So you gorgeous lot loved the nails and the hair and the the frock and the general immense contemporary coolness that is the W-day of RMW real bride Katie and “the boy” Scott.
Well folks you are going to love it even more as now we get to share all of the beautiful reception details, dreamy portraits and general evening merriment.
Oh and Katie, I think Nails Inc and Nars counters all over the UK are going to have a serious stock level problem this Christmas. You should ask ‘em if you can work on like commission.

Big Beautiful Blooms
Something I will never forget, is the first glimpse of our gorgeous flowers – from the bouquets, the buttonholes, the pew ends… the list goes on. Each time I saw them, they took my breath away.
They were simply stunning. The hues of purple and hints of white looked incredible, and Chrissie, our florist from Horticouture had completely surpassed any of my expectations. She worked so hard on our flowers, and the pieces of pretty that we had hired from The Angels - urns, mirrored plinths, chesterfield sofas – complimented the flowers better than I could have imagined!
Whilst I’d always had a clear picture in my mind of what I wanted with the blooms – huge puffs of flowers, no greenery, and lots of hydrangeas – you never know if things will turn out just as you imagine.
What I got more than fitted my brief in every single way, the flowers (especially my bouquet) were beyond beautiful and completely transformed both the church and our reception room at Oulton Hall. Perfection.

Pretty Little Bits and Pieces
I’m all about the detail in everything I do, so it was never going to be any other way for our wedding. I didn’t go with any particular theme, or focus on a trend… we just went with what we like.
From the little things – candles wherever you looked, hanging heart decorations, silver LOVE letters, randomly placed jars of our favourite sweeties…the list goes on. I made sure that everything we bought wasn’t just for our wedding too – now we have more pretty little things dotted around our house… and they constantly remind us of our day
On each table, we put a Wedding Speech Sweepstake Kit from Paddy Power … we knew that a lot of our guests like to have a bet every now and again, and not only was this kit free, it also went down a storm! There was uproar when our Best Man finished his speech… only to get back up again and do a few added anecdotes!

It’s A Touch Of Magic
A couple of months before our wedding, we both started to think that maybe we had plowed all our efforts into the decorations and the evening reception, and we wondered if people would be left standing around during our drinks receptions – especially when we snuck away to have some photos done.
We didn’t really have any budget left and our ideas weren’t exactly inspiring! But, when we were approached by close-up magician, Nick Chubb - who also happens to be our Best Man’s brother – to see if he could come and entertain our guest, we jumped at the chance.
I’m so glad he asked us!! He was mind-boggling!! A little like Dynamo, he did close up, slight of hand stuff. Don’t even ask me to begin explaining what he did – to this day, I am still baffled! We thought it might be more the children that loved him, but it was the adults who couldn’t get enough!

Cupcake Treats and Paper Pretty
There’s not a month that goes by without me craving a cupcake. I think I have tried every flavour and shop going! Five years into our relationship, and The Boy’s a convert too… so, it was a no brainer for our cake. It HAD to be cupcakes. 150 of them to be precise!
My mum wasn’t overly impressed when we decided this… phrases ‘but what about the top tier?’, ‘its not traditional’ come to mind, so we had a little compromise. We had the traditional fruit top tier, and, yes mum, we would cut it.
Cutting it on the day was a whole different story. Oh yes, we tried to cut it. And tried again. It was so hard to cut! Que: more giggling and hysterical photos!

The cupcakes which were designed and made by Cakes by Rachel Edwards, looked so pretty though, and they almost looked too perfect to eat… almost! Soft creamy icing and sponge injected with lots of yummy fillings… how could we all resist?!
Not just satisfied with our cakes that suited us so well, we wanted to make sure all of the details tied in together, and Shari from Bijou Woo designed our entire stationery suite – from save the dates to menus, table names and little signs that we wanted making.
She is seriously one of the nicest people I have ever dealt with – and so talented too! I’m currently thinking of ways that I can get more stationery designed by her… surely there must be an excuse?!

Pick a Prop, Strike a Pose…
I was a little worried after we booked our photobooth with Groovybooth, as it seemed that everyone was doing the whole photobooth thing, and it was a little overdone. But, so what? There were very few people at our wedding that had seen anything like this – and it was possibly the biggest hit of the night.
The photos have completely killed us with laughter – from the ridiculously silly to the extremely revealing (I’ll leave the details to your imagination!) – everyone loved it, and the queue outside the booth was so long all night!
Give people a few drinks, silly props and a camera… the results will be hilarious. Definitely money well spent… I just wish I’d been in it a bit more!

Nothing Beats a bit of Live Music
Our band, The White Keys, were insanely brilliant. Talented and good looking – I think our guests were happy with that mix
We’ve had so many comments from people since our wedding about how fantastic they were too – which just confirmed to us that we definitely made the right decision.
As the night went on and the drinks flowed, the dancing became more outrageous and simply hilarious – something I will never forget. After The White Keys’ last song, all of the guests were on the dance floor chanting for an encore… and to think I had worries that no one would dance!
We asked them to cover Adele’s version of Make You Feel My Love for our first dance, which they played amazingly well. To say that we weren’t looking forward to the first dance was a bit of an understatement. But, in the end, it wasn’t so bad. We threw in a few twirls and just forgot about anyone watching us. Hopefully the fact that the band were so good masked our less than perfect dancing..!

Last but by no means Least…
Our photographer, Stewart Randall, and our videographers, Jo and Simon from Shoot, were awesome.
After our wedding, we actually wondered what photographs were taken as we didn’t notice Stewart snapping away – we were surprised to see so many pictures and moments captured. I there may have been a few tears when I first saw our wedding photos – they were better than I could have imagined.
The Boy was initially adamant that a photographer would be enough, but I’m glad I pushed for a videographer – it was well worth it. Jo & Simon did such an amazing job and we will cherish the video forever. I’m just surprised how many times they caught us kissing… we’re usually not a PDA type of couple!

Words of Wisdom… from the Bride, and the Groom!
Scott: I guess the best bit of advice that I can give is to remember all of the reasons that you wanted to get married. When you’re up to your neck in favours and playlists, and suppliers aren’t getting back in touch, remember that the real reason you are planning the day is to be married to the person you love, and nothing else. Yes, all the bits and pieces (or ‘niceys’ as Katie calls them) will add personal touches to the day but even without them you would still reach the same objective, to end the day as husband and wife – and that for me was the most important bit.
Also, the week leading up to the wedding is possibly the most stressful you’ll ever have. Try and cut each other some slack, don’t judge your other half based on their illogical behavior during this week, if we did, no one would ever get married!
Last thing is to remember to enjoy it from the moment you wake up until the moment you fall asleep. Our wedding day was the best day of my life, and something I’ll never forget!

Katie: Our wedding was perfect for us, it was the best day filled with heaps of fun, love, laughter, romance and a few hilarious drunken moments (our guests – not us!). I honestly wouldn’t want to change any of my memories and there’s not a day that goes by where I don’t see something, or hear a song on the radio that reminds me of our day.
But, no one ever told me that not everything would be absolutely perfect, so perhaps my expectations prior to the day were a little high. It’s not the dress or the decorations that make your wedding day perfect, its those little moments that do.

So, don’t sweat the small stuff – it’s just not worth it. I was upset about my dress, but did it ruin or tarnish my day? No way. It was magical and I married The Boy of my dreams – that’s what really matters.
Oh, and make the most of it! We were the last two to bed at 5.30am… and those fews hours sat in the bar with close friends and family after the party had wound down were the best end to our day.
Big ‘blissful newly-wed’ Love,
Katie

If I were Katie and Scott I wouldn’t have a scooby do which one of those portraits to blow up BIG and have on my kitchen wall. Hell, they are all so delicious I’d have one in every room.
I would just like to say a huge thanks to Katie for being such a genuinely lovely girl and continually leaving such encouraging and supportive comments for all of the brides that grace these pages. May you have a long, joyful and AMAZING marriage pet.

I’m currently trying to convince my boy of the virtues of the photobooth so I’ll be sure to relate your comments on how great the pictures turned out!
Katie, sorry bit late to the party on this one
Your wedding is just fabulous! I love the hair, and you all look like you are having such a good time. Love the pic with you and the magician! What a lovely shot
Congratulations again hun!
Oh and I bought some grey nail varnish yesterday but alas Rimmel not Nails Inc…
Any good recommendations for a very dark blue nail varnish? (oh sorry bit off track there!)
Celine – honestly, if you can convince your boy to have a photobooth, it will be well worth it. Everyone still goes on about the funny pictures – there were some hilarious moments captures and some rather naughty ones too. They are the perfect keepsake for us to remind us that everyone enjoyed themselves, and that we did throw a good party (which was one of my worries!)
Abi Lady HarHar – any grey nail varnish is fabulous in my book and as for a dark blue… I can recommend the new Chanel shades… I know they’re pricey but could be one for the Christmas list?!
xoxo
Part Two was definitely worth waiting for. As others have said everyone is just having the best time and that really shines through!

I’d love to know where you got the purple hard hat with spikes on it from!!!
@Shirley – I was wondering where the Viking hat was from actually but felt of all the pretty things I could ask about I couldn’t ask about that…
Glad it’s not just me!!!
Katie – we need to know where your cool headwear is from!!

This looks like such a happy and romantic day – I love the way the Katie and Scott look at each other, and the beautiful way it’s all been captured. Completely gorgeous.
It looks amazing! can i be cheeky and ask where the tie and pocket square your husband is wearing are from? I heart them! x
Fiona – it was from Austin Reed! We actually bought two ties and had one made into a pocket square. Not sure if they have that print, but they have some other fab ones in at the moment!
Charlotte/Shirley – haha, that image of our friends in the hats cracks us up every time!! The hats/glasses etc were actually the props that Groovybooth brought along with them… we couldn’t actually get them off people, they all loved them!
xoxo
Hi Katie,
So lovely to see your wedding on RMW. I cannot believe how many aspects of your wedding are very similar to what we had. Great minds think alike. Your husband’s buttonhole is probably one of the best floral creations I have ever seen.
Teresa x
love love love it! Katie your wedding is my absolute all time fave RMW wedding. We have also chosen the Peter Posh suits, and I think you may have taken inspiration from the same Kim Kardashian photo that I have stored away waiting for my hair and make up trials
. I can only hope that my day will be as wonderful!
xx
Katie you were an absolute stunner of a bride.. and pulled your wedding off beautifully.
