Inspiration

Get ready for your jaw to drop at this real life fairytale wedding, complete with castle venue, dashing groom and princess bride. French born groom Jerome and Irish bride Aisling were completely and utterly smitten with the gorgeous Chateau Lisse when they saw it, and we can totally see why. Its architecture and grandure were exactly what they wanted personified at their elegant wedding. You'd be forgiven for thinking this was a styled shoot, everything is so perfectly executed. None more so than the fine art photography captures by Lilli Kad, but family chipped in to help with flowers, and also the incredibly timeless, but super stylish wedding attire.

Venue

Aisling the Bride: A true Castle Fairytale Wedding in France. This is what Jerome and I envisioned for our perfect day. Jerome being from France, me from Ireland and both living in Sydney, the choice was probably a little difficult. Then we found Chateau de Lisse online and were sold on the beauty of the Chateau, its setting and its on-site 14th century chapel. What was most important to us was the opportunity to spend time with friends and family from around the world. The Chateau offered the perfect venue to relax with guests and explore Jerome’s native region. My parents went off to France to view the venue and with early morning skype calls from Australia went about organising their day. We started our big day with a run with friends through the extension grounds of the chateau, followed by breakfast with all guests in the medieval banquet hall of the Chateau.

Decor

Our entire family helped out with my mum Helen creating all the flowers for the wedding and Jerome's sister Laura dressing the grooms family and the bride through her boutique "Nicole Couture" in Auray. My sister Maeve was the bridesmaid, dressed in green as a homage to our Irish heritage, Pierre served as the trusted best man and Jerome’s niece Lina was the adorable little flower girl. My aunt Antoinette served as the celebrant for the personal ceremony. My father, who had taken French classes for the occasion, delivered a heart-warming speech in both languages to the delight of the French guests who were not accustomed to wedding speeches. Jerome’s 90 year old grandmother delighted guests with music on the grand piano in one of the Chateau's many reception rooms.

Attire

I wore a Pronovias gown and Jerome wore a tux from his favourite tailor, Siam Emporium, together we made for a very dashing couple mirroring the sophistication of the venue.

Theme

I wanted to keep the entire theme very simple with green and white being the main colours laced with a little lilac here and there. Chateau de Lisse provided catering, organising and planning of our fairy tale wedding.

Drinks

The wine was supplied by the Chateau’s own vineyard Baron de Lisse. Traditional French games such as Pallette Gascon were laid out and the lovely Jazz music by Odette Swing had the guests dancing in the garden before our reception even started.

Photographer

You don’t fly to the other side of the world and rent out such a special venue without selecting the perfect photographer to capture every moment. We choose Lilli Kad, a fine art photographer for our big day. We chose to do a pre-wedding shot on Sydney stunning Northern Beaches to ensure we were relaxed in front of the camera and with the Photographer for the big day.

More Adventures

Guests continued the long weekend of celebrations with visits to the beautiful villages of the Gascony region and a fantastic meal hosted in the nearby Les Deux Gourmands restaurant. We set off trail running through the Alps on our honeymoon before returning to sunny Sydney.
