That’s what Bride Maya is – glittering. And if anyone knows where you can buy such a flawless honey-hued epidermis I’d be VERY interested to know.
She and Adam were married in Shoreditch Town Hall followed by a reception at The Boundary restaurant.
There was fabulous fashion.
There were beautiful DIY-By-The-Bride florals.
There was some of the coolest W-day transport I have ever seen…….
And the way all the fun the guests were having was captured? PERFECTION.
Like A Princess
Maya The Bride: My wedding dress was by Jenny Packham, it was her ‘Bonnie dress’ and I loved the vintage feel of the dress. I knew I wanted it instantly, it was only the second dress I’d tried on. I hadn’t known before picking it but the Duchess Kate had worn it in colour blush to a gala.
I had no accessories only a pair of diamond stud earings from Adams mum as my something borrowed. The dress was head to toe sheen with crystals I didn’t need any more sparkle!
My shoes were from Faith, sparkly sandals with a kitten heel 1920’s style.
I Fancied Him A LOT
We bought all the groomsmen and bridesmaid outfits. Groomsmen matched the groom wearing the same colour scheme of navy blue. The bridesmaids dresses matched the flowers – drawn out romantic colours. They were from Coast and my little nieces dress was from Monsoon.
Adam wore a navy suit , waistcoat and brogues from the Kooples and his tie was from Armarni. He looked very dapper with a gold pocket watch chain. He wears a suit for work everyday but I have to say this suit was made for him and I fancied him a lot in it!
Sylvia my mother in law did my hair, she’s a hairdresser. I had a makeup artist called Becky from Laura Mercier who was great. I’d had a makeover by her to get tips to do my make-up myself but she was so good I asked her to do it for me on the day. Which I am so glad about because on the day with nerves it was so nice to sit back and relax!
I did all the flowers myself. I bought all the flowers from the Covent Garden flower market, the day before at 6am!! I had help from my mum and bridesmaids, Emma and Natalie and we arranged them all in my kitchen! I had collected jars, bottles for months and these were my vases for the flowers on the tables.
The flowers I picked were: hydrangeas, roses, daisies, Scabiosa’s, Wax flower, lavender, just to name a few. I chose drawn out romantic colours.
I found Tarah Coonan through a recommendation online. After visiting her website and seeing her portfolio of pictures I knew she was the one for me! I loved her candid shots, with a relaxed feel and beautiful moments captured. Once meeting her we thought she was one of the most loveliest people we have ever met and loves weddings, which made me feel calm and relaxed on the day.
M & A
My cakes were made by Victoria Smith, one of my very close friends and soon to turn professional baker. She made a centre piece cake for us to cut which was a chocolate cake with a Grenache coating. And she made cupcakes to surround it. There were three different flavours, vanilla and jam, red velvet and chocolate. They were arranged on a collection of vintage cupcake stands. They were stunning she had adorned them all with either handmade edible flowers or our initials M and A’s.
I chose Tori to make them as she is extremely talented at what she does. Her cakes are not only stunning but taste sensational, having anyone else would have felt wrong and would not have lived up to the occasion. Its just an added bonus she’s one of my best friends so her making our cakes felt very special.
We had live music after dinner, by an artist called ShezAr (Labyrinths sister), she sang just with her guitarist. My brother is friends with her and recommended her. The first time I’d heard ShezAr’s voice I wanted her straight away, she sang songs like wonderwall in a soulful voice – she was amazing!
We then had Wedding Smashers as our DJ’s who I cannot recommend enough. I wanted them as they offered something totally different from all other Dj’s. I love their style. They’re not your cheesy wedding DJ’s at all.
Crying With Laughter
Our wedding was so special to us for reasons such as it was near home in an area which means a lot to us and with only really close people. Every single person there we are both so close to and I think this is what made such an overwhelming atmosphere on the day. We both come from very close families too and at the reception my sister had surprised us with a music video she had made of all our family my side and Adams and I cannot describe how funny it was, everybody was crying with laughter. This made our day, it was so special, thoughtful, and hilarious!
My advice would be just to make your wedding day tailored to all your likes, don’t do anything because you think you have to. Don’t compromise on your own tastes and style. It’s your day! Also don’t overcomplicate the day either, it goes so quickly so just enjoy it!
See? see what I mean about Maya’s peachy complexion?!
And that dress well…..
