Amy & James

Today’s big day is a beautiful family filled affair of DIY goodness that will make you feel all warm and gooey inside. Amy and James chose the walled gardens of Bignor Park to say their vows to one another and what a gorgeous backdrop to do it against.

Think converted stables, cobbled courtyards and beautiful gardens filled to the brim with wild flowers complemented perfectly by subtle decorative touches added by Amy and James themselves. I adore the bouquet toss photos (check them out in the slider) and the fact that James designed all the stationery himself (Groom Power!) and Amy’s Halfpenny London dress (to DIE for) as well as that naked cake!

Come and see all the gorgeous details for yourselves…

The Brides Fashion

Amy The Bride: I loved the idea of a vintage inspired wedding dress with plenty of lace. I looked high and low for my dress and even uncovered my grandmas wedding dress but it hadn’t lasted well. I then found Kate Halfpenny and found a beautifully delicate silk dress and lace top.

The Venue

The venue was the hardest decision, we looked around a lot of venues but within minutes of arriving at Bignor we knew it was perfect, we loved the old stone walls in the converted stables, the cobbled courtyards and the beautiful gardens. We were also lucky enough that it was a sunny day so we could get married outside in the walled garden among the wild flowers.

Colour Scheme/Décor

We decided on a rustic country garden theme, which combined hessian, twine, lace and plenty of bunting. Our venue allowed us to decorate the day before and it was great fun having the whole family together bringing it all together before the day. We made a lot of our own decorations with our mums hand making over 200 metres of floral bunting which covered and linked different areas of venue together.

We also hand made hessian and twine table runners and used hessian and lace to cover assorted jam jars for flowers and candles scattered throughout venue. James designed and hand printed our menus, orders of service and table numbers. Our handmade confetti cones were constructed from pink Financial Times paper and my brother and sister-in-law designed and laser-cut our venue signage. Lastly we created some hay bale courtyard seating and string lighting and a photo wall and Polaroid photo station by the bar.

Flowers/Florist

We wanted to our flowers to have a slightly wild, just picked look which fit perfectly with our theme. They were pulled together by the lovely team at Petal and Feast.

The Wedding Party Fashion

Our bridesmaids wore a delicate mint green dress with lace from Ted Baker, for a relaxed county garden feel.

Entertainment

We had a string quartet for our ceremony through to the canapés and drink reception on the lawn. We then had a live band in the evening.

Food

We chose a naked cake, made and decorated with flowers and fruits by the talented folks at Petal and Feast, which looked amazing. We had a sit down meal of salmon filo parcels, lamb platter and a lemon tart catered by the very lovely Pesto Food.

Photographer

We loved the style of Ruby Roux’s photos which are beautifully put together with a lovely natural and relaxed feel to them. We also wanted an informal day that everyone could enjoy and Liz really made everyone feel at ease.

    1. Ah thank you, my Mum made it for me! We got the lace from a haberdashery in London called MacCulloch and Wallis, which has some lovely trimmings if you know someone crafty!
