Winter in White… Part 2

April 2nd, 2010 by Rebecca@rockmywedding Leave a reply »

Welcome for Part 2 of this utterly Glamorous and Fabulous wedding. I can’t wait to share the rest so I’m going to get straight to it. :)

Oli and Sinem got married at Moxhull Hall in Sutton Coldfield. Big thanks to Steve Gerrard for providing all of the stunning images.

The Groom and his Ushers

The men wore black tie so the only distinguishing feature between them was the button holes.

Oli had a dinner suit made by Callaghan Tailor, Birmingham. It was made to measure and fitted him perfectly. It was a classic design with silk pocket flaps and detailing on the lapels and handkerchief with matching stripe down the trouser leg. He looked very suave and ‘James Bond’esque when I saw him that day.

The Photography

We chose Steve Gerrard to do our photography. We met him at the wedding show at the NEC and knew immediately that he was the guy for us.

His pictures aren’t typical wedding photos and that’s what drew us to him and he did an amazing job, especially with the dreadful weather we had all day!

The Cake

Cake had to be simple, it was 4 tiers, plain white icing with an iridescent sheen to it, ribbons and a diamonte strip was placed around each tier.

Because we had trouble deciding it had two fruit layers (one for us to keep), a chocolate layer and a vanilla one.

The Dancing

The reception was held at the same venue as the ceremony. We had heard excellent reviews of the Hotel and took their advice for most of the entertainment. They recommended the Wedding Crashers as the band. They play soul/funk and have regularly played at the Jam House in Birmingham. For the DJ we had Andy from Sonic light who also played a similar style of music. They all did so well at getting everyone up and dancing.

Im half Turkish and to tie in with my culture we also arranged a bit of a surprise… a belly dancer as extra entertainment. She was excellent and even had some of the crowd joining in.

Our first dance was Al Green – Let’s stay together. It says it all and we love it.

The Details

We had candles everywhere. It was winter and got dark quickly so candles gave the place a cosy atmosphere. Also on the tables we had hundreds of swarovski crystal scattered which made everywhere sparkle. We even had large lanterns with candles to lined the pathway between the main house and the marquee.

We gave everyone a nazar boncuk (turkish evil eye) it is an amulet said to protect and keep you from harm.

Words of Advice…

Getting married was amazing and the fabulous wedding we had was the icing on the cake. It truly is the best day ever and it’s wonderful to have everyone you love in one place. Our wedding was special to us because it was our wedding, it was exactly as we had imagined it and we wouldn’t change a thing despite the fact it rained all day!

One of the important reasons for this is how professionally everything was run on the day. The wedding planner, Tony, from the venue was exceptional which allowed us to focus on enjoying ourselves.

The best advice I can give is to enjoy every minute of it including the planning and the run up to it, as stressful as it may be at times, step back and just enjoy it.

It’s just the most special day ever.

Congratulations to both of you from all of us here at Rock My Wedding. Massive thank you also to Steve Gerrard for supplying us with the fabulous images throughout, we remain huge fans of your work!

Yours Truly,

Rebecca
xoxo

  1. Great to see one of our fave couples on one of our fave blogs :)
The weather was appalling on the day which was a real shame (we got virtually no outside photos) but they didn’t complain once and still rocked it.
Their album’s going to be stunning!

it’s all lovely and chic. Iike how she used white. Sometimes an all white wedding can look very dull, but this one looks eclectic and chic. Congratulations!!!!
