We love a bit of escapism at the weekend, and this shoot is a pretty perfect place to lose yourself, as it contains ALL the pretty flowers and ALL the pretty dresses. Completely, utterly and totally feminine, we’ve got three Brides – which means three times the make up looks, three times the hair inspiration and three times the stunning accessories for you!
I know. Three really is the magic number.
There’s also an adorable pug. I’m not entirely sure why… but is there ever really a reason not to include a pug I ask you?! There’s a deep and meaningful question for your Saturday afternoon. Enjoy the inspiration lovely ones, it really is a very pretty shoot…
The Team behind the Shoot: With an Elizabethan House dating back to the early 15th century, that has remained with the same family for 250 years, and has featured on TV shows such as BBC’s Antiques Road Trip and English Village Life, Spains Hall Estate was the perfect location for a styled inspiration shoot. As a wedding photographer, I work with many talented vendors and decided in January to organise a styled inspiration shoot to bring together some creative talent purely to inspire brides to be.
We had 3 models on the day, one of them a seasoned pro on the scenes of London Fashion Week (Jennifer Moxham), Dilpa Premgy who has modelled for various shoots and then Michelle Dalton. Michelle was a real bride who had married at Spains Hall in 2014 and I wanted to keep the inspiration shoot as real as possible to show that everything captured could be achieved by brides currently planning their special day. There was a team of 8 vendors on the day that truly made the shoot magical and what a great bunch! We had lots of fun and even spent part of the shoot helping Jennifer climb onto a 300 year old tree (so old it was propped up!!) for some gorgeous photos. We spent months on Pinterest between us all setting up a board for inspiration and we wanted there to be 3 brides with first and second make up/hair looks. Oh, and of course not forgetting Betty (!) – Betty is a pug, who loves (LOVES!) her photo being taken, and who featured with all of the brides for a photo or two. We all left that day wanting our own Betty.
The team at Spains Hall are fantastic and, Stuart, the Estate Manager opened the hall up especially for the shoot on the day. The family, that still live on the Estate in part of the Elizabethan House, even came to introduce themselves which was lovely and they were very interested in seeing all the sets that we had created (two table layouts and a gorgeous hanging paper design which we had tied between two trees). The day was full of make up and hair inspiration, along side beautiful bespoke wedding dresses made by an up and coming UK designer, 3 bouquets and table/hair flowers created by a very talented London florist and bespoke headpieces made for the shoot by a UK designer (also a hair and make up artist for weddings). To add to the look and feel of the day, I shot hybrid with a film camera (the Contax 645) and my trusted digital Canon 5D Mark III (x2!). We were very much going for a soft, dreamy look with a pastel colour palette.
