Alice & Jon

If you love fairgrounds then Alice and Jon’s circus wedding is going to be right up your street. The pair hired out The Brewery in London to celebrate their nuptials and went all out on fairground stalls including a gin bar (LOVE!), an ice-cream cart and their very own customised elephant sign.

Alice also opted to wear her grandmother’s wedding dress on her big day which had also been worn by Alice’s mum at her own wedding. She accessorised with her grandmother’s veil and a pair of L.K. Bennett shoes and a bouquet of pink roses. Beautiful!

The Bride’s Fashion

Alice The Bride: I wore my mum’s dress, which was also originally my grandmother’s dress. But alterations were made at Design and Alter who were brilliant. I also wore my mum’s jewellery which she had worn on her own wedding day and my grandmother’s veil. I always knew I would wear my mum’s dress so it was an easy choice! I like vintage style and my parents have such a happy marriage that I knew it would bring me luck. My shoes were by L.K. Bennett.

The Bridesmaids

The bridesmaid dresses were all bought from a lovely shop in Worthing called Courtesan Boutique.

The Venue

We met in London so we knew it was the place to tie the knot. After looking for ages, we had nearly given up and then found The Brewery. I went to school in the Barbican so it was lovely being so close to somewhere I had grown up. The venue itself is incredibly beautiful and you can do the whole thing there, get married and have a party! So it was perfect.

The Theme

We both love fairgrounds and circuses so choosing a circus wedding theme was easy. Pink roses were my grandmother’s favourite flower so we used them to tie in the rest of the flowers. I wanted a really wild natural theme so the florists – Hybrid Flowers – created amazing installations up the stairs and as centrepieces. Our stationery was all created by our usher Stefan Hodgson who is a graphic designer.

Entertainment

Once the fairground theme was chosen we knew we had to make a mini fairground on the day so we booked a number of suppliers who were all brilliant. We had instant ice-cream from Lick Me I’m Delicious, and hired fairground stalls from Irvin’s Amusements. The photo booth was from The Photo Emporium and the Sweet Cart from Rosie’s Carts. We created our own gin bar but got a signwriter to create a sign for it, and also to create our own elephant sign!
