My name is Charlotte and I’m a Macaholic.
I was just sweet 16 when it all began….
It’s 1996 -M.A.C had recently come to London and was already achieving “cult” status. My lovely Mum ( who seems to be in the know about these things often even before my make-up artist sister and I even have half a clue)…..takes a trip to the make-up mecca that is Harvey Nichols ground floor and purchased a few pieces of the sleek shiny black packaged cool that is “Make-up Art Cosmetics” for little teenage me.
In the little “white” HN bag….
Twig lipstick.
Vanilla eyeshadow.
Studio Fix Powder Foundation in C2.
I can remember exactly. Pretty sad right?
13 years later and I’m afraid to say there is no known cure for my addiction. I am possessed, obsessed and totally devoted to all things glossy, pretty and M.A.C
Now I don’t use these particular items any longer ( although I did for years – my Mum has great taste) but I do use a whole heap of other M.A.C fabulousness that I want to shout about.
Every Day Natural

Ricepaper Eyeshadow I sweep this across my lids every day for a “I look like I have had more sleep than I actually did” pop of champagne shimmer. It doesn’t move -seriously not even if I go to the gym straight after work. Neither does it irritate my contact lens.
Prrr Lipglass A glossy slightly goopy pale pink. I rub this on with my finger if in a rush or wear over most lipsticks for a bit of shine. Popular with all sorts of glamorous celebrity types like Paris Hilton and Victoria Beckham.
Well Dressed Blush An uber natural beigey pink with glowy bits blush. Suits almost every skintone. Everyone I have applied it on/lent it to has gone out and bought one. It really is that great.
Evening Sexy

Point Black Liquid Last Liner This is BLACK and has a nice pearly sheen. Once you have mastered the knack you can create a perfect sex kitten flick that is completely melt proof.
Viva Glam V Lipstick A natural pink with slight mauve undertones and a subtle lustre. Every penny made from the sale of a Viva Glam lipstick goes towards the M.A.C Aids fund so you can be charitable as well as gorgeous.
Steamy Eyeshadow My favourite blueish green eye candy. Works brilliantly for a smoky eye look and blends like an absolute dream.
Did you know that if you take 6 empty M.A.C containers back to your nearest counter you get a free lipstick? Oh yes you do – they call it “back to M.A.C” and it’s flippin’ genius.
I also love ( even if my wallet doesn’t ) the monthly limited edition collections they bring out. There is ALWAYS at least one item that I lust after and the campaigns are nothing short of incredible in terms of styling and design.
Out right now is a little gem of a collection called “Have a Love Affair” which is entirely appropriate because believe me you WILL want to have a love affair with this to-die-for array of lip luciousness….

My wish list currently includes lipstick in Lovelorn and dazzle glass in baby sparks……
Are you addicted to M.A.C?
Well we want to know what your top products are so we have yet another reason to go visit a counter
Big sleek black shiny packaged Love

Aaaaaaaaaaah, I LOVE M.A.C! This post is like make up porn! I swear by their Select SPF 15 foundation for everyday, and in the summer (and when I’m having a good skin day) the Mineralize Skin finish powder. Both give really good coverage without being heavy. Great range of colours means that I cn easily find the shade to suit my normally difficult to match olive complexion. I usually use their blush in ‘Dainty’ which I love but I’m going to check out ‘Well dressed’ now. Love their eye shadows too, the pigment is fab and the colours are very true – a particular favourite is ‘Twinks’,a gorgeous deep bronzey plum shade xxxxx
I heart MAC!!!!
My best friend used to work for them and got 75% off their products – Christmas and birthdays were amazing. She’d get me bags and bags of the stuff – literally MAC make up bags full of products. The special edition kits were the best… Sigh! Sadly she’s gone travelling for 2 years and I now have to purchase my own MAC bits and I have realised how bad my habit actually is!
Yay Mac Lovers!! right Rach I am off to check out Dainty and Twinks on-line woo! I have some mineralize powder and love it.
Victoria – How amazing and how rude of your friend to go travelling when she should be getting you 75% off!!

I’m rebecca and I’m addicted to rmw (seriously) and laura mercier kohl caviar eye liner.
Waiting for Chanel to get samples back in of the Chanel foundation recommended by Kit before Christmas now my lm tinted moisuriser has run out.
Charlotte, what was the MAC you used for your body on your big day?
Ha ha ha!!
I remember getting a Spice lipliner, Shroom eyeshadow and Studio Fix in C3 (when it came in a tube) in 1995. I used to look like an Oompa Loompa- I went from C3, to NC30, down to NC25 and have now realised I am actually NC20!!!
I must say I am not as addicted to MAC as I used to be (I do have 2 full 15 eyeshadow palettes though!) as I don’t think the quality is as good as it used to be.
Ooooh Mac favourites …..where to begin??
Current eyeshadow faves are Pincurl and Hypnotizing from the Love Lace collection and the Icescape lip gloss – just lovely!
Love the lipglass in Nymphet and Lusture glass in Flusterose and eyeshadow in Nylon and pink freeze and the lippy in M.A.C Red and Snob!!!! But I love it all!!!!!!
I am loving the MAC love!
Rebecca – I used mineralize skin finish in global glow and a shiny spray lotion from Model Co ( at space NK) soap and glory at Boots do a similar lotion called “glowtion” that is only about £6 and smells lovely.
JoeyEmma – OMG. I had shroom ( now too pink) and spice liner ( too dark/red – used to be MEGA popular didn’t it but not heard of anyone using it for years) and am now NC20!!!!! have many a time been an oompa loompa
Lynda – I too have Nymphet ( gorgeous) Flusterose and Nylon eyeshadow – I swear by this for sweeping under the lower lash line to really “open up the eye” – wore it on my wedding day in fact and am sitting here wearing it today…..

Oh and a word of warning- when I last took my empties to the Mac counter in Selfridges, Manchester, I was warned that B2M was going to be phased out soon.
I heart MAC my particular faves are their pigments so fab for a night, out really bright and they last forever as a little goes a long way, love crimbo when they have limited edition brush collections such a good way to get them at a discounted price and they come with fab little bags as well.
Have to admit to being a bit of a benefit fiend as well I could not live without benetint and their high beam xx
i am totally addicted too. i dont wear their foundation or base but everything else i wear is mac. i love their girl about town lippy, pink swoon blush, aqualine liquid eyeliner and all their loose powder eyeshalow pots. amazing!
I’m a Retrospeck eyeshadow girl all the way. I know that some people complain out fall out when they use it, but I L.O.V.E it. It blends like a dream and it will definitely feature on my big day!
Ps: I also bought Steamy after your sis mentioned it on one her posts and swear by that now too! I fear I might be off to investigate the Ricepaper eyeshadow come lunch time tomorrow…
Ok then while we are at it my must have MAC eyeshadow shades here are my top 5 shades in no particular order.
1. Satin Taupe- awesome taupe, looks great with a smokey eye. Slightly greyish brown, but with no red at all
2/ 3 Shroom/ Ricepaper- both nice for a wash over the lid or to highlight the brow bone. Ricepaper is slightly warmer. I use Shroom in the day, Ricepaper at night.
4 Humid- lovely smokey dark green
5 Woodwinked- a really creamy darkish gold colour (veluxe pearl finishes are THE best)
As a soon-to-be bride i love RMW anyway for all the wedding features, but now i love it even more because i’ve found fellow makeup addicts! I heart MAC! At least once a month (or if i’m being totally honest, it’s usually twice) i buy myself a little makeup treat – sometimes just a lipgloss and it’s a little sad how happy it makes me….but i think i’m in good company
Hehe, is this the post with the highest amount of comments on RMW ever?!
I too wear all MAC makeup, apart from mascara which is Max Factor. My faves are the Select SPF foundation, Dainty blusher, Nylon eyeshadow and Fluidline eyeliner. Everything is fab though, I love reading what everyones faves are!
xx
Love this! Brilliant – I have a whole list now of stuff I must check out because of you lovely ladies – we heart comments.
Em – I am with you on the makes you happy bit, and it’s not a lot to spend in the grand scheme of things for a little bit of happiness

I heart MAC too! I’d always wanted to try it but for some strange reason never got round to it, so when looking for make up for my wedding day I decided I’d waited long enough and was just going to have to try it!! So 2 days (!) before I walked down the aisle, I walked into HN in Edinburgh…and spent over £100!! (ooopss!!!) I love all their products, their shiny black packaging…everything really!! I wore retrospeck (I’m with you H – LOVE it!) and scene eyeshadows, grey utility eye pencil (normally prefer black but wanted something a bit softer on the day) prep +prime, zoomblack mascara, NC15 studiofix fluid foundation and patisserie lipstick, love them all!! However, after reading all your lovely comments I am definitely going to have to head to HN this weekend to check out ricepaper and woodwinked and their lipglasses!! (and all the other gorgeousness that will be on display!) I agree with Charlotte, it’s not much to spend for a little bit of happiness Amy, I think it’s good to treat yourself every now and then

I’m ashamed to say I was a MAC virgin until I read this post and ordered Ricepaper Eyeshadow, Prrr Lipglass and

It all arrived today so i’m going home to get glammed up right now. Yay xx
