What’s New For YOU.

It’s Friday today… hooray! which means I need to arm you for the weekend with some serious pretty….right?

Well there have been a fair few things that have dropped into my inbox this week so I thought I’d share ‘em, apologies in advance for any desire you may have to batter the plastic as a result.

It’s As Much About The Styling As The Actual Stuff

At least that’s what I think when I see a new fashion campaign, particularly bridal. You can’t buy every dress on the planet but now and even when I was planning, I always take inspiration from the styling of the new collections too – the hair, the make-up , the accessories….

And I am currently loving the BHLDN new spring look book. The new season gowns are (as always) gorgeous but it is the soft up-do doo-dah and glossy pink lips that I am coveting.

The Avant-Garde Gown: Long strings of pearls + delicate floral headband = Dreamy

The Divine Downpour Gown: Shiny bits on your forehead + intricate statement bracelet + feminine petal earrings = Modern Princess

The Lively Chevron Gown: Statement Necklace + peachy bronze sling backs = Contemporary Chic

And yes BHLDN deliver to the UK and ALL of the accessories can be purchased via the website.

Here are some of my must-have jewellery items (no I can’t afford to buy them all but I would very much like too…)

Clockwise from top left:

The Mellifluous necklace – Just imagine those lovely long swingy bits all the way down your back… *sigh*

The XO Earrings – How ruddy cute are they?! A gorgeous (and generous) gift for your maids.

The Carolinigan Necklace – Actual crocheted lattice sprinkled with pearls. I’m not sure I have ever seen such a perfect piece in my whole entire life.

The Bachelor’s Button Earrings – Your something blue? I so would.

Continuum Cuffs: What are these?! some kind of look-at-me bracelets? an extra bit of sleeve?! I don’t know and I don’t really care, they’re ace and I want someone somewhere to rock a pair for W-day please.

Movers And Shakers In Make-up

I have a confession to make. I have been neglecting MAC of late… I know, as an avid follower/purchaser/lover for over fifteen years and I haven’t bought or even looked at a single thing for months…. I feel like some kind of traitor.

However, I’m definitely having me a butchers at the new Daphne Guinness collaboration (how awesome does she look?!) and have already heard rave reviews about the Blueblood and Endless Night nail polishes.

And if you are looking for a beauty treat but don’t want to break the bank then you need to check out the Lisa Eldridge for Boots No 7 Spring collection, not only is it all on 3 for 2 at the moment but you can also use your £5 off voucher thingy (I checked and they are valid until March..) AND the packaging is super cute.

My favourites from the range are the cream blush in Blooming Pink (I swear, one swipe and you look all healthy and glowy) and the Vital Enlightening Highlighter Powder which is actually prettier and more flattering than a couple of my high-end versions.

Cut Price Karl Lagerfield

Karl Lagerfeld’s new “Karl” collection was released on Net A Porter on Wednesday and I’ve got to admit I like it. A lot. And I have always been a little bit intrigued by this white ponytail sporting/shade wearing phenomenon.

I wouldn’t go as far as to say the range is cheap (far from it actually) but there are a few pieces that are more affordable and could jazz up your existing wardrobe.

I REALLY want a pair of the fingerless leather gloves but apparently they sold out within minutes. Boo.

And just generally I like the whole glamorous whilst edgy biker edge to the collection, all leather, zips and sequins.

I’m still not sure I am cool (or rich) enough to wear any of it though.

So then lovelies, let me know what’s new with you – I’m in London today and there may just be time for a wee trip to Oxford Street….

;-)

Charlotte! I am laughing very very hard. Those leather fingerless gloves are the most useless gloves I have ever seen – they don’t even cover your palm!

    Very pretty though.

And oh how I want the earrings the Downpour bride is wearing!

And the Lisa Eldridge lippie in Blossoming Pink makes you look vibrant and youthful and like you should be frolicking in a spring field. And it’s light enough for work. And long-lasting. Get thee some now.

Need, want, must own those cuffs.

I am obsessed with the Lagerfield. In fact, one of our tables is going to be named after him at the wedding! I especially like him because he only really drinks Diet Coke all day long…no water, no coffee, no wine…just good old DC. And I imagine he has it from a silver tray with a Chanel embossed straw.

  3. Kirst says:

Thanks for introducing me to BHLDN Charlotte – my wedding budget just increased about 3000%! Now I want it aaaallllllll! Pretty overload!

  4. Celine says:

I swear I spend most of my Friday afternoon now checking out Charlotte’s design tips….. this is unsustainable!

I love love love the tull era tea length dress. If I were to choose all over again (or just wanted a new dress that cost that much), I’d go for that. I love the shoes too!

  5. Carol says:

Oh lordy, how amazingly amazing is the Comme Il Faut BHLDN dress? Want! But I’ve already got my dress sorted…it’s okay to wear 2, right?

  6. Jenny says:

J’ADORE those X0 earrings – so cute! Forget the BMs, I want these for myself (very Gossip Girl!) x

  7. Kelly Reds says:

Ohhhh there is a gorge pair of earrings I like their. Hmmmmmmmmm…………………………….

  8. Alex (84) says:

I want that shimmer that blush and those x o earrings and the blue ones!
Love the dresses too! Wonder if I could be re christened and wear it as my christening gown seen as wedding dress sorted?!
    X

  9. Bryan says:

love the back on the first dress, the fun of the second and i’m loving the cuffs a lovely detail piece

  10. @Anna K – you’re probably right, but the most fun fashion is a little bit pointless I find.

@Pamela – I want to come to your wedding. That is all.

@Kirst – Oops…. well the jewels are quite reasonable?!

@Celine – I make life difficult for myself by finding this stuff – although Valentines is coming up you know…

@Carol – Yes of course it is, in fact I INSIST you wear 2 frocks.

@Jenny – I want the blue flower ones for myself AND the XO ones…

@Kelly – Which ones? like I said to Celine – put then on the Valentines list!

@Alex – You need the shimmer pet, also looks ace on brow bones.

@Bryan – I’m sure that dress would look just great on you… especially with the cuffs.

@Charlotte – you are more than welcome lovely! We have applied the ‘if you’re not really ‘in’ our lives then you’re names not down’ rule of thumb to the guestlist and what can I say…RMW is deffo ‘in’ our lives!

The Big C enjoys a Sunday morning catch up in bed while I read the Sunday Telegraph…oh sorry, the Sunday Telegraph Stella magazine…my shoulders aren’t broad enough to hold the width of a broadsheet in bed…(was going to fill you in on the woes of my pathetic shoulders on the wedding dress shopping post earlier this week – they just cannot seem to hold any kind of strap up…Vera’s Farrah dress was my dream dress but even with all the alterations in the world I am unconvinced that strap would stay put)…

Anyhow, I digress…yes, you can come to the wedding. I was at an event with work the other day where there was a live twitter feed running throughout…REALLY want to set one of those up on the day…but in a pretty, non-death by projector way…

I also just have to share my favourite Karl quote ever: ”In summer I sleep under a white ermine cover and in winter, under sable.”

“In the whole world, there is nowhere I can go. Everybody has a camera, and it is flash-flash-flash, and I am a puppet, a marionette, Mickey at Disneyland for children to play with. In Japan, they touch me. I have Japanese women pinch my ass, so now I must say, ‘You can have the photo, but please don’t touch me.’ You cannot pinch the ass of a man my age! And I cannot go out without something for my eyes, because someone might throw chemicals in my face, and I would be like my childhood French teacher whose wife burnt him with acid, Mr. Pommes-Frites, can you believe the name. I can cross the street nowhere in the world, I can never go into a shop. Oh, it’s horrible, horrible. In fact, I do like it. It’s very flattering, and very fun.”
