn’t know I wanted :)

Keep up the great work guys

  2. Emily says:

    Yey!!

Fab idea, there are no decent supplier lists out there, I’m very much looking forward to it!

    xxxx

  3. Anna K says:

Woo hoo – let’s all jump in a time machine, Back To The Future style, and go back a year, because I SORELY could have done with this last summer! Great idea guys. Maybe us brides-that-were could even sign up and use the suppliers for other events, so not just restricted to weddings.

Just one question though Rebecca. You say it will be a highly edited list (fab, that means good quality suppliers!) but why will you be imposing a limit on the amount of suppliers in each area? Is that so it remains a bit exclusive and to stop places like London having a million suppliers and making it hard to search through?

  4. Becca says:

Two months to go – just in time! I look forward to perusing the list in great detail…

  5. Hi Anna, you are absolutely correct, the regional limit allows us to promote the products and services that we truly believe in. As for London – It’s a big place! So we’ll be splitting it up into a few sub-regions to incorporate a bit of proportional representation…. there will be more details like this to follow later in the week….

  6. Mahj Ansari says:

Weeeeeeeee! This is fab as I have just over a year to go and a few more things to sort out.
I shall be perusing the ‘Manchester/Northwest’ section with great interest.
    Thank you RMW :-)

  7. OMG!!! I have been soooo stuck on finding the perfect caterers and music for our day that are local to us, you ladies are life savers!

And, I cant even believe this isn’t anything to do with the sister site. You ladies (and Adam) just keep giving/saving me!

    big LOVE xxxxx

  8. Rachael says:

It would be very helpful if you could source a supplier for the directory for me. I’m not exactly sure what their job title would be but basically somebody that takes all of your akward guests (you know the ones that ask too many questions or don’t do what you need them to, when you need them to do it) and give them either a poke with a stick or a sock in the mouth to get them back in line… I would be eternaly grateful.

  9. hmmm… maybe the job title could be “Wedding Shepherd” ….basically, someone who walks around with a cattle prod…

  10. Rachael says:

Is that an offer Adam? I am sure you would get lots of clients.

  11. Sarah says:

This sounds like a great idea girls! Shame it won’t be in time for my big day (12 days – eek!) but I’m sure it will be a great resource. I live in the South East but am getting married back home in deepest darkest West Wales and keep getting funny looks for suggesting slightly more ‘out of the ordinary’ ideas that haven’t been heard of down there!

Keep up the good work – you’re doing a great job and the thousands (must be that many!) of us that follow you can’t wait for your next developments!

  12. brideandchic says:

Great idea but sadly too late for me, boo hoo!! It shall make life a lot easier for a whole load of other brides to be though!
    xx

  13. Jenny says:

“Wedding Shepherd” – Now that really would be the best wedding service out there!

  14. Anita says:

Too late for me too plus, I’m getting married in Italy so suspect your list won’t extend that far (!) but a fab idea!

  15. Jenny says:

Great idea girls and guy aka wedding shepherd! Love it!

    xx

  16. stacey says:

Brilliant idea might be still good for me even though i am getting married on the 24th July (still a bit last minute with organizing!) and appreciate this must have been a lot of work for you guys xxxx :-)

  17. Julia says:

Great idea. Most supplier lists are too long and not necessarily the best xx

  18. So glad you ladies like it, we are working very hard to make it amazing for you!

Adam – I hope this is supposed to be a hot shepherd and not a beardy man wearing a robe made of sack.

    :)

    Charlotte xxx

  19. Anna K says:

Oh no Charlotte, in my mind the shephard looked like something out of Brokeback Mountain. Without the gay part. No hessian sacks for him!

  20. Fiona D says:

What a fantastic idea! I could’ve done with this about 6-12mths ago when I just seemed to be going around in circles for what seemed like forever.

Sarah – I’m in the same position as you wrt getting married in the depths of West Wales so I know exactly what looks you mean :) x

  21. Lorna says:

Great idea guys! I was married last month, but I LOVE your site and I can’t stop myself checking it every day still!

I got married in London, but even with 100′s of suppliers I still found it hard to find the right people, so this is a fab idea and I’ll be recommending your site to any new brides-to-be I meet!

    L x

  22. Kim hAWKINS says:

Don’t forget, where a supplier is based in not necessarily the only area they will work! I am based in the South East but cover weddings all over the UK and abroad. Although this maybe doesn’t apply to cake makers, florists etc, I think you’ll find that most photographers are willing to travel.

Having said that, grouping suppliers into easy to find areas (most brides will still choose to book a local-ish person) will certainly allow readers to search quickly and easily!

  23. Hi Kim

You are quite right and to highlight this we do also offer national listings to vendors such as stationery suppliers or photographers who cover the entire UK as well as their local area.

    Charlotte xxx

  24. Lucie S says:

Another fab development from you girls! Thank you for listening to your readers and responding to their requests…it sets you apart from a lot of the blogs out there.

  27. I think its a genius idea. We have just been invited to join a company who are based in Somerset and their whole business is dedicated to building a list of quality suppliers for weddings in that particular area, i think its fab. Otherwise its like searching for a diamonte covered needle in a very large haystack and where on earth do you begin!

We are based in SW London but are fortunate enough to be able to work with clients from further afield too, the beauty of technology nowadays :)

Will be very interesting to follow this and refer future clients for other products/services! xx
