Planning

I am loving the move towards more organic homegrown florals for weddings. We live in such an incredible place where the most gorgeous blooms can be grown and there's a group of super talented florists out there who are really championing this. Jade of Fallen Flower Design sent us this shoot after attending a course with The Garden Gate Flower Company and Tinge Floral and you can see in the images from Kathryn Hopkins that she had a truly inspirational time. RMW will be speaking at the next course with The Garden Gate Flower Company so if anyone reading this interested in coming along then you can find more info here. The course is open to everyone - florists, stylists, photographers, Brides who may have caught the wedding bug while planning their own big day ;) This shoot is extra special because photographer Kathryn shoots on film so the images have that gorgeous dreamy tone to them and model Laura, is a blogger who happens to be getting married next year! It's just all so lovely and brimming with inspiration for you.
Kathryn the Photographer: Recently Jade, of Fallen Flower Design, went on the incredible La Belle Epoque floral workshop at Boconnoc Estate in Cornwall. The workshop was created by The Garden Gate Floral Company and Tinge Floral. The floral bridal inspiration was inspired by the natural organic florals which were the main emphasis during the workshop. Laura of Tiny Twisst fashion, beauty and lifestyle blog, was keen to model for us as she has recently got engaged herself and is in the process of planning her own wedding which takes place next year. The florals were created for two dresses which we had seen during a visit to Bridal Reloved in Maldon last year. They have the most fabulous Vintage Ian Stuart Dress, a real fairy tale ball-gown, and have wanted to work with it since we set eyes on it, along with a very simple dress which could almost step out of the 1930's. So Jade set out to create three different bouquets and floral crowns which would complement the two dresses. The bouquet to sit with the Ian Stuart ball-gown was more majestic in shape, to compliment the fullness of the tulle skirt. Filled with garden roses and wisteria, with peachy pink tones, it sat perfectly with the peach and grey colours of the gown. The other two bouquets were much more delicate to sit with the softer simpler lines of the second dress. The dress fabric has pretty gold floral embroidery all over the fabric, and the yellow and gold tones used in the bouquets flattered the embroidery flawlessly. The weather on the day of the shoot was pretty awful with 20 mph gusts of wind, so although hair and make-up looked perfect before stepping out, within five minutes everything looked very windswept! I think it’s great for brides to be to see how beautiful everything still looks even with less than perfect weather.
